Orphaned non-free media (File:Npplogo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Npplogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:50, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FN-related articles: WPs[edit]

Please add {{NorthAmNative}} and {{WikiProject Canada}} with appropriate bc=yes, yt=yes, nt=yes etc switches to all the FN-related articles you've created, and see my new notes on Talk:Status of First Nations treaties in British Columbia. And please don't mis-pipe things to wrong-target articles; e.g. Cape Mudge Indian Band needs an article and so should be seen as a redlink; directing it to Hamatla Treaty Society is incorrect. Bluelinks for the sake of bluelinks is counter-productive. What you could do is make all the remaining band government stubs, using existing ones as templates....most un-made ones are in the Kwakwaka'wakw and Dakelh areas....Skookum1 (talk) 16:34, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Status of First Nations treaties in British Columbia[edit]

Hello. Your DYK suggestion for Status of First Nations treaties in British Columbia looks great but I had a question on the DYK page. Thanks. -SusanLesch (talk) 21:10, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sink date for Rewa[edit]

Can you double-check the date that the Rewa was sunk? While checking your DYK hook, I got the impression from two sources that the date was Jan 4 1918. Otherwise, the hook looks fine. Cheers. HausTalk 21:34, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FN titles should NOT redirect to TC articles[edit]

I was about to refine the location for the Adams Lake Band from "The Interior" to "Shuswap Country" when I followed the link from Acho Dene Koe First Nation and discovered it goes to the Deh Cho First Nations Tribal Council which you'll also note isn't in the Yukon, but is in the Northwest Territories. PLEASE do NOT redirect First Nation/band government titles to tribal council articles; either leave them as redlinks or go ahead and make the stub; by redirecting them you give the impression on pages like the treaties page that the article exists when in fact it is needed. Blue links for the sake of visual appeal are not the way to do things; band governments and tribal councils are not the same thing. I'm gonna redlink the bands on that tribal council page - or would, except that as with the Acho Dene Koe it would just show up as a bluelink, and would be identified as a circular redirect and taken out by another editor; which means to fix this problem I'd have to make six or seven band articles in order to get around the problemm you've created by mis-redirecting. Shortcuts often cause big detours and extra work for other editors, please try not to do this any further.Skookum1 (talk) 11:51, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ACK!!!! I just found out you've done the same thing with Aitchelitz Band to Sto:lo Nation. How many such redirects have you made???? Please clean up this mess; making those FN-to-TC shortcuts was NOT the way to go; a lazy man's way of dealing with the lack of articles, all so your nice new treaties page could have pretty blue links throughout. Ack ack ack ack. A band government is NOT a tribal council and they are two kinds of articles, with different contexts and references. Please do not make extra work for other editors by making shortcuts for yourself. Consult article-structure guideline discussions at {{NorthAmNative}} but in general please just use common sense.Skookum1 (talk) 12:04, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I took the time- something over half an hour - to create Aitchelitz First Nation and have redirected Aitchelitz Band to it, as should have been done in the first case. I may do Acho Dene Koe later today, but it's an equal amount of work; look at hte Aitchelitz article to get an idea of "basic stub" but you can leave out the list of reserves and the population item and just make a raw stub. Now, I'm going to have to go find out exactly how many of such mis-redirects you've made......grrrrrrrrrrr.Skookum1 (talk) 12:38, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've just made Acho Dene Koe First Nation properly. It took 5 seconds of your time to create the mis-redirect, and a half hour of my time to fix the problem......Skookum1 (talk) 12:57, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Your asinine comments are not welcome, instead of redirecting blame onto me I suggest you just go and fix the problems you've created instead of snotting on me for a typo here and there; I am working on a slow network - and INAC is always slow to access. If yours is so fast, and your keyboard is together, it will take you no time at all to tidy up all the bad redirects you've made, and ditto that if your connection is so fast and you're so efficient, why didn't you just make the full articles in the first place instead of lazy man's redirects? Sheesh!! Is it so hard to write stubs, or do you think everything can be solved by sloppy redirects (and insults when your mistakes are pointed out)?Skookum1 (talk) 14:02, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed your snotty/snide edit comment "fix newbie mistakes". Go bugger yourself asshole, and dno't complain about good manners or WP:Civil when you don't have any yourself (I have over 45,000 edits).Skookum1 (talk) 14:08, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[undent]Here's a list of your lazy man's work, and so far only the redirects to Sto:lo Nation; no doubt there are dozens more. Since you're so fast with what you do, why don't you create proper articles instead of bullshit redirects?Skookum1 (talk) 14:28, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Since you're so much faster than I am, I'll leave it to you to tidy up yourself (and do those references so properly, as you insist was a "mistake" of mine for doing them in basic form).Skookum1 (talk) 14:28, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A barrage of newbie stubs[edit]

It's become very clear that you have no idea of the subject matter, and are just mining your way through the Executive Council of BC (aka the cabinet's) website and don't have a clue where most of these places are, or who the people are, or anything else. You obsess over proper formatting of refs, but insist on using a deprecated template for same; and your English is atrocious, your geography worse. I've come to the ocnclusion that you're a troll who enjoys making other people pick up after you. No number of DYK's in a row will excuse you for the bad/sloppy content you've made; if you can't make articles properly, don't make them at all (no matter how format-formal the cites are).Skookum1 (talk) 20:28, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Quit your immature complaining[edit]

I have looked over a few posts you've made on Skookum1's talk page & they are both immature & flat out wrong. Saying he needs to read stuff for beginners on Wikipedia is not right first of all & nor is saying he is making newbie mistakes. Listen, Skookum has A LOT more experience & knows a lot more than you ever will. He types very fast & has a sticky keyboard so mistakes happen. Get over it! If you see a mistake by him, fix it & don't go off on him on his talk page with your pointless bitching. You look like a total fool saying he makes newbie mistakes. If I see a mistake by him I fix it and the only time I talk to him about is when it is a discussable or controversial matter or it is something he clearly doesn't understand. I've been on wikipedia about a year & so far he has not only been the most helpful person to me but he also is my best friend here. Considering the fact he knows a lot more than most of us, I think that should be a legit reason to not bitch about simple typing errors. I don't see any banners on your user page & I see a lot on his. Please just stop bitching about minor things he does & move on. You look like a fool when you do. Your help at DYK[edit]

Hello Esemono. Thank you so much for your clever solution of my problem. You just repeated and rephrased statements already written in the table, and it should work :)) Bizzare. Your writing[edit]

Hi there. Can you please reread and copyedit your work? I really don't like having to completely rewrite DYK articles. :-/ For example, as of this revision, I can count eight uses of the word "destroyed" and a continuity problem ("planned destruction by German forces under order from the Hitler and the high reached of Nazi governance", then later "In this way Warsaw was hit particularly hard with many of its buildings including the the Palace of the Four Winds which was deliberately destroyed by the Germans in 1944."), among other problems. File source problem with File:Blaz kraljevic.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Blaz kraljevic.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:36, 22 October 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 16:36, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Martha Wainwright discography[edit]

Thanks for your comment. While I would love for Martha Wainwright discography to be featured on the main page, the inline citation you provided did not confirm the statement made in the article. Using liner notes from Rufus Wainwright's debut album does not confirm that Martha appeared on all of his albums, including Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall. Since I cannot find a single article that mentions this, even though I know it to be true, I pretty much gave up on trying to confirm the DYK fact. Sorry for the confusion, but I was not trying to sabotage anything. --Another Believer (Talk) 17:14, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of November 7 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics)[edit]

The article November 7 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The original page contained dubious unsourced info about numerology, with no real relation to the Church or liturgy, now deleted. The remaining historical information should be moved to the November 7 main page. This page would therefore remain empty.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Hi, this is a warning I understand I'm supposed to issue to the creator and significant contributors of this page I'm proposing to delete. The creator is an IP, and you seem to be the only other significant contributor. Like I said, I think the stuff you added belongs to November 7, and what was already there was rubbish. Thanks. – Daniel Mahu (talk|contribs) · 19:39, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Project Runway - Nora Calligare - Jay McCarroll - Kara Saun - 2005.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Project Runway - Nora Calligare - Jay McCarroll - Kara Saun - 2005.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. Report a problem[edit]

Hello friend. Your timeline map of ottomon empire has a big problem. Between 1683 and 1829, casacus regions are shown as part of ottomon empire, while in reality it was part of Persian empire that later due to Treaty of Gulistan and Treaty of Turkmenchay were submitted to Russian empire. I'll be appreciably grateful if you correct it. Aliwiki (talk) 15:46, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't mind, I'd like to remove the mention of the california rail standards in the CVS article. It's not clear that they did this to hamper PRT's, nor does it seem particularly noteworthy in context. Any complaints? Maury Markowitz (talk) 15:01, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Honest Man[edit]

It was me who said:

Until you finally release the film, I don't think it's notable either. Anybody could've compiled that teaser trailer, film or no film. Until you finally release it, since this was supposed to be done in the Fall of 2007, and/or it appears on IMDb, it should be taken out of the article. Thank you and I look forward to the film, if it's ever released.

Now, just because I created that conversation doesn't mean that I can overturn the point because there's been significant updates on the film. I think you have a valid point at removing the film from the article. But it's highly unlikely its a hoax due to the previously unreleased photographs on the website and archive news footage and interviews in the trailer. IMDb, which I love and contribute to all the time, is somewhat unreliable because anybody can add something without citing a source. If we were making an article about Honest Man, I'd agree with you since it hasn't been accepted to a festival yet, nor does it appear on IMDb. But since its just a minor inclusion in a related article, I find it unencyclopedic to exclude it and I don't believe a paragraph about an upcoming film that has sources violates WP:Crystal Ball.--Geeky Randy (talk) 23:03, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Postage stamps and postal history of the Nyassa Company at DYK[edit]

Please try not to bite the newbies -- the DYK approvals system is extremely complex -- full of unwritten rules, disagreement as to how the rules should be applied and occasional inequity. Those of us who've hung around there for years know what to expect, but those new to the process must find it very frustrating. Espresso Addict (talk) 14:46, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Original material[edit]

The rules state "Try to pick articles that are original to Wikipedia (not inclusions of free data sources)". This was discussed recently on the talk page re Sea Serpent (clipper), with the consensus being that quoted material, even if PD, should be in block quotes and should be excluded from the character count. I know, however, many earlier wikifications of PD material got through a few years back, but it's likely that standards have tightened up since then. I think there's generally considered to be a free pass for material written for another website that the author moves here. Espresso Addict (talk) 05:07, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer granted[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:21, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
