@174.3.242.43: would like to discuss your reversion in the Danforth shooting article. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 01:43, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I will discuss it with that user. Sorry about not properly communicating my intentions! Aranyatalk 04:31, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

I don't see how the information I added in Narasimhan Ravikiran's page is not properly cited. It is a published article that clears him of the sexual harassment allegations. Why is this being removed repeatedly and why are we not allowed to update with the most recent information? Looks like this person's page has been targeted by vandals with some underlying motive. 47.35.190.5 (talk) 00:33, 14 April 2019 (UTC) vansur

Please take a look at Neil DeGrasse Tyson's page :- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_deGrasse_Tyson It cites the latest source that clears him of all the allegations. Vansur (talk) 00:37, 14 April 2019 (UTC) vansur

Hi @Vansur: the reasoning behind my decision was that in your edit, you removed a large amount of referenced material and a reference. The content removal didn't appear to be constructive, and you didn't give a valid reason for it in the edit summary. This wasn't necessarily about the added information, but rather the large amount of information you removed without explanation. Aranyatalk 01:35, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Keren Bergman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Making a draft

If you mean to make drafts, you should do so in userspace or through the article wizard. You've been making articles in mainspace with edit summaries that start out with an edit summary that say something like "Making a draft". The one I patrolled is okay, though. I just wanted you to know. -- I dream of horses  If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message  (talk to me) (My edits) @ 00:36, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi @I dream of horses: I meant to put that to indicate that I'm probably going to add or change some things to the article in the future, since I just made it. I'll try to be clearer next time! Aranyatalk 01:20, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

Women in Red

Hi there, Aranya, and welcome to Women in Red. I see you have already created a few biographies, including a couple about women. If you are interested in covering women from under-represented countries, you might find it useful to look through our redlists, particularly the section headed geography. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 09:16, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of Dr Hema Sane

Hi Team,

I have found that a page created by me regarding Dr Hema Sane is subjected to speedy deletion. I tried to create a page which is already published in Marathi language (please refer to https://mr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/हेमा_साने). It's about a great personality who is an academician, Nature lover, Author of various international papers in botany. Most special part about her is she has been living without using electricity for the last 60 years(Please refer to the news articles in deleted page). World have to learn a lot from her. With huge respect, I tried to create a page on such a wonder woman. But I felt very sad to know that it got deleted. In my view she deserves recognition and a wikipedia page. Wikipedia has many pages about celebrities, but having a page about a silent revolution like her can change many hearts. With all due respect, I request you to restore the page. (Also please suggest if I need to make any changes in the article)

Thanks Leela లీలా 14:58, 12 May 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leelaamayi (talkcontribs) 14:58, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Leelaamayi, and thanks for leaving me a message here. The page you created was deleted under A7 of Wikipedia's speedy deletion criteria, which means it was deleted because the content of the article did not credibly indicate the importance of the individual.
A good idea at this point could be to start a new draft for Dr. Hema Sane's page through the article wizard, where you can submit the draft and other users can review and suggest improvements to the draft, so that it is not later marked for deletion. I would also be very happy to help edit the draft or suggest any changes.
I hope you have a great day and I wish you happy editing! :) Aranya 15:46, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Arana, I am working to build up my editing skills and credibility so that I may create new articles / pages. About how long does that take? Manderson619 (talk) 00:50, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi Manderson619! Thanks for leaving me a message here. Users accounts who are part of the autoconfirmed and confirmed groups should be able to create articles, move pages, edit semi-protected pages, and upload files. Your account will usually be added that group automatically when satisfying two criteria: have made at least 10 edits and your account is more than four days old. I see you already satisfied the first criterion, so in the meantime, you can actually use Article Wizard to create articles. I hope you have a good day and I wish you happy editing! :) Aranya 01:30, 8 June 2019 (UTC)

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.255.6.82 (talkcontribs) 15:38, 28 June 2019 (UTC)

Hello, @Aranya: I'm User:MDPMHG. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you reverted my edit Help:Link one or more redlinks from Shruti Seth. I understand that redlinks can are helpful, so we don't remove them just because they are red. They help improve Wikipedia by attracting editors to create needed articles. But I removed it after checking it's notability that an article can be created on it or not.

I think that the article can be created but the proper sources are not available. And I assure and assume that we all are here to contribute and help grow and nurture Wikipedia. Thanks MDPMHG (talk) 05:06, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

About of Patrolling of IdeaPad article

Thanks for caring about these article, but sometimes this operation is a little bit excessive. This cause is just a moving of some paragraphs, and so, the dedicated Y series page now contain the all of removed content. 85.202.228.67 (talk) 14:25, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi 85.202.228.67, thanks for clarifying your reasoning. I didn't see an edit summary justifying the removal, so I didn't know why part of the page was blanked and assumed it was vandalism. Great work and happy editing! — Aranya (talk | contribs) 14:30, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

John Bladen, is there anyway you could provide a source (located either offline or online) that notes the recent renovations on Llanrumney Hall and its status as a community centre? We could then source the changes you would like to make on the article. —Aranya (talk | contribs) 14:56, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

Removed edit question, what was not constructive on it?

I wanted to know what caused my edot to be removed specifically so I can make whatever changes are needs just to that part. Thanks for any info. MichaHernz (talk) 16:38, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi MichaHernz! I reverted your edit because of a lot of the changes you made to the formatting and style of the article, as well as the external links that make up a good portion of the content added (which should not normally be used in the body of an article), don't mesh well with WP:MOS. It looks like some of the external links you added could be used as good sources for some of the statements, so try to add them back in the form of references. The edits you made are still available in the article revision history, so you are totally welcome to restore your additions and make any changes. Cheers! —Aranya (talk | contribs) 16:48, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi - just to let you know, I don't think there was anything wrong per se with your warning - you were following protocol with a level 2 warning for two vandalistic edits. However, since I'm pretty confident that this is the same person as added the material previously (very similar IPs), and it was overtly racist, I am confident that a reviewing sysop would agree that a 4im was warranted. concerning the page about "freedom of speech"

Freedom of speech is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or a community "to" articulate..... further irrelevant.

this right clearly says "freedom OF speech", not "freedom TO articulate".

this page is a load of lies, and you just literally removed the only truth that page has ever seen.

to be "FREE OF SOMETHING", does not mean YOU GET TO DO THAT THING, it is the EXACT OPPOSITE. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.104.104.33 (talk) 16:13, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi- the source for my edit is the same as the source for the original text. Both articles were updated and currently include the information I added. (To be honest I think that whole little section could be removed. The claim that wages would be lowered was all a misunderstanding and was never actually a plan. Some people got mad before they had all the info, so making it part of the "permanent record", so to speak, seems silly. But I'm a noob at editing, so I'll leave that for someone else to decide.) Misleading facts about kashmir

Aryana why are you misleading readers by reverting and tampering facts. You are adding wrong facts on page of Jammu and ladakh. It is a disputed land claimed by india and Pakistan. United Nations have pledged to hold a plebiscite for deciding future if kashmir by will of kashmiris. You needed citations and then removed citations after their addition. How can you ignore United nation based security council resolution requested by Nehru PM. Ngnrpu (talk) 11:13, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi Ngnrpu. I only reverted your first and second edit of the article, where you added information that did not cite any sources. That is where this warning on your talk page came from. It is your responsibility to provide sources for your changes. See WP:RS for what constitutes a reliable source and WP:REFB for a guide to adding references. —Aranya (talk) 13:36, 6 August 2019 (UTC)

Here are the citations for the Washington Post,(https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/therootdc/post/paul-ryan-and-the-scary-future-of-public-education-in-america/2012/08/30/a981ae0c-f2ad-11e1-a612-3cfc842a6d89_blog.html) Ebony.com,(https://www.ebony.com/news/chappelle-incident-shatters-silence-443/

People magazine (https://people.com/archive/an-american-original-vol-60-no-2/)

It should also be noted that she was the first to have founded 2004: The Hartford Guardian.

The television news outlets do not have citations of work history. The best way to verify whether she worked for CT News12, NBC4 New York and FOX News is to call the stations HR department and verify the work history.

She is also a historian. She is the first, in 2010, to publish work based on serious scholarship on the social history that covers the entire arc of blacks in Connecticut from the colonial period to the twentieth century. She is also the first Hartford-based scholar to cover the full arc of black education in Connecticut, which focuses on Sheff v. Rollback granted

Hi Aranya. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.

Re: Recent deletion of editing change

Kia ora

The change that you mentioned; the source is from the same place as the citation for the rest of the original sentence, just later on in the article. This is the original citation page: https://nzhistory.govt.nz/war/maori-units-nzef and this is my source, later on in the same article: https://nzhistory.govt.nz/war/maori-in-first-world-war/pioneer-battalion

I didn't put the source because it was the same article, I thought the same citation would suffice. But if you want to include it, all good.

Help! to restore

  • Hi, I have posted a request on talk page of Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil to add some information.

I am new to wikipedia and don't know how to add informations. I tried very hard to add these information in the article but it lead to disruption of article. Would you help in adding those informations in the article? For more details visit to Talk:Shamsheer Vayalil. Thank you. (223.230.161.1 (talk) 11:49, 19 August 2019 (UTC))

Hi 223.230.161.1, I will see what I can do with the article. Cheers! —Aranya (talk) 03:50, 20 August 2019 (UTC)
  • By the way I had provided reliable sources as links for those information which I asked you to add in the article. So you will find no problem.

Thanks.:-) (223.230.131.235 (talk) 15:58, 20 August 2019 (UTC))

  • If you not comfortable in adding those informations you can let me know. I will never mind.

Thank you(223.230.151.105 (talk) 16:26, 22 August 2019 (UTC))

Sounds good! Thank you for letting me know. Aranya (talk) 18:15, 22 August 2019 (UTC)
  • Can you recommend about any user who can add those information? I hope you must be knowing of an user who is more experienced than you in editing wikipedia.

Thank you. (223.230.151.105 (talk) 03:50, 23 August 2019 (UTC))

I am honestly not sure I can recommend any specific users, since there are so many great editors on Wikipedia, including the editors who already made improvements to the article on Shamsheer Vayalil. Best wishes and happy editing. —Aranya (talk) 14:35, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

Venus Xtravaganza

My edit is not vandalism. Putting her birth name which is considered a deadname on her page is triggering for trans people and disrespectful to her memory. Please stop reverting the changes to the birth name. She is known as and famous for being Venus. That was her name. Respect that and her lived experience. Legaleagle2025 (talk) 13:58, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi Legaleagle2025, thank you for writing to me on my talk page. I want to clarify that I personally did not find your edit to be vandalism. I made only one revert to the article, when I reverted one change where an entire sentence was added into the 'birth_name' parameter of the infobox. I found this change to be added in good faith, but not necessarily in line with the policy of neutral point of view used within Wikipedia articles. That is the only reasoning behind where this talk page warning came from. Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, and happy editing! :-) —Aranya (talk) 14:54, 25 August 2019 (UTC)

A page you created has been nominated for deletion as an attack page, according to section G10 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

Do not create pages that attack, threaten, or disparage their subject or any other entity. Attack pages and files are not tolerated by Wikipedia, and users who create or add such material may be blocked from editing. NinjaStrikers «» 11:10, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Ninjastrikers, could you tell me what this could possibly be for and why I am being warned in such a stern fashion? I am confident that I am not creating pages nor adding content to pages that attack, threaten, or disparage their subject or any other entity. —Aranya (talk) 11:50, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
Sorry, I make a nomination to User talk:Mr Bum B page, that has attacked content added to that page by user-self. I added the nomination by Twinkle tool and the automated warning from Twinkle was reached to you as the User talk:Mr Bum B was firstly created by you from giving a warning to that user. I am so sorry for the inconvenience. NinjaStrikers «» 14:01, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
P.S. The attacked content from User talk:Mr Bum B was deleted and restored only the warning. NinjaStrikers «» 14:04, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
That makes sense! Thanks for the message and the explanation. —Aranya (talk) 15:02, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi. I'm just wondering how old are you and what is your role on wikipedia? Are you an editor for wikipedia? In other words, do you work for the website or are you just a user of the website? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Unknown101-cherryst.lane (talkcontribs) 06:22, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi Unknown101-cherryst.lane! Thanks for leaving me a message here. I volunteer my time as an editor on Wikipedia. I usually do things like patrol the recent changes log, and address issues such as vandalism and unreliably sourced content additions. Please let me know if you have any more questions. :) —Aranya (talk) 19:52, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Sure NoMoreBeansImFull! I've added a bunch of links to your talk page where you can learn more about fixing articles. Some of them are pretty long articles, so definitely don't feel obligated to read into them that much. If you'd rather just ask any questions you have, some good places to check out are the help desk, the Teahouse question forum, and other editors' talk pages like mine. Have fun! CoI on my contribution

Hello Aranya, thank you for the review and your comments. The contribution that I have made to my article cannot be termed as CoI since all the data is readily available in the reference, I have just collected them and added them in a proper format. Let me know what needs to be removed or deleted, I will make the said changes. Awaiting your response. Manas.chafekar (talk) 01:58, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

Hello Manas.chafekar! Thank you for writing to me on my talk page. I would mainly confirm that the article's subject is proven to be notable according to Wikipedia's guidelines on notability, and that the article contains content that cites reliable sources and is written from a neutral point of view, since the subject is a living person.
I see that you have submitted the article as an Article for Creation (AfC). Someone active at AfC will likely review your article, and accept or decline it. They will provide reasoning behind their decision, and also possibly suggest improvements that can be made to the article. Please let me know if you have any more questions! —Aranya (talk) 14:33, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

Hello Aranya, thank you for the comments. I understand that you have checked the notability and references of the article, and everything seems ok. My question is related to the CoI comment you posted. Should I be making any changes to the template / content to rectify it? As suggested earlier, the data in the article is picked from references over net and shaped into a wiki article. Manas.chafekar (talk) 19:11, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

In regards to the comment I posted on your user talk page, that would only warrant that you disclose any conflicts of interest with topics you work with on Wikipedia on your userpage. You can follow the brief tutorial on the Wikipedia:DISCLOSE page, if there might be any conflicts that you would like to disclose. —Aranya (talk) 20:57, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
Hello Aranya, thank you for the inputs. I would like to disclose that the article is for family member, though the creation process is purely based on reference articles only. I could not find the template that i can use to insert this disclosure into the article. Can you help me with it?Manas.chafekar (talk) 00:02, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
Sure! Go ahead and create your user page by clicking on User:Manas.chafekar, and typing (or pasting) the text contained within the following gray-colored box: {{UserboxCOI|1=Suryakant Chintaman Chafekar}}. Then, click the "Publish page" button, and you are finished. Please let me know if this works, or if you would like me to create the user page. —Aranya (talk) 00:18, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for the inputs . I have added the userbox in the article and published it. This declaration will remain even after the article is review and approved? Does the CoI pose a threat of rejection to this article? Like I have mentioned earlier, the article is based on reference and not on any other reasons like family ties, etc. Plus you have verified that the subject is proven notable. I am not sure after this CoI declaration if it will impact the approval of this wiki page? - Manas.chafekar (talk) 01:30, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
Excellent! I have actually moved the userbox to your user page located at User:Manas.chafekar, since you do not have to put it in the article itself. Unfortunately, the approval of the article is not my hands, but rather in someone working in the Articles for Creation team, so I do not know how it may affect their decision. For improving your article submission, please feel free to request assistance at the AfC helpdesk, or possibly ask questions at the Teahouse question forum. Thank you for your cooperation, and I wish you the best. Aranya (talk) 01:39, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for all the help. Much appreciated. Fingers crossed for the next approval steps :). Have a nice day! - Manas.chafekar (talk) 01:45, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

loudgain

Hi Aranya,

thanks for your help on the loudgain draft (categories). I’m totally new to Wikipedia editing and might make a zillion mistakes. Did you actually change it for me? Looks like …

I also declared a COI because the wizard told me so: As the developer I’m of course "near" the project, but I gain absolutely no financial benefits from programming it or editing here, hope I did that right. Then again, only the developer can talk best about the inner workings, I thought. And loudgain is a free and open source project anyway.

Hope I wrote neutral enough and didn’t do too much wrong.

Moonbase59 (talk) 14:31, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Moonbase59! Looking at the draft, I think you are right that the issue has been fixed. Also, on a side note, I would suggest that you improve your draft by proving the subject's notability with reliable sources. That way, when other editors review your draft, they can see how the subject warrants its own article on Wikipedia. Feel free to let me know if you have anymore questions or concerns! —Aranya (talk) 19:40, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

Need your help

Greetings, I am a new Wikipedian and I need your help. Can you review this: Draft:Rohingya Language Academy and check is there anything you can add or need to remove.. if you have enough information about that you can also add and remove. If you think the article is suitable for review.. please let me know. Thank you! ArakaneseRohingya (talk) 13:24, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Hello ArakaneseRohingya! Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I would suggest to add more content that cites reliable sources. Also, the Wikipedia article that is currently cited is not too appropriate for the article, since it is not a reliable source. Those would be good places to start improving the article. Cheers! —Aranya (talk) 16:31, 14 September 2019 (UTC)

Total Xposure

I have no idea why the redirect keeps being deleted, this was a one off show, 10 years ago, for the presenter on a Z list celebrity gossip show, and most people would not remember it. I think there needs to be a discussion on whether this should be a separate article or not. 86.47.45.146 (talk) 17:43, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi 86.47.45.146! Please feel free to start the discussion at the article's talk page, so that you can seek consensus with other editors before changing the article into a redirect. Please don't try to institute the change before obtaining consensus, since there seems to be other editors that don't agree with it (and your edits may be seen as disruptive). Please see the edit history of Finns party. Other editors also agree with me — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.247.18.62 (talk) 12:07, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

At this point, it would be best to just discuss the change on the article's talk page rather than implement it, as to avoid edit warring. —Aranya (talk) 12:17, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

Already the discussion has been started in the talk page but there is no response from editor Jeff6045 who made the change and who has opposing view. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.247.18.62 (talk) 12:30, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

Another method of discussing the change with the editor is to engage with them on their own talk page, as you have done on mine. Hopefully you can possibly reach a compromise on the content of the article there. —Aranya (talk) 12:57, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

An edit

I have undone this edit of yours as it introduced a typo, changed a direct quotation, and changed a spelling to American English contrary to WP:EngVar. DuncanHill (talk) 19:19, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi DuncanHill, I just undid an edit by an IP user and reverted the article to a version by you, since the edit I reverted introduced a misspelling ("hhas") into the quotation.—Aranya (talk) 19:33, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
Sorry, I misread part of the diff. You did, however, change "defence" to "defense". DuncanHill (talk) 19:47, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Aranya,

My article was tagged for speedy deletion and somebody deleted it? Why was that?

Sayujsmenon (talk) 16:29, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

The editor who nominated the draft for speedy deletion left a message explaining their decision on your talk page (added in this edit). It seems you have already contacted the deleting administrator about the deletion, so I would recommend that you continue your correspondence with that editor.—Aranya (talk) 17:05, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

COI

Hi Aranya!

Thank you for the helping out with the page. I'm really new to this whole Wikipedia thing, but I declared my conflict of interest because Wikipedia told me to. I am connected to Shameless Podcast as I know the hosts personally, but I am not being paid to create the page. I just thought I'd create the page because of its popularity, and edit accordingly. All my words have been adequately backed up by strong references and I tried to speak using neutral language - could you please direct me to how I can improve/how I go about getting rid of the COI tag? Thank you so much :) Shamelessannabellelee (talk) 08:04, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

Shamelessannabellelee, you can (and do) have a conflict of interest without necessarily being paid. Cabayi (talk) 10:35, 3 October 2019 (UTC)
Shamelessannabellelee, you still may have a conflict of interest despite not being paid, as Cabayi iterated above. It seems the conflict of interest has been correctly disclosed on your user page and on the article. I would strongly recommend that you not edit with an intention to promote, especially when considering a subject you have a conflict of interest with, which has been clear in edits like this or this one.—Aranya (talk) 11:53, 3 October 2019 (UTC)

Versions of English

Hi Aranya,

You gave me a notification about editing one version of English to another. My apologies, if I had realised the spelling was correct in some form of English, I wouldn't have edited it. Thanks for your message, keep up the good work. JRVilleneuve (talk) 03:05, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

Correction on a page

Hi, I made a correction to the page on okra. the change I made reflects the accurate representation of the cited sources, which are misquoted in thecurrent text. However, because I did not change the citations (as they are not needed, I am correcting an incorrect citation, not the source itself) for some reason Wikipedia rejected the edit. Can this be fixed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.112.238.250 (talk) 22:51, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

Hello 190.112.238.250. Yes! Please feel free to restore the information that was changed, as long as it is supported with citations to reliable sources.—Aranya (talk) 23:02, 6 October 2019 (UTC)

Casteist reference is will be removed. Indeed Wikipedia should do something against this. Primitive Indians have spread across the net. 223.228.58.156 (talk) 18:48, 7 October 2019 (UTC)

About some unscientific statements in the Wikipedia page of India based neutrino observatory

There are some unscientific statements and lies about the India based neutrino observatory on its wikipedia page, added by some people with vested interests against the project. Like the one which states that the cavern is 1200 m deep. This is not correct. Also the page is supposed to be a scientific one liek the pages for other neutrino physics experiments. If the controversies have to be published those should be made separate. It is as if someone is deliberately trying to defocus the readers' attention from the acutal science of INO by putting in non-science related information on that page. It is also as if the page has become a gossip column rather than one giving acutal scientific information to students checking the page to know what the detector is what the physics goals of the experiment are etc. There is no science content on that page which is very pathetic and will make Indians and people of Tamil Nadu look like a bunch of idiots for not putting any correct information or science on it. Whomsoever is editing that page is also not allowing any other user to remove false statements like the "deep cavern" etc whereas it is clear as daylight that the cavern is a horizontal one. Someone is deliberately using this wikipedia page for spreading misinformation against the project and ruin the science educaiton of Tamil Nadu and India. To be honest that page is a very pathetic page with poor scientific content and no correct information about the science of the project. It is obvious that whomsoever is editing the page has no science forget even physics background and has never heard of any neutrino experiments ever! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.241.141.198 (talk) 18:16, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

Hello, thank you for writing to me about your concerns about the India-based Neutrino Observatory article. This IP address recently made edits removing content and templates from the article without giving valid reason for the removal in the edit summaries. You are free to constructively edit the article to implement your desired changes, but at this point, it would be best to discuss your concerns with other editors on the article talk page, as to avoid potentially edit warring. – Aranya (talk) 19:23, 16 October 2019 (UTC)

  • @Dremlife: Your edit was removed because it is obviously not WP:NEUTRAL and simply your opinion. At Wikipedia we rely on reliable, secondary sources to support what we say here. Your edit did not contain any citations to support your statement, even if it was neutral. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:54, 27 October 2019 (UTC)

Question

Question
Hey why did you revert my deletion on the C Spire wiki page? Redmanreb123 (talk) 20:32, 29 October 2019 (UTC)
Redmanreb123, you have repeatedly removed the content from the article despite the fact that other editors have disagreed with you. This can be considered edit warring and may cause you to get blocked from editing. Especially considering your clear conflict of interest, I highly suggest that you attempt to reach a consensus with other users on what the article says by clearly communicating your concerns on the article's talk page. – Aranya (talk) 20:44, 29 October 2019 (UTC)

Halo Franchise and other edits

Firstly, are you a bot (no offence if you are), because all of your messages are the same. Anyway, I apologise for my acts of vandalism on the "Scarlet Pimpernel" page. I have a problem though, as what I wrote on the "Halo" page was true facts. I understand if it was slightly opionated, but otherwise could you please contact me back. Thank you From: User — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7F:C414:6800:D031:5849:B3C5:9F82 (talk) 13:49, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

I actually did not revert those edits. They were marked as vandalism and automatically undone by an actual bot, which left a warning on your talk page regarding your edit. If you want to learn more about editing on Wikipedia, please feel free to leave me more messages, or maybe even check out the Teahouse or the help desk. – Aranya (talk) 17:02, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi Aranya,

What's the right way to remove information that is irrelevant to the topic?

Thanks, Thomas F. Scharff (talk) 13:52, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Thomas F. Scharff! Please feel free to reinstate the edit you made earlier. However, please try to provide a bit more helpful edit summary that explains why the removed content is irrelevant (other than the fact that it is irrelevant content), so that other editors can understand your reasoning behind the edit. Help with the page "Indila"

Hi, I'm very sorry to disturb you and I am sorry that I don't know the conventions of Wikipedia, so am probably doing things wrong...but I need help. I am a fan of the artist Indila and someone who I know ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ephraimsklyansky_10 ) has a grudge against me, and because of that he is now trying to sabotage Indila's page. I've seen that you reverted his edits but he has already tried it about 10 times this afternoon, so I am asking if you can block him from doing that...he has a history of doing this and I believe he won't stop until he is blocked.

Thank you for your help, and please forgive my incorrect use of the Wikipedia conventions. Joey26Indila 5.11.2019 Joey26Indila (talk) 19:30, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

Deleting Request of Searfi Content

Hi Aranya,

I created in the sandbox today a draft of a text I was working on to explain what Searfi is. I understand it's seen as promotional. I wasn't finished yet. I would like to explain on Wiki what Searfi is. It's a new name and term. From Search and Find. We created it as part of our platform. I see many other companies on Wiki, e.g. Talabat, Uber Eats, Souq.com which are all Middle East companies and they were listed very early in Wikipedia. Also Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. If there is a new name or term appearing online, people want to search for the term, see it exists and what it means. Can we do just that and refer as reference to us? The word is not existing and we want to make it a trend. There is no one else with the name out there and we want to make sure it's connected to what we do. Make a suggestion how we can do it. Also, from what stage is a company name warranted to appear on Wiki?

Thanks, Stefanie — Preceding unsigned comment added by Searfi (talkcontribs) 19:22, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Stefanie! It is usually against Wikipedia's guidelines to make edits and create article about your own company due to a conflict of interest. In response to your questions, for the company to be notable enough to be included in Wikipedia, it must have significant coverage in multiple independent and reliable secondary sources. You can read more about the notability criteria for companies on Wikipedia on the WP:COMPANY page.
Another issue that comes to mind is the username of the account you're editing under. Since it unambiguously represents the name of the company you are promoting, continuing to make promotional edits under this username will yield a block. The page WP:Changing username/Simple contains information about how you can change your username to something that abides by the username policy. Once you've taken the steps to address this issue, I will be able to help you more. Cheers!– Aranya (talk) 21:22, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi, everyone, I recently begun to writing articles about peoples and places which are close to me, which are familiar to me! So, I began to writing article for my favorite kickboxer Zarrukh Adashev. I have tried several times to write new article for him, but as someone had written an article for Zarrukh Adashev already(with a lot of mistakes, and therefore this one was not accepted by you), therefore I can not to writing an new article for Zarrukh Adashev. I ask for you help me in this case. What should I do? --Invisible12345 (talk) 14:59, 16 November 2019 (UTC)Invisible12345

@Invisible12345: If your question was meant only for Aranya then it shouldn't have a "Help me" tag, as she will see messages on her own talk page anyway, without the tag. If the question was meant for anyone to answer, then it should be on your talk page, not Aranya's. I am closing the "Help me" tag, but if you would like to invite answers from any editor then repost it on your own talk page. JBW (talk) Formerly JamesBWatson 16:04, 16 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Invisible12345, I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to your message. It doesn't seem to me that someone has already written an article for Zarrukh Adashev. Is there anyway you can provide a link for the other article on him?
Looking at the draft that you have been working on for Zarrukh Adashev, it seems to me that it's already been reviewed for inclusion as a Wikipedia article twice. According to the review comments (which can seen on this page, at the top), the draft doesn't meet our notability requirements for MMA fighters. One of the criteria for MMA fighters is that they have fought at least three pro fights in a top tier organization. Unfortunately, Zarrukh Adashev doesn't yet meet this criteria according to his professional record. This is because nearly all of their fights have been for the Bellator Fighting Championships after 2016, which we don't classify as a top-tier (according to our MMA notability policy).
However, this doesn't mean the subject doesn't qualify for an article. They might qualify for an article if the draft passes some of our other guidelines (like the general guidelines on this page). Additionally, if they fight enough pro fights in a top tier MMA organization like the UFC in the future, they would certainly be notable for inclusion on Wikipedia.
I understand that these policies can sometimes be confusing or ambiguous, so if you have any more questions or need any help on anything, please don't hesitate to let me or other Wikipedians know. I hope you have a good day and wish you the best editing on Wikipedia! Aranya (talk) 14:25, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! For Wikipedia Asian Month, you are totally free to write in English when you edit articles here on English Wikipedia. Most of the time, we usually write in the language of the respective Wikipedia we are editing on. If you would like to edit in languages other than English, the Hindi Wikipedia is also participating in Wikipedia Asian Month, and you can find it on this page on the Hindi Wikipedia. You can also find participating Wikipedias in other languages on this page! COI template removed for Vanila Singh

I have reviewed the page as it is been reverted to its primary previous edit therefore after reviewing the profile of the person who made last changes I have checked this article is written in a neutral tone, therefore, removed the COI Tag — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.93.222.6 (talk) 18:44, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi there, and thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. I see that you have replaced the COI template with a cleanup template with a similar description. Since no other changes other than this replacement were made in order to address the COI issue, I have restored the original tag. You are totally welcome to make changes to the article, however, please let a more experienced editor, or the editor who originally placed the template, remove the template once steps are taken to resolve the issue. Cheers – Aranya (talk) 18:51, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

Thank you I was just trying to help, can you please let me know I just want to help the community and learn from my experiences, I would like to know what is the correct way to remove such tags as this is something I am having problems with.

One way is to first address any issues with Wikipedia's content policies before removing the template. A good place to start is to see if the article abides by the neutral point of view policy, especially with the lead and the Career sections of the article (the core of the article). To do this, you are free to directly make edits to the article so that we can remove the tag when appropriate. You can also propose changes on the article talk page by using the {{edit request}} template, or by posting a message like you have done before. – Aranya (talk) 19:24, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

Reverting Quantum Corporation Changes

Hello - You recently put the templates back on that notes a potential conflict of interest and some additional citations. If I've already shown the conflict of interest, doesn't that suffice? Also, where else needs citations? I am hoping I can provide whatever information is necessary to remove those.

Picard091488 (talk) 18:58, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Picard091488, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, just stating your conflict of interest doesn't suffice; please make sure you understand our WP:COI and WP:PAID policies, and that you've taken the necessary steps in clarifying the relationship to your employer on your userpage.
I understand your concern about the additional citations template - I've replaced it with a more suitable one, since the article cites a great deal of primary sources, which may not be independent sources. Explaining

Hi Aranya. Firstly I would say you thanks for your answer, and my apologies for making mistakes in case "Help me "tag:).

Here is the link Draft:Zarrukh Adashev of the Draft of Article for Zarrukh Adashev, which I trying to write soon enough for his Fans. In Russian Wikipedia, there is already article for him, you can check it by this Адашев, Заррух Бахтиярович.

Last but not least, according to your notability requirement for MMA fighters, every fighter must have faught at least three pro fights in a top tier organizations. So, now Zarrukh has four pro fights and next one on December 6th. And also, now he is current ISKA World Champion under the GloryWorldSeries promotion.

I would be so glad, If you permit to me to write an new article for him.:)

Thank you! --Invisible12345 (talk) 18:48, 17 November 2019 (UTC)Invisible12345

Hi again Invisible12345 - please feel free to write a new article for him! That would be great. Good resources to keep in mind while writing the article could be the MMA fighter policy that I mentioned before, as well as the WP:MMABOX page that can be useful for writing a fighting record. Cheers – Aranya (talk) 20:24, 17 November 2019 (UTC)

Thank you so much! I will use these sources, of course. My last question,What steps I should to do? to write a new real article, not draft! Can you give me some Instructions for this?

Thank you one more time!!!

Hello again Invisible12345 . So, the draft seems to already gave been reviewed for inclusion as a Wikipedia article twice before and declined due to his notability as an MMA fighter. According to his professional record, he still has not fought at least three pro fights in a top tier organization - three of his four fights have been for the Bellator Fighting Championships after 2016. We don't classify any Bellator fights after 2016 as a top-tier promotion (according to the policy on MMA promotions). However, this might change in the future, since you mentioned before that he has some upcoming fights in December (which may contribute to his notability as an MMA fighter). Those upcoming fights might be something good to add to the draft, to contribute to his notability. It would also be great to add more reliable sources to the draft, since much of the biographical content does not cite any source.
Feel free to place the {{help me}} template on your user talk page if you have any more concerns. The Teahouse or the help desk are also good places to ask questions. I hope you have a good day and I wish you happy editing! – Aranya (talk) 00:42, 22 November 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Federal Railroad Administration

Why did you undo my edit on the FRA page? The information that was removed is out of date (shows the wrong "acting administrator" and current administrator as not even confirmed yet) and also has wildly unnecessary information not related to federal Railroad Administration (such as an former ACTING administrator's work for a Texas sheriff). Everything I deleted did nothing to further the page. The deletes cleaned it up and made it so there was no partial and poor description of arbitrarily selected administrators and acting administrators (that weren't even in order of dates they were there). Please re-review the edit, thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8805:dc00:14d0:21b5:e3ce:17eb:2ea4 (talk) 01:02, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi! The edit in question seems to have removed multiple paragraphs of sourced content. I thought that the majority of the removed content was relevant to that section, though it can certainly be trimmed down a bit and organized better (which I will do soon). Please feel free to update or remove the section - just try explain the changes you are making in the edit summary, like you did before, and provide reliable sources for any new information you might add. – Aranya (talk) 04:12, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
I've made some changes to the article to make the List of administrators section a bit more readable and cohesive, though it certainly needs improvement. – Aranya (talk) 04:42, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for revisiting the edit. Respectfully though, I think it’s actually worse with the (what seems unnecessary and still out of date and incorrect) short “bios” leading the neat list of administrators. Removing those paragraphs would not only make it clean and correct, but it would also make it match the administrator section of FRA’s sister agencies the FAA, FHWA, and FTA. Maybe removing all the current paragraph and inserting a very brief paragraph stating Ronald Batory’s nomination date and confirmation date would be okay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8805:dc00:14d0:21b5:e3ce:17eb:2ea4 (talk) 08:40, 24 November 2019‎ (UTC)

OK, that makes sense - I've actually boldly removed the few paragraphs of incomplete history in favor of just having the more complete table of administrators. Hopefully, if anyone objects with the change, we can work towards a better version of the section. Please let me know if there might be any other concerns! Cheers – Aranya (talk) 15:57, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Blowin' in the Wind typo fix

Hi Aranya, I changed content that was already cited, but misquoted, for the Blowin' in the Wind entry. And my edit was removed because I didn't provide a source. How would I make a new citation to support my correction when the content is already cited? If you read the sentence that I modified, you can tell that it is an incomplete sentence. Thanks! Junco Bath (talk) 19:20, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Junco Bath, and thanks for reaching out. I've restored your old edit because you're absolutely correct. The original source that the quote cited includes the word you added, so it seems that the word was oddly omitted for some reason when the quote was added into the article. Thank you so much for catching my mistaken reversion - please let me know if there is anything else I can help out with! Cheers – Aranya (talk) 19:33, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi, The edit that I made is not a mistake, it was done purposefuly to address several issues regarding this Wiki, such as: 1. Page neutrality (raised since 2017) 2. Be careful with your poorly considered reverts. This revert was improper because you restored self published sources[1] that don't even support the WP:OR done on that page by a drive by POV pusher. 2402:3A80:8FF:F7B3:86DC:881:F658:6A51 (talk) 14:24, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

It was not a poorly considered revert. Next time, please consider putting more care into explaining why you made certain changes through your edit summaries, rather than a short, three word explanation, so that the reasoning behind the change can be understood. Cheers – Aranya (talk) 14:41, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

Removed article

Sorry I not sure what citations mean? My addition to ‘Disasters’ was removed due to lack of citations etc. The only references I have are from physical newspapers from that year, witness accounts from employees and from my own memory as a survivor of this factory disaster. I cannot seem to find anything useful online with regards to what happened. Please help as I’d like my addition reinstated. Thank you Andy Macker62 (talk) 20:36, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi Macker62, and thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! We usually use citations or references to identify the source of information in articles. If you can provide a citation to a reliable source in the addition, like the physical newspapers you mentioned, you are absolutely free to reinstate it. If you would like, I can restore the addition for you, with citations to the newspapers, if you can provide me with the information about the newspaper. This might include the author's name, the title of the article, the name of the newspaper, the date of publication, and any other information you think might be useful. – Aranya (talk) 21:22, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

Reply to removed article.

Hi Aryana, thanks for your reply. I’m currently trying to get access to the Archive centre in the town where I was living when i survived this tragedy. I’m also in contact with the local newspaper team and awaiting their reply.

With regards to the original newspapers, i have to check that I still have them. I’m 98% sure I do so watch this space.

I find it very sad that I’m unable to find anything at all online, detailing what happened on this day. So I’ve decided to present something myself as a mark of respect to the deceased and their families, the injured and those who’ve suffered for years the horror of what happened. Thanks to Wikipedia.

Thank you for your offer to help, I’ll be in touch shortly. Andy Macker62 (talk) 21:31, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

Sounds good - best of luck in getting access to the materials! Feel free to let me know whenever it is most convenient. Aranya (talk) 23:19, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

Abhignayss

Hello! You undone my edit with incorrect information,i edited again, please do some research before undoing my edits ,thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abhignayss (talkcontribs) 02:42, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi Abhignayss, and welcome to Wikipedia. The main issue with the edit in question was that it did not provide a reliable source for the information it added to the article. This is especially important because the edit modified the cause of death provided for the article subject. If you can also provide a reliable source in addition to the modified information, please feel free to reinstate the edit. – Aranya (talk) 02:59, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

Vandalism

Im interested in fighting vandalism.Where and how do I start?2601:4C4:4000:CFE0:C147:8967:9763:8A6 (talk) 01:32, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! You can start by creating an account, which provides several benefits, including being able to make new articles - though you are totally welcome to keep editing without using an account.
The simplest thing you can do to respond to vandalism is to just remove or undo it. A good place to look out for vandalism is the recent changes page, which can be accessed from the sidebar often on the left side of your screen (under Interaction). Here, you can adjust the edit filters to find and respond to edits that were likely made in bad faith and/or might be vandalism. The page Wikipedia:Vandalism also might be worth a read, since it is a more detailed guide about vandalism on Wikipedia, including how to properly identify vandalism, and it lists some useful tools for responding to it (like Twinkle and mobileUndo).
I've also added a welcome message on your IP talk page that contains some links to guidelines on general editing here on Wikipedia. If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to leave me another message here on my talk page. Happy editing! – Aranya (talk) 02:32, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Help

Hey Aranya, I was wondering if you could help me as im a bit new to editing. There was an official announcement about a name change that should be represented on the article but idk how to do it. Thanks SerVasi (talk) 17:01, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi SerVasi! If you're talking about changing the name of the article, you can do that by moving the page. That can usually be done by pressing the "Move" button under the "More" tab (if you're using the desktop version of Wikipedia). It might be better to request a move though, especially if others may disagree with the change. The WP:RM page would probably be a good read for any types of moves you want to request (from technical moves to potentially controversial name changes). – Aranya (talk) 21:04, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

Will try, thanks for helping. SerVasi (talk) 22:33, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the Warm Welcome!!

I'm a newbie in editing as well as writing on Wiki. The syntax is also very new to me, so I may ask a lot of silly questions later so please bear with me.

We try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view.

A barnstar for you!

Thanks for your hard work. I just wanted to let you know your efforts are appreciated. Cheers! Ifnord (talk) 22:47, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi Ifnord, and thank you! I really appreciate the kind words. Aranya (talk) 01:29, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

I wondered why someone with access to my network would fiddle with the article on "Proletariat". Knew it wasn't me -- THEN IT CLICKED...

My middle schooler was studying Marxism in Social Studies. A short interrogation later and my 13 year old son confessed to the whole thing. We've discussed his decision to bring middle school humor to Wikipedia. I think (hope) he will not do it again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.98.49.242 (talk) 05:12, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

CMA Open Access Anniversary Campaign

Hello! I'm sending you this message as you're a member of WikiProject Cleveland Museum of Art. January 23rd was the one-year anniversary of the CMA's Open Access initiative, and they put up a great blog post of the outcomes and collaborations that have resulted from it (including impacts on Wikimedia projects, and the creation of WikiProject Cleveland Museum of Art).

To recognize this anniversary, we're hosting a Open Access Anniversary Editing Campaign through February 9; anyone who creates an article or expands two articles by 100+ words each will receive a postcard from the CMA. Cheers, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 02:44, 27 January 2020 (UTC)

DYK for Personal preference kit

On 28 January 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Personal preference kit, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in the Apollo 11 spaceflight, Neil Armstrong brought two pieces of the Wright Flyer to the Moon in his personal preference kit? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Personal preference kit. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Personal preference kit), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
