Revert at Kaul[edit]

Hi, I was not aware that Jais Chauhan had copied your draft to Kaul without agreement. I notice that you did not object to that action and subsequently edited the mainspace version. This is really not the way to do things. JC has been blocked for their actions across numerous articles and was a quacking sockpuppet. I have reverted the article to its state prior to the unattributed copy/paste of JC. You are well aware of my issues regarding it, including the authority of Pervez Dewan. - Sitush (talk) 23:27, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yes were discussing the draft and I did observe it for a week before making any edits (mostly reverts) on it. I thought you intended to edit it in mainspace. Anyways, the sandbox exists (or it was cut/pasted?) and will wait for further comments in the talk. Personally, I was a little surprised too and left a message JCs talk page (or some other talk page, can't remember clearly) -Ambar (talk) 18:24, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pandit[edit]

Hi Ambar, any chance of you getting hold of a copy of some of the surrounding pages of the source referred to in this edit? What the source is claimed to say is interesting and it raises all sorts of potential issues. For example, whether Kashmiri Pandit should be merged into Saraswat Brahmin, or vice versa. Thanks, - Sitush (talk) 12:40, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sitush, have been inactive for a while except perhaps updating a few music related articles Abhay Sopori. I think your comments above raise an interesting thought & would require the involvement of someone who knows more about Saraswat Brahmins as a whole. My take on this would be that the two articles 'Saraswat Brahmins' & 'Kashmiri Pandits' can not be merged. However, Kashmiri Pandits, being a subset of Saraswat Brahmins, should be mentioned somewhere within SBrahms article (I believe there currently is a link already). What I was really surprised to see was the poor condition of the SBrahms article on wiki. It lists (as of today) only a fraction of all the communities in India which are a part of the larger SBrahm community. Also the lack of adequate content in the article is rather shocking, considering that the community is mostly well to do and educated & rather 'particular' about their SBrahmic roots. The other thing that I found missing in the article is the reason why the community is still identifiable (customs, rituals, beliefs, unique practices) are not really explained properly. We would require a collaborated effort to really improve the Saraswat Brahmin article. -Ambar (talk) 19:33, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ambar wiki. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Chaman Lal Gadoo".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chaman Lal Gadoo}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for uploading File:Naveeda Mehdi 2.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Replaceable fair use File:Naveeda Mehdi 2.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Naveeda Mehdi 2.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Majora (talk) 04:05, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:07, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

March 2020[edit]

Your addition to Kashmiri Pandit has been removed or altered, as it appears to closely paraphrase a copyrighted source. Limited close paraphrasing or quotation is appropriate within reason, so long as the material is clearly attributed in the text. However, longer paraphrases which are not attributed to their source may constitute copyright violation or plagiarism, and are not acceptable on Wikipedia. Such content cannot be hosted here for legal reasons; please do not upload it. You may use external websites or printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If you own the copyright to the text, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the copyright but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. See Talk:Kashmiri Pandit#Copyright problem removed. The edits are several years old now, but I thought I should let you know. I only checked the edits from those three days, and it seems likely there are still other problems. --IamNotU (talk) 03:20, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on All India Kashmiri Samaj requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, society, or group that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
