3RR on Germany

Hi Alixus! You've just violated WP:3RR on Germany. I also strongly belive you are wrong on the content issue - you cannot have a reasonable history of Germany (or Europe) without explicitly mentioning the Holocaust and the fact that it was a systematic, organized killing of certain minorities. The current section may not be perfect, but it is a lot better than your crippled version. --Stephan Schulz 19:49, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

But Stephan, the Holocaust is explicitly mentioned. However, the Germany article is not the Holocaust article. There is no need for repeating every detail from that article in the Germany article. The Gidonb version is completely inappropriate. No other period is dealt with at such a detailed level. There are no mentioning of numerous British genocides or crimes at all in the United Kingdom article, and the Poland or Czech Republic articles do not mention the concentration camps for Germans (well over 1,200 in Poland) or address the ethnic cleansing of Germans in an appropriate way. Flooding the Germany page with alleged wrongdoings is thus treating Germany different than all other countries, and that is racism. The user who insists on adding material to a section which is alredy way too long is a Jew who is primarily engaged in Zionist POV pushing, as one can see from his contributions. Please do not help the ugly agenda of this person. As it is clear from the discussion page, other users have already tried to explain to Gidonb that his version is not acceptable.

The Third Reich section should not be larger than 10 % of the total history section (currently it comprises 15), and it needs to be made shorter, not longer. Alixus 20:45, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Your version talks about "subjugation" and has a link to the term Holocaust. Given the importance of this event for German history, there needs to be more. It is (so far) a unique event in history that a civilized nation, a respected leader in science, philosophy and industry, systematically erradicates a significant part of its own population (and of the population of conquered territorries). Whether other paged have certain deficits should be irrelevant for this one. I also don't know what relevance User:Gidonb's ethnicity should have, or how an alleged attack on Germany can be "racism", given that Germans may be a people, but certainly not an identifiable race in any biologically meaningful sense. --Stephan Schulz 21:02, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

First: It is not "my version", but the version that was there before Gidonb started flooding the section. If you would try to find a better wording, that's fine, buch such a lengthy and detailed paragraph as the one introduced by Gidonb is inappropriate and unbalanced because no other aspect is dealt with at such a detailed level. Compare with the description of WWII, which do not make you very wiser. If you want to learn about the WWII, you should go to the WWII page. If you are interested in persecution of Jews, you find the detailed version at the Holocaust article. The Germany article is not the article on persecution of Jews (which is, by the way, a complex event, that many other European countries participated in).

Also, it not "a unique event in history". As a writer once put it: Hitler did to white people what Europeans have done to non-European people for centuries. I fail to see any reference to the Belgian genocide in Congo (10 million black people murdered by this civilized western nation). The Belgium article states: "The Berlin Conference of 1885 agreed to hand over Congo to King Leopold II as his private possession, called the Congo Free State. In 1908, it was ceded to Belgium as a colony, henceforth called the Belgian Congo.". That' all. And the same applies to every other country articles in Wikipedia. The same standards must apply to all articles, and unless the articles on the United Kingdom, Belgium, the United States, Israel etc. equally detailed are dealing with genocides and crimes of the countries, I am going to restore the proportionate version again. Understand that the purpose of the section is only to outline the development of Germany as a state.

Germanophobia can have many manifestations. Attacking Germany is one of them. If a user instisted that 50 % of the Germany article should deal with alleged wrongdoings, wouldn't it also be the clear result of Germanophobia? Alixus 09:57, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Do you deny the "alleged" events, or do you deny that they represent "wrongdoings"? Or, assuming good faith, did you just chose your words unwisely? Anyways, I've put in a compromise version, and Gidonb has further improved it.--Stephan Schulz 23:06, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.
