NSW elections[edit]

Why are you changing vote totals here? Where is your information coming from? (If you provide edit summaries you can explain this kind of thing.) Frickeg (talk) 05:11, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm getting the vote totals from the UWA elections database (example:http://elections.uwa.edu.au/elecdetail.lasso?keyvalue=738) The vote totals formerly displayed where surpassed because between 1920 and 1927 they used STV. AustralianSwingVoter
We've had a lot of problems with the UWA database being very sloppy in the past. I would not trust that as a source over the existing source, which is the closest thing to a definitive record of NSW electoral results. The Drover's Wife (talk) 23:10, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is is that the existing source, which appears to be a database built by Antony Green for the NSW Parliament is broken. I can't find the source page anywhere. AustralianSwingVoter
Many of these pages were constructed from physical book sources. UWA should only be used as a source of absolute last resort in my book - and the physical book source is always preferable. The Drover's Wife (talk) 23:36, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I dug up Antony Green's site, which confirms the book results. As usual, UWA is wildly sloppy: their totals are off by hundreds of thousands and I'm having trouble working out what in blazes they've actually done to get there. It looks like they might have taken the total number of people on the electoral roll (not that actually voted), taken the percentages actually received by each party from somewhere, and then taken it out of the total enrolled figure? This is what we mean when we tell you it's a dreadfully unreliable source. The Drover's Wife (talk) 23:42, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Would you mind reverting the changes you've made in the last few days? Most of our articles on NSW elections are now quite severely wrong, it seems. The Drover's Wife (talk) 23:44, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for August 28[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 1977 Northern Territory general election, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tom Harris. An article you recently created, Electoral results for the Chelsea Province, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. noq (talk) 11:14, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Electoral results for the former provinces of the Victorian Legislative Council requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. --TheImaCow (talk) 17:44, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Template[edit]

Apologies for the revert there. As I remembered, we'd used "countbacks" for the other equivalent articles and I felt that was a more descriptive name, not realising that a) the ACT article already existed at that name, and b) apparently I created it at that title, which makes it a bit stupid for me to dispute now!
