Merger proposal[edit]

I'm almost certain this is the same as Yosemite Lakes, and Yosemite Lakes Park seems to be the accepted name according to these websites.[1][2] Benny White (talk) 06:51, 1 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Geographic Names Information System has separate entries for the two names, but that's hardly conclusive. Google Maps shows two green areas labelled "Yosemite Lakes Park Recreation Area", but they appear to be roadless, protected areas, not settlements. Since there seems to be a shortage of reliable sources for Yosemite Lakes Park, my preference would be for a single article about the CDP, titled "Yosemite Lakes, California", in other words, the reverse of the proposed merge.—Stepheng3 (talk) 19:57, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
They are definitely the same place based on the GPS coordinates provided by the census and my having been there (for a long time but not recently). I am surprised that it has become a CDP separate from Coarsegold since last I checked, all mail in that area was addressed to Coarsegold, CA 93614, but perhaps that has changed in the last decade? Colloquially, it has always been called Yosemite Lakes Park or YLP. What is the deferred naming conventions for towns? 192.81.119.137 (talk) 21:40, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Whether it's a CDP is unrelated to where the post office is. Two different things. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.49.176.208 (talk) 03:08, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct, they are two different things. However, the CDP Yosemite Lakes, California is commonly known as Yosemite Lake Park, the unincorporated community listed on this page. These places are 100% the same location, just designated differently by the different agencies. (And per Benny White, YLP is the most common name from when I grew up there). Agreed and merging to the name in common use;  Done. Klbrain (talk) 10:59, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
