User:Pasicles

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello. My current identity on Wikipedia is Pasicles – I named myself after the most obscure philosopher of ancient Greece I could think of (Pasicles of Thebes). My first identity on Wikipedia was User:Singinglemon. I used to create and maintain pages on ancient Greek philosophy. Perhaps my best efforts were the pages on Empedocles, The Cynics, and Chrysippus. I eventually abandoned my ancient philosophy work since it was a rather lonely experience (there aren't many people working on the topic!). The single most important thing I learned is that a good source is one that makes a statement and then provides the reasons for that statement. Some people seem to think that an assertion made without explanation in a book (or worse still a webpage) counts as a reliable source, when often it's a very unreliable source. Anyway, these days I just write stuff on various United Kingdom topics.
