Tenerife Sea[edit]
... that "Tenerife Sea", a song by Ed Sheeran, was first thought to be about Taylor Swift?

This article was 5x expanded on date of nomination and the article is over 1500 characters. The hook is under 200 characters and interesting, if true. There is a trademarked logo in the article, but I think the placement of the image in the article is justified by fair use (disclaimer: this is not a legal opinion of whether the use is lawful -- it is merely my personal interpretation of Wikipedia policies and guidelines). However, there are a few issues with this nomination that I hope can be addressed.
- One easily fixable issue is that the nominator still needs to complete QPQ. My biggest concern with this nomination is that I'm not sure this hook is supported by a reliable source. The assertion in the hook (that the song may be about Taylor Swift) is supported by an inline citation to an MTV listicle titled "54 Taylor Swift Duets That’ll Make You Wonder Who She Hasn’t Performed With." The listicle says,
"Ed reunited with Taylor once again when they sang his song “Tenerife Sea” (which some thought was about Taylor at one point in history) at Rock in Rio in Las Vegas in 2015."
I certainly don't think every reliable source has to identify its sources, but WP:QS explains that sources relying upon"unsubstantiated gossip, rumor or personal opinion"
are generally not reliable. It sounds to me like this source is relying on rumors or unsubstantiated gossip. Although the hook simply seems to be saying that rumors existed at one time that the song was about Taylor Swift, we still have the same problems with WP:RS and WP:V because the existence of these rumors is, itself, based on unsubstantiated gossip. I realize this is all rather circular, but I think we need more definitive proof that someone actually argued/claimed at one point in time that this song was about Taylor Swift. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 23:38, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

- I'm afraid I can't agree with Notecardforfree about the use of the Spotify logo in this article; fair use for logos generally only covers them appearing in articles about the company or product whose logo it is, as necessary to identify that company or product. I would think that the logo would need to be removed before this article could run on the front page.
- However, the callout created by the logo and its caption in the article suggested a new (and better sourced) direction for the hook:
- ALT1 ... that the song "Tenerife Sea" was ranked #14 in Spotify's list of the most-streamed tracks in the category sleep?
- ALT2
... that "Tenerife Sea" is one of the most popular songs in both the sleep and dance categories?

- GrammarFascist, you may very well be correct that the use of the Spotify logo is inappropriate in this article. To be honest, I know very little about trademark law; my background involves other areas of the law. I assumed that because the use was not for a commercial purpose and there would be little "likelihood of confusion," the use of the logo would be okay. Nevertheless, I am going to go ahead and remove the image until we can establish that the use is, in fact, justified. I am also going to remove the sentence that suggests the song is about Taylor Swift, because the source that supports the assertion relies upon unsubstantiated gossip. As for the new hooks, I like ALT1 a lot. I had no idea that "sleep" was a musical genre! Is it the kind of music that puts the listener to sleep? Scratch the above comment. According to this, Efe only has two DYK credits. ALT1 is good to go. Per my review above, the article was 5x expanded within one week of nomination, the article is long enough, the hook is under 200 characters, interesting, and supported by an inline citation. The article complies with relevant policy considerations (neutrality, plagiarism, etc-). The Spotify image has been removed from the article, and the only remaining image is within policy. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 22:40, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
