Normally, that's fine, so long as the person whose name you are linking deserves a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia has guidelines for determining whether or not someone should have an article, but in general, linking people like Grace Dyer Taylor (Taylor's first surviving daughter) is a waste, because she isn't notable except for the fact that she was related to Hudson Taylor. Even Taylor's wife doesn't deserve a link, unless she herself did something spectacular. Hope these comments help. Ah the joys of popular culture. For some reason that I only partially understand, human beings spend an inordinate amount of time focusing on the here and now. So it seems that everyone is creating websites and writing wikipedia articles for Simpsons characters and Pokemon characters and other largely useless things. Meanwhile, not as many people are writing books about the lesser known but definitely more important people that had an impact on history, and fewer still are writing Wikipedia articles based on those books. It's called systemic bias, and it's something that Wikipedia is never going to fully eliminate. We're always going to be biased toward current events, American/English/Australian/Indian topics, and technology/science. However, to be fair, most of our readers have similarly short attention spans (What! There was life before I was born?) and thus having gigabytes of information on minor plot characters might actually be helpful, or at least interesting, to some people.
Sorry for the diatribe—I came to answer a simple question and got sidetracked. Anyway, I don't have immediate access to a biography of Hudson Taylor; to source the article I just used the claims made on the website I added early in the article's development. I imagine that it is verifiable (number of churches he worked with, number of people per church around that time, etc.), so we ought to be able to find a more reliable source to back it up. --Spangineerws(háblame) 02:47, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

I got the Brainerd reference (page 109 in my version), but I couldn't find Muller. Also, there's mention on page 109 about Taylor's other books. You still haven't provided any context to the Manga. It's impossible to tell if it's a tribute or a criticism, and the title certianly implies criticism. Perhaps you might want to summarize it in the description and have it be part of the other books about him.

I've had the oppertunity to read of his Canadian exploits in recent weeks; while his uncle (who followed John Witherspoon at St George's Church, Paisley) remained in Canada (see Knox Presbyterian Church (Toronto) ), was responsible for a few Burns' Presbyterian Church (or in a few cases since 1925, Burns United Church) here in Canada. There are others named after WC, and likely a few folks who figured they were named after...C. Montgomery Burns (as illustrated)--hopefully, we won't have to rv any of that picture from the article!

An honest mistake, but this bot capitalized "catholic" in the Hudson Taylor article. The quote was referring to him being a universal Christian as opposed to a "Catholic" in the Roman Catholic sense. WP:WikiProject Reformed Christianity as a group does not prefer any particular tradition or denomination of Reformed Christianity, but prefers that all Reformed traditions are fairly and accurately represented.

Thanks for expanding the template to include other things. Not being a Baptist meant that I was loathe to remove things like Anglicanism. I'd probably remove the Sola Scriptura one since many Baptists (especially non-SBC Baptists) don't adhere to it. (I adhere to it, but that's another matter!)
When searching for an image to use, I was trying to find something contemporary that identified what Baptists did. The image of a man and another man in the water together in the pose that I found is a quite identifiable image of baptists. In my opinion, the problem with the image of Jesus and John you've put in is that it doesn't adequately represent what a Baptist is. Yes its essentially the same "type" of image but it doesn't communicate exactly what Baptists can be seen to do. The image could quite easily be used by another Christian denomination - even Catholics.
This is not to say that the image I put in was brilliant - far from it. But I'd like to somehow modify the image into an svg file that is brighter and simpler and more of an "image" or symbol than a photo.
I thought about using this image at Wikicommons but the mitred bishop would have confused people. I also thought of using This image which is actually brilliant but it was deleted from Wiki because of copyright issues.
I'll try to modify the photo and turn it into an svg image. Until then, we might as well keep the image you put in.
You are doing a great job to get the history of Protestant Christian missionary work more widely known. I do not know if you are aware about a new project, which is called BUILDING A MISSIOPEDIA?
Is it possible to do for mission reference works what Wiki¬pedia did for human knowledge? Missiopedia is a brand new project, launched in 2007 by Justin Long, a former associate editor of the World Christian Encyclopaedia, manager of www.strategicnetwork.org and editor of Momentum, an Internet-based magazine focused on missions to unreached peoples. Missiopedia is hosted by Momentum Magazine and The Network for Strategic Missions. Justin Long writes in his introduction, “Anyone -- that's you! -- can contribute anything in the Missiopedia. You are welcome to boldly edit articles yourself, contributing knowledge as you see fit in a collaborative way -- so, go ahead. The big project I am working on in the Missiopedia right now is to flesh out the Mission Agency directory as well as the Denominations Directory. These are two valuable areas that you probably wouldn't find anywhere else. I would like to see a historical section for each mission agency and each denomination (particularly the denominations within each country... for example Baptists in Andorra. Sounds like an interesting project, but no thanks. Wikipedia is already a neutral format. Why should someone invest time to contribute to a lesser-known encyclopedia that requires the same neutrality? It might be interesting to contibute to one that was presenting a Biblical perspective for a change, but if the requirement is still neutrality on "Missiopedia", then why duplicate the effort for less exposure? Plus, the level of cultural and historical context that Wikipedia provides sets the history of Christian missions in a place so that it can be evaluated by the broader culture by Christians and non-Christians alike. Thanks for writing. Your project is very interesting to me. However, it will be difficult to establish the neutrality that you require. To call Finney a "successful evangelist" may be correct terminology, but theologically there could be dispute. Would be interested to see how the "slightly biased point of view" deals with "Jesuits" and "Franciscans" and "Seventh Day Adventists". Things might get testy. "Religious persecution" and the Salem witch-hunt[edit]
Looking at your adding of articles relating to the Salem episode to the "Religious persecution" category, I think that the category is not really fitting. The people were not persecuted for their actual religious beliefs, but for things they were falsely accused of doing. Including the articles in the category implies that these were really witches, who were persecuted for diabolism. The three-month long Summer Assessment Drive, organized by Psychless, was a huge success! It ran from June 1 – September 1, and reduced the backlog of unassessed articles from 113,385 to 56,237. In all, over 100,000 articles were assessed. Over 60 people contributed in some way.
A barnstar has been created for exceptional work on Wikipedia biographies and for assisting the project. The Biography Barnstar is listed with the other WikiProject awards and can be awarded easily with a template. See the template page for more details.
The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project.
