Regarding your request for a state highway WikiProject[edit]

Your request has been listed at WP:USRD/SUB. --Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 00:57, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've created WikiProject Nebraska Highways after your request, I thought you would like to help out, as you requested it. I'm not from Nebraska and we could use some participants from the state itself. It's just getting started, hopefully we can make some Nebraska highway-related progress, though. Thanks. -- Dskluz 04:30, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vikings Number of nfC championships[edit]

thanks for adding info to Minnesota Vikings page, just a quick fyi the Vikings have only won 3 NFC championships 73 74 and 76. It is a common mistake the Vikings won the nfL championship in 1969. The AFC and NFC started in 1970. Smith03 04:14, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Swid!

I noticed you have the Nebraska Roads website. I have committed some time and energy to writing some articles on various Nebraska highways, but I can never get access to your website. I wouldn't mind using it as a source, if I only knew what was on it. DandyDan2007 13:15, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nebraska Highway Shields[edit]

If you need assistance with them - let me know. I have the tools to do them - they're quite hefty in size due to the wagon at the bottom - but really all you need to do is use Inkscape and Image:N Blank.svg, and insert the text in font Roadgeek 2005 Series C format, size it, center it, convert the text to a path (CTRL + SHIFT + C) and upload it.

It only takes me 2 minutes to generate a sheild though ;) glad to be of help. • master_sonLets talk 01:29, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mike McCarthy (Omaha)[edit]

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Mike McCarthy (Omaha), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 172.169.51.66 12:40, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DYK criteria[edit]

Your article U.S. Route 6 in Nebraska is well-written, but it lacks any sourcing. The external links in the article could be used to source the article, but the DYK rules specifically state it must be sourced. You at least need to source the main fact in the DYK hook. Just look at the other articles listed. Please read WP:CITE for a guide on sourcing. I hated to see this one passed up. As a former member of the WikiProject Wisconsin Highways, I understand that the U.S. WikiProject needs help. Some DYK exposure would help the WikiProject. Royalbroil 20:04, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--howcheng {chat} 07:02, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to see you add something to this article. I'm concerned about the notability of this article - why does it warrant an article on WP? I don't want to nominate it for AfD, but I don't really see why its here. Any thoughts? – Freechild (BoomCha) 20:01, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not really sure why it's there. It could possibly be merged into the UNO article. DandyDan2007 21:17, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have performed the merge, because it is unquestionably the same college. I think University of Wisconsin-Richland Center was its old name now long ago, so the redirect is well-placed. Royalbroil 21:58, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

US 6[edit]

US 6 did take over the whole of US 38; it was later moved to Denver. As for US 32, what can you say about the history of the non-US 6 portion that doesn't fit better in the US 34 article? --NE2 08:47, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like it would make sense to merge US 55 into US 52. --NE2 08:49, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I was thinking of getting more feedback about the tables, but I never did. While it's not exactly difficult to finish the tables, I don't think any other state uses them, and a summary of the routes is less useful than I expected. So I'll probably revert back to the lists today. What did you have in mind? —Rob (talk) 12:28, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An important letter[edit]

Dear roads editor,

You may have noticed some changes at WP:USRD lately. Some of them, like the cleanup templates and the stub templates, have been astounding and great. Unfortunately, others have been disturbing.

This has become evidenced by the departure of a few prominent editors at USRD, a few RFC's, and much fighting among USRD editors.

After the second RFC, many of us found the opportunity to take a step away from Wikipedia for a while--as a self-imposed wikibreak, or possibly on vacation.

The result of such introspection was that many of us were placing ourselves in a "walled garden" and on a self-imposed pedestal of authority over the roads department. Also, we were being hostile to a few users who were not agreeing with us.

In fact, IRC has been the main incarnation of this "walled garden." Decisions have been made there to conduct grudges and prejudices against a few valued USRD users with poor justification.

For this, we have come to apologize. We have come to ask your forgiveness.

In addition to this, we hope to work as one USRD team from now on and to encourage cooperation instead of the promotion of interests.

All users are welcome to collaborate on IRC, the newsletter, or anywhere else at USRD.

In the future, please feel free to approach us about any issues you may have.

Regards,

  1. Please update your information at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Participants, our new centralized participant list. Those who have not done so by October 20th will be removed.
  2. There are important discussions taking place at WT:USRD relating to whether WP:USRD, WP:HWY, or the state projects should hold the "power" in the roads projects.

Transportation in Omaha[edit]

Hey DandyDan2007, I'm wondering if you could take a look at Transportation in Omaha and let me know what I'm missing, or take a swing at it yourself. I'm delving into your neck of the woods here, i.e. highways, and would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks. – Freechild (¡!¡!¡!¡) 19:15, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking a look at that. I also saw that you've looked at Interstate 80 in Nebraska - I hope you fix anything else you come across there, as well. I admire all of the NE highways you've done - flipping through a lot of them has brought back a lot of good memories of the state. Thanks for all you've done. – Freechild (¡!¡!¡!¡) 20:39, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I DYK'd the transportation and I-80 articles - maybe I'll go for good article status with one/both of them. That's my next goal, to aim for those. About Transportation in Omaha, I added a section on water traffic - good call. And if you know anything about the development of the street cars downtown or anything, feel free to add it. Thanks. – Freechild (¡!¡!¡!¡) 23:46, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of U.S. Route 30 in Nebraska[edit]

A tag has been placed on U.S. Route 30 in Nebraska requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. and-rewtalk 20:32, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jefferson Square[edit]

Thanks for catching that error on locating Jefferson Square (Omaha). I dug up several new sources, all of which agree it was located smack dab in the middle of I-480, between North 15th, 16th, Chicago and Cass Streets. Interestingly enough, it was also always the aim of city leaders to use the space for something else: first a schoolhouse, then a library, then a market, then public baths... so its destruction by the hand of the Interstate construction gods appears inevitable! Thanks for prodding me to learn more. • Freechild'sup? 11:05, 30 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nebraska College Football Venues Template[edit]

Hi, DandyDan2007. Yes, Peru competes in the Midlands Conference for other sports, but the conference does not sponsor a championship in football. So, Peru is currently classified as an NAIA Football Independent per the NAIA 2007-08 Qualification Plan. Additionally, the school's press release for the up-coming season at "Bobcats 2008 Football Schedule Announced" specifically states that Peru "will again play an NAIA Independent schedule in 2008". Since this template is football-specific, I have reverted your edit reflect their status as independent. Best wishes. Gwguffey (talk) 03:20, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess you learn something new every day. I thought I had seen them listed with a conference affiliation on the Peru State website, but maybe it just doesn't mean anything. DandyDan2007 (talk) 10:46, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, they do compete in the Midlands Conference for sports other than football. So, football is the only sports in which they are independent. And they do have the Midlands logo as a part of the default template on their athletic site, so that logo shows up on every page...even football where it isn't relevant. Best wishes. Re: Nebraska highways[edit]

No problem.  :) I used the NDOR's site (the PDF) to fill in all the data, in conjunction with Google Maps to provide a good description of each route. I think the only errors would be classifying them as Stubs instead of Start class (on the discussion pages; NE2 started to correct those I saw). --Dbm11085 (talk) 18:08, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As a side note, if you would be able to provide some input here it would be much appreciated. --Dbm11085 (talk) 01:32, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Kevin Kugler[edit]

A tag has been placed on Kevin Kugler requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. EMT1871 (talk) 23:50, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Omaha is live![edit]

With support from a number of editors, WikiProject Omaha is now open for business, so to speak. Feel free to add your name to the list of editors and to add one of the spiffy templates to your user page. There is a list of open tasks and a resource list you can contribute to or help with, as well! Thanks for your interest in Omaha-related articles, and I look forward to working with you to make WikiProject Omaha a success. • Freechild'sup? 01:35, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MNSH participants list[edit]

As discussed at WT:USRD, the participants list at WP:USRD is being split by state. Since your name has multiple projects next to it, "MN" has been removed next to your name on the large USRD-wide table, and your name has been added to the MN specific table. This is part of the lengthy process. If this is in error, please let me know immediately. Regards, Rschen7754 (T C) 05:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Great work on K-9 (Kansas highway)! I'd give you a barnstar for it (and all your work on road entries in Wikipedia) but I'm not sure which barnstar to give...--Paul McDonald (talk) 13:21, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kansas interstates[edit]

Does kansas even still use specpfic-interstate shields in any writing documents. Interstate-Guide shade it in pink-purple; means Kansas is using both types of shields. Should we change those shields to make it look like ? i was told Kansas does not have access to state documnet, any proofs shows Kansas interstates look like ?--Freewayguy Msg USC 02:26, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have any specific documentation of what type of shields Kansas uses for their interstates, but having made a recent trip to Topeka and Lawrence, looks about right. DandyDan2007 (talk) 07:09, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Mexico[edit]

Scott told me New Mexico DOT is worse than Oklahoma, isn't New Mexico DOT honestly that bad. Scott said once he almost got lost in northeast New Mexico by lacking blue arrows pointing N,S,W,and E. But most signs I saw on interstate-guide like I-10 points to n,s,w,e. What Scott meant by New Mexico has poor signage. Is this true some other "Trans, DOT is even dangerous?--Freewayguy Msg USC 00:10, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Interstate 74 in Iowa, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Interstate 74 in Iowa. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Dakota County license plates[edit]

I've reverted your recent addition to List of counties in Nebraska concerning Dakota County's license plates. The county intended to drop the 70 prefix, as stated in the World-Herald story you cite; but public outcry prompted a reversal of the decision later that year. On the article's talk page, I've got a link to a Sioux City Journal story on the reversal. Unless you've got more recent information indicating that they've re-reversed it, we should probably leave out all reference thereto.

Nebraska L-28B[edit]

I started a the article in a sandbox. I'd like to have it go live right away, but I can't find any history about the road at all. Do you have anything? –Fredddie 22:15, 24 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wish I had something but I don't. I can't even remember off hand when they converted the road from a four lane highway to a freeway, except it was within the last ten years, although I do remember it happening. DandyDan2007 (talk) 05:15, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Got out my 2004 edition of Rand Mc Nally's street guide for Omaha and it shows the freeway exits in Elkhorn under construction, and I do remember there was still construction going on in 2005 for the US 275 portion of the freeway SE of Fremont, so the freeway conversion probably happened in 2004-5. Of course, that doesn't speak about anything which happened before the 1990's.DandyDan2007 (talk) 05:39, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Made a couple changes:1."Omaha's west side"=West Omaha and 2. it's West Dodge Road, not Dodge Road. FWIW, it's also West Center Road and West Maple Road, but there is no corresponding East Dodge, East Center, or East Maple, but Dodge Street, Center Street, and Maple Street.DandyDan2007 (talk) 05:34, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK, works for me. –Fredddie 21:35, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
One final point, I don't know where Omaha ends in that area, but I don't think Omaha goes west of the Elkhorn River, so the whole route is not in Omaha. Then again, I haven't looked at the route log lately.DandyDan2007 (talk) 05:44, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, it doesn't. But, I don't think Douglas is a township county, so we'd have to have location=none for the first few rows, and I think that looks bad. –Fredddie 21:35, 26 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Iowa/Nebraska 3-digit interstates[edit]

I was wondering if you can think of anything that could be added to I-129, I-480, and I-680. I'm knee-deep in a project to get all the interstates in Iowa to GA and create a FL to make it all a Good Topic. I need to go over I-680 again, but I think that's the closest of the three to GA. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notice

The article Mike McCarthy (businessman) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability requires independent sources

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
