Paul Henteleff draft

Trying to improve this draft. Can you point to any specific sentences that read too much like an essay? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.160.91.24 (talk) 16:27, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Thankyou for your contributions, however the draft doesn't seem to be written in an encyclopedic tone eg He is the son of nurse Lillian Axelrode and businessman Harry Henteleff and cousin of lawyer and human rights advocate Yude Henteleff. It seems more like a story. You can check layout of other similar articles and format it accordingly. I also want to suggest, Kindly create an account if you don't have one. signed, 511KeV (talk) 16:52, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Astana-Baba

What information appeared to you, as unverified and in need of citations? TrangaBellam (talk) 18:04, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

@TrangaBellam Thankyou for checking, The article depends upon a single source thats is the reason to tag it with {{refimprove}}. I see you have removed this tag without improving the article and the edit summary seems to be odd. Can you clarify why you have removed it and what does Busy Body mean. signed, 511KeV (talk) 03:55, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
If I see you edit-warring with me, I will request that your permissions be revoked.

This template should be used only for articles where there are some, but insufficient, inline citations to support the material currently in the article. Don't use this tag for articles that contain no unreferenced material, even if all the material is supported by a single citation.
— Template:More_citations_needed#When_to_use

See Template:One source.
Busybody is defined by OED as an An officious or meddlesome person; one who is improperly busy in other people's affairs. TrangaBellam (talk) 10:48, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
@TrangaBellam Ah! I see, I tagged it with wrong template, I must have used {{One source}}. Keeping in view the similarity between the two templates, I have used the template. The addition of template was meant to get attention of other editors to add more references as A single source is usually less than ideal, because a single source may be inaccurate or biased. Without other sources for corroboration, accuracy or neutrality may be suspected. If you would have used the edit summary to let me know about this issue, rather than adding other words It would have been helpful. Besides, I am not involved in an edit war. Regarding the rights, I will happily leave if other editors think, I am involved in any disruption. You can request for removal of my rights. Thankyou. signed, 511KeV (talk) 11:10, 4 November 2021 (UTC)
@TrangaBellam, I will try to user proper tags in future. Hope you also will use proper edit summary to let other users know why you have reverted any edit as edit summary is to provide a reason not to comment about users. Our main motive is to improve the encyclopedia. Everyone makes mistakes, we should treat everyone with respect. I want to also comment per Busybody, Wikipedia article is not someone's property. Thankyou and have a nice day. signed, 511KeV (talk) 12:55, 4 November 2021 (UTC)

COI added on Aadil Manzoor Peer

Syedaadi (talk) 16:43, 5 November 2021 (UTC) hey iflaq the coi you added my be genuine but believe me this is the coincidence that the Article have the nick name as mine but i am not the same persone or have any relation with the subject, even i have cited the news paper in the Subject's article you can check them and can veryfy is this the person genuine or not. still i will request you to remove the coi from the Article. Syedaadi (talk) 16:43, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

@Syedaadi Thanks for checking back. The template is used to give an idea to other editors that it may be edited by someone close to the subject and it doesn't affect the notability in any manner. If the subject is notable, they can have an article. Besides, I have not made a call that you can are close to the subject. The template states A major contributor, you are 3rd on the list of authorship of this article. I would suggest you to get a Kangri and keep warm. (Just chill) . Thankyou and Happy Editing. signed, 511KeV (talk) 17:21, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

Just to let you know, the article above that you moved to draftspace two days ago has been moved straight back into mainspace by the article creator, still without any sources. Richard3120 (talk) 14:25, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

@Richard3120 Thankyou for letting me know. Since, I couldn't move it to draft again per Wikipedia:Repeated draftification, I have opened a deletion discussion. I really appreciate your work. Thanks have a good day! signed, 511KeV (talk) 14:46, 13 November 2021 (UTC)

Hello, 511KeV,

I saw a message you left for the page creator of this article stating that you tagged it for deletion. But the Page Curation tool you used just said to look at the article to see why it was tagged for deletion...if the editor doesn't return until after the article has been deleted, they have no idea what was the problem. Is this a typical message with this tool? I think Twinkle leaves more informative notices. This isn't a question about your tagging, just with the message that the tool left the editor. Liz Read! Talk! 06:49, 19 November 2021 (UTC)

@Liz Thankyou for letting me know. From now onwards, I will prefer to use Twinkle. I guess the reason is not specified as I have tagged it under two criteria. Thankyou once again and Happy Editing. signed, 511KeV (talk) 08:34, 19 November 2021 (UTC)

Apple Software Update CSD tag removed

Hi 511KeV, just wanted to let you know I removed the CSD tag on Apple Software Update as it was only vandalism and the article had salvageable content (as a redirect). If you check the page history you can see what I mean. ––FormalDude talk 04:58, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

@FormalDude Thankyou for the save. Ah my bad i missed it. Thankyou once again. signed, 511KeV (talk) 05:10, 23 November 2021 (UTC)

Reply to your regex question

Sorry that I missed your message for so long. On the off-chance that you haven't figured it out yet, here is my answer. Since "." is the symbol for any character, so you have to "escape" it by using a leading backslash, "\", to indicate that you mean the actual character.

 <Typo word="۔" find="\b\.\b" replace="۔" />

should work.--BillFlis (talk) 13:50, 25 November 2021 (UTC)

Invitation to take part in a survey about medical topics on Wikipedia

Dear fellow editor,

I am Piotr Konieczny, a sociologist of new media at Hanyang University (and User:Piotrus on Wikipedia). I would like to better understand Wikipedia's volunteers who edit medical topics, many associated with the WikiProject Medicine, and known to create some of the highest quality content on Wikipedia. I hope that the lessons I can learn from you that I will present to the academic audience will benefit both the WikiProject Medicine (improving your understanding of yourself and helping to promote it and attract new volunteers) and the wider world of medical volunteering and academia. Open access copy of the resulting research will be made available at WikiProject's Medicine upon the completion of the project.

All questions are optional. The survey is divided into 4 parts: 1 - Brief description of yourself; 2 - Questions about your volunteering; 3 - Questions about WikiProject Medicine and 4 - Questions about Wikipedia's coverage of medical topics.

Please note that by filling out this questionnaire, you consent to participate in this research. The survey is anonymous and all personal details relevant to your experience will be kept private and will not be transferred to any third party.

I appreciate your support of this research and thank you in advance for taking the time to participate and share your experiences! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at my Wikipedia user page or through my email listed on the survey page (or by Wikipedia email this user function).

The survey is accessible through the LINK HERE.

PMRC

Hello. I noticed that you've been using suppressredirect when moving pages from userspace to draftspace (1, 2, 3). While it is appreciated that you've been notifying the users, can I ask why you have been suppressing the redirect? They do not appear to fall under the criteria for suppression. Sdrqaz (talk) 14:14, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

@Sdrqaz Hey, Thankyou for keeping an eye on my contributions. I was unaware of it and to be straightforward I thought it will remove the redirect from the sandbox of the user who created it so that they can make another draft in sandbox. Since i made it sure that they get a notification where the draft has been moved via post on their talkpage, I thought of it in a positive way. However, If it is not recommended, I will try to avoid such situations. Thankyou once again. دَستخَط، 511KeV (کَتھ باتھ) 14:25, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
(For clarity, I wasn't keeping an eye on your contributions; I was keeping an eye on the move log for U2 errors.) Thanks. I understand the temptation to suppress redirects when you feel there's no point in keeping one, but extendedmover is one of the most sensitive permissions for good reason. What I tend to do (which is overkill for many people) is that I tend to put the suppression criterion in the move log when I move a page without a redirect. Where you're unsure, I'd recommend leaving a redirect. Thank you, Sdrqaz (talk) 21:17, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
@Sdrqaz I would love to take the recommendation. Thankyou دَستخَط، 511KeV (کَتھ باتھ) 03:42, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

Request on 15:49:07, 30 January 2022 for assistance on AfC submission by Debanutosh

Debanutosh (talk) 15:49, 30 January 2022 (UTC) Draft:ASU DEV The articles and images associated with it is from a compiled website www.artofasudev.org, which has been authored by me. The website and all materials are actual publications for the Artist ASUDEV's Exhibition catalogues and have been compiled in the website. Being the son of ASU DEV, I have the absolute rights of publication of the texts and visuals of my father's paintings which are in my collection, as inherited property. I hope the writeups associated with my father's life and times are entirely free from copyright. Both the compiled website www.artofasudev.org and the Wikipedia page is authored by myself. It is only a matter of convenience to use the articles as it is. Thank youDebanutosh (talk) 15:49, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

@Debanutosh Hello, I have reviewed your draft but unfortunately it didn't pass the review as there were not enough references to verify the information and all the references were primary references, so i have declined the draft with this The website provided in reference is a primary source and can't be used to establish notability. reason. Your second submission was reviewed by someone else and they pointed out to the copyright violation that i might have missed earlier. Since copyright violation is a serious issue articles or drafts that are involved in it attract deletion by speedy criteria and may even led to block of the uses if the abuse is persistent. If I can get it clearly from the above mentioned text, if you own the copyright of the website and want to use it on Wikipedia. Kindly have a look at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. I also want to let you know, Since you are closely related to the subject, you will have to declare Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Hope that answers the question. Happy Editing دَستخَط، 511KeV (کَتھ باتھ) 04:15, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for the response. I understand copyright issues, but the website in reference is owned by me and the text and images too are my own. The website has been since 30 June 2006 and is a culmination about the Artist ASUDEV (1917-1983) and contained materials already published several times in the artists catalogues and other media. There should not be any serious issues in conflict of interest, as the details will be useful for students of Fine Arts as much about the artist is not quiet available other than the Artist's website. It is my interest to make the contains available to the people looking for Artists from Assam India.Debanutosh (talk) 10:49, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

@Debanutosh The content in the draft will be still seen as a copyright violation as the text in your website is not licensed under any of these criteria: Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 Unported License (CC-BY-SA) and the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) (unversioned, with no invariant sections, front-cover texts, or back-cover texts) or that it is in the public domain. Neither have you give proper consent to use the text if you are the copyright owner. Have a look at WP:DONATETEXT, about granting us permission to copy material already online. Hope that helps. Thankyou. دَستخَط، 511KeV (کَتھ باتھ) 11:55, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
Pinging @Jimfbleak: for expert help. دَستخَط، 511KeV (کَتھ باتھ) 11:58, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
@Debanutosh is quite right with regard to the images, for us to verify that anyone can freely use the images, the original source must show one of the Wikipedia-compatible licences that are mentioned.
Much of the text, as you state, has been previously published elsewhere, and is not written by you eg The article was first published in the Sunday issue of The Shillong Times, on 27 April 1952. I doubt that any of the reviews were originally published as explicitly public domain or otherwise free to use for any purpose, so they can't be copied here.
In any case, your father's notability doesn't rest on reviews or what people think of his work, it relies on real facts, such as exhibitions in major galleries, awards and mention in books or serious journals.
Even if we take out the clearly copyright cherry-picked reviews, what's left is heavy on promoting his work and low on facts. Take the lead paragraph, which is supposed to summarise the article ASUDEV was born on 13 December 1917 at Dhubri in Lower Assam, INDIA. A self taught artist with little or no patronage from any source, he began his journey in artistic pursuit during the 1930’s and continued with the same zeal and enthusiasm till the last day of his life. ASUDEV created about 180 paintings and sculptures. He expired on 06 February 1983 at Guwahati Assam INDIA. —We are told that he was born, did some paintings and died. None of these facts meets WP:Notability (people)#creative professionals, and the bit I've bolded is a promotional-sounding opinion that you cannot verify.
I don't understand why ASUDEV and INDIA are fully bolded, Indian English, like BE , just capitalises the first letter. It just looks promotional, although I wouldn't have thought India needed your help to be notable.
You need to licence the images properly at their source, and write text in your own words giving real facts, not reviews or opinions. Your draft was totally non-compliant Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:07, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

WP:AFC Helper News

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future.
