Welcome!'

Hello Evanthomas1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (ZsinjBot 01:23, 4 April 2006 (UTC)); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  BlankVerse 14:51, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've shrunk your very large picture that you added to the Manhattan Beach, California article. Since it has been a long time since I've been in Manhattan Beach, you might check the description that I added to make sure that I didn't add anything glaringly incorrect. If you upload anymore images, you might think about getting a user account and adding them to Wikipedia:Commons so that all of the different Wikipedias and Sister projects can use the images. You might also think about using a more descriptive file name for the image. BlankVerse 14:51, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Photos[edit]

You can go to Special:Upload, select the file from your hard drive, select the image name that wikipedia will use (unless the file name is long, the same one as you use is fine), then select which license the photo is under. Make sure it is one such as the GFDL that is compatible with wikipedia or your image will be removed. -Greg Asche (talk) 00:49, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Go to the article, click edit, add in [[Image:YOUR_IMAGE_HERE.JPG]] and then preview. There are things you can add to align the photo, such as |right. That would look like [[Image:YOUR_IMAGE_HERE.JPG|right]]. Make sure you preview before you make any changes. -Greg Asche (talk) 00:55, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Did some editing[edit]

I made my first contributions to Wikipededia on the Manhattan Beach page, in regard to the history of Manhattan Beach section. Of course, I should have read the Wikipedia intro, how to, etiquette, et cetera, before I did so, and I apologize for not following the protocols. When I think of a decent user name I'll register and get an accont.

Meanwhile, I thought I'd advise you that I made several minor edits for typo, useage, and style, and that I made one deletion for a line that seems to be unsupported factually.

Again, sorry for breaking the conventions, and I'll get squared away on Wikipedia soon!

Image copyright problem with Image:EVANTHOMAS_EVANTHOMAS.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:EVANTHOMAS_EVANTHOMAS.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags.

Image Tagging Image:PICT0028.JPG[edit]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:PICT0028.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image Tagging for Image:MB_-_02.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MB_-_02.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:Cms1 033477-3.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cms1 033477-3.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:02, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Costa Lingo[edit]

Costa Lingo, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Costa Lingo satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Costa Lingo and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Costa Lingo during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. CIreland 06:20, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File:Mb pier south.jpg[edit]

I'm curious about File:Mb pier south.jpg. An anonymous editor has added copyright info after you uploaded it. Is this accurate or is it vandalism? Did you take this picture, as you claimed?-Andrew c [talk] 19:00, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spam blacklist[edit]

Please stop spamming multiple editors with requests to have a site removed from the spam blacklist. As far as I am concerned, if the only purpose is so an inappropriate external link can be inserted, then I would not support unlisting. SpinningSpark 00:01, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I apologize. I was just looking for help from editors who are in a position of power. I'm not looking for a link to FTB, but I would like to create an article on FTB. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Martijn, remember me from the other day in the IRC node talk room? I published an article in my user sandbox and I need it to be reviewed for possible conflict of interests. I added the article to the COI noticeboard. Is this the correct place to have it reviewed?Evan (talk) 18:52, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is the correct place. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 23:04, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thank you Electriccatfish2 . Did I post it in the correct format? How does the review process usually work? How often does the process usually last? Thanks, Evan (talk) 23:05, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:FindTheBest Logo RGB.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:FindTheBest Logo RGB.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 02:05, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need help converting PNG to SVG[edit]

Hi, you tagged this file for SVG conversion. I am not sure how to convert the file. Do you have any tools for doing so? Thanks! Evan (talk) 15:38, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There's really no harm in keeping it as-is, since it will rarely be rendered any larger than it already is. However, if you'd like to have it converted, you can make a request over at Wikipedia:Graphic Lab/Illustration workshop. Tom(2¢) 20:58, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for July 14[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited FindTheBest, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kevin O'Connor (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Orphaned non-free image File:FindTheBestLogo.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:FindTheBestLogo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 16:22, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was blocked in July 2013 by user Dennis Brown for apparently being a "meat puppet" of user Morning227. Not only have I never heard of the user Morning227, but we have never edited the same article. I began editing articles on Wikipedia long before Morning227 joined Wiki. According to Morning227's page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Long-term_abuse/Morning277), the user is believed to be <redacted>. I am happy to provide a photo ID of myself to prove that I am Evan Thomas, and not <redacted>. I'm curious why I was blocked in the first place with nothing to back-up the block. What article did I edit that might have given Dennis Brown the thought that I am a "meat puppet"? thank you and I would like to resolve this issue ASAP

Accept reason:

As the blocking admin, I have unblocked and noting the reason here. After talking with Evan via email for a while, there exists the possibility the block was in error. He did some COI editing, but might not be a sock. In the spirit of second chances and benefit of the doubt, I'm unblocking him with the only restriction being to avoid COI editing. After a year, he can appeal the restriction at WP:AN. He understands that if he engages in COI edits (including but not limited to the article Graphiq), it would be assumed the original block was correct and will be reinstated by myself or any other admin that chooses to. ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, Evanthomas1. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Graphiq, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
