Royal Mencleston F.C. is a football club based on the capital of Edderaland, Mencleston. Founded in 1887 by three royalties of the Palace of Mencleston, where the emperor of Edderaland live. Formally known as Palace F.C., the first Chairman was Dicken Harry Garrebeth.

History[edit]

In 1887, after the formation of Royal Workers F.C. (now merged with Intervilla SAU to form Royal Intervilla) by a team of imperial slaves within the Palace of Xijing, the royalties, being envious, decided to establish a football team known as Palace F.C. The decision was supported by the emperor and on 1 July 1887, Palace F.C. was formed.

The emperor, to show his support, decided to build the team and Royal Workers a playing field within the palace. The playing field that was soon build, have only a capacity of 3,400 and was named Huangjia Zuqiu Stadium (lit. Royal Football Stadium)

However, soon slaves players for Royal Workers and part of Palace F.C. was excavated to Intervilla due to Xijing Civics War. Soon they merged with local team, Intervilla Sports and Athletics Union to form Royal Intervilla on 6 May1891. Since then, the rivalry between Palace and Royal Intervilla sparkled.

Beginning[edit]

The team starts its first match against DSK Hillberg, where they won 2-1. The first captain Xu An (徐安), together with manager Cai Wei (蔡魏), led the team to join the then First Divisi Lega in 1891. The team lost thier first match in the league against Sheffhans United with the score 0-4 on 23 July 1891. The team landed on the position 4th from the back, out of the 12 teams at the end of the 1891/92 season. Li Jingwei took over as manager after the 1894 season. By the 1896/97 season, they finally won their first top flight title. After the title, the team continue to win the titles for 5 consecutive years until 1902/03 season, where they were placed 6th and watched rival Astrono (now Athletico Mencleston) winning the title.

Post World War 1[edit]

After the World War 1, the team loses 8 main players, including captain Arason Mingha and forward Jin Ku, who were killed or injured during the battle of Mencleston. This, in fact, left the team in trouble. They failed to defend their title, which they won a season before the war starts (1913/14). They fell back to 15 position out of 20 teams contested. During the 1920/21 season, former Jewel Wanderers' manager Kenny Cohen took over as the team new manager. He reconstructed the team and signed many foreign players before the end of the season. In 1921, the Football Association of Zhongyin Union created the FAZ Premier Cup, now known as SA League Cup. FAZ Premier Cup (now the ESA Champions Cup) was the only cup, other than the league titles, that all the teams in the top flight would want to achieve. Only winning the FAZ Premier Cup, where the team would be known as Champion team.

On May 121921, Palace F.C. contested the FAZ Premier Cup and won their first round match against Havenia FC 3-1. They fought till the final but eventually lost to Sheffhans FC (now Sheffhans United). Following the lost, Kenny Cohen brought in several academy players including Patricko der Haart, Steven Flumaard and Jim Di Maria, who eventually succeeded Cohen as head coach of Palace F.C. The team eventually progress and won the 1924/25 season, 1925/26 season, 1926/27 season, 1929/30 season, 1931/32 season and 1933/34 season. On July 1,1925, after a formal discussion between Cohen and the board members and the changed the team name to Royal Mencleston F.C. The Royalties won the 1922 FAZ Premier Cup final against Sheffhans FC. They also won the Premier Cup on 4 other occasion under Cohen: 1924, 1927, 1928 and 1932. After Cohen's resignation in 1934, the Royalties continued to win the 1935/36 season, 1936/37 season and 1938/39 season before World War 2 and won the Premier Cup of 1935, 1936, 1938 and 1940. They moved to the newly built Edderalish National Stadium (or known as Mencleston Fedreshire Stadium) in 1931.

Post World War 2[edit]

After the war, again, left the Royalties in trouble. Care taker Cai Ziyang had to reorganise the team and ,at the same time, searching for a new manager. Lee Dongxi took up coaching role in 1947. However, the team did not manage to return to their former glory. After 1948/49, they were relegated to Division 1 from the Supa Division and again relegated to Division 2 after 1949/50 season. It was until the 1951/52 season when Lee Dongxi was sacked and Richard Shelton came to Fedreshire.

Shelton's Era[edit]

Richard Shelton was the former manager of Internazional Jeyierston. After he took over, he released many players who were under performing, including former first teams Frank Balaraja, Atarbba Al-Gore, John Hanssack, Wang Yi, Ledley Gorje and Henry Tami. He brought in players such as George Graves, Ronald Jacobs, Bobby Arden, Landon Ramsey, Bille Barton and Gilbert Reeves. Graves, Jocobs, Arden and Reeves eventually became few of Royal Mencleston's all time legends.
