Plot summary

Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn take a trip to St. Louis to see a hot-air balloon mentioned in the newspapers. They encounter their friend, Becky Thatcher and learn that Mark Twain, the noted author, is going to use the balloon to visit Halley's Comet, as he believes that his fate is connected to the comet's reappearance. Tom and Huck sneak aboard the balloon, but just as Becky discovers them, the balloon lifts off with them aboard. Twain find the three on the balloon's hurricane deck, who greets each of the children by name and reveals his plan to travel to Egypt, where the comet's path will come closest to Earth.
