Split?

Sorry, but why are the platforming and WarioWare games merged into one article? Besides the title character, they have very little in common, the gameplay is completely different. Multiple Mario spin-off series (Kart, Party, Golf, Tennis, Dr. Mario) also have their own articles, so why not the WarioWare series? --Grandy02 (talk) 21:08, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Because Mario Kart and Party are too big to fit into the Mario (series) article. Golf and Tennis could probably be merged into a Mario sports games article. There's no reason to split because the article isn't very big yet, and probably won't be too big to fit both. If it does get too big, the first thing that will be split will be WarioWare. - A Link to the Past (talk) 21:15, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
WarioWare does seem important enough to me to merit its own article, as quite a bit has been written about it in reliable sources (though the article admittedly doesn't cite many, yet). If anything, the game is more notable than the character from the standpoint of game studies researchers. One good academic source would be: Chaim Gingold (2005). "What WarioWare can teach us about Game Design". Game Studies. 5 (1). There's some other stuff as well. --Delirium (talk) 10:09, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

WarioWare Section Needs Cleanup

The WarioWare section could be greatly improved. It lacks descriptions, uses fan-terms and speculation, and has no references. Specifically... Microgames section:

  • "('microgames' or 'minigames')"
    • "Minigames" are a completely separate thing from "microgames." WarioWare games do already include minigames. Mewtroid, Pyoro, Juggle Boy, and Foiled! are examples.
  • "Boss stages are considerably longer and more complex than other stages."
    • Stages are completely different things from microgames and boss microgames. Stages are where you play microgames that lead up to a boss microgame. The article should be consistent about this.
  • "Microgames come in three main types, classified by the condition required to clear them:"
    • The page proceeds to describe "'Accomplish' Microgames" and "'Survival' Microgames." These terms are completely unofficial, and the WarioWare games do not distinguish these types of microgames in any way. There are microgames and boss microgames, but nothing else.
  • "IQ-genre microgames, which last twice as long to fit their brain-stretching contents."
    • Any microgame can be double-length, not just IQ ones. IQ is a genre of microgame, not a specific kind.
  • "Multiplayer microgames, found in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$! and WarioWare: Smooth Moves, are not beat-based, and are used to determine who goes first in a multiplayer game, or to settle a tie. The 'Wobbly Bobbly' multiplayer game features multiplayer microgames most commonly, as one is played at the start of each round."
    • These are gameplay modes, not microgames.
  • "Certain microgames require a complete lack of input to complete."
    • There are only about two of these across the series. They are not noteworthy enough to be classified as a "deviation."
  • "Though Nintendo and game retailers suggest that the microgames last five seconds, at the slowest speed of 140 BPM, only the IQ microgames could possibly reach this length."
    • When did Nintendo ever claim that? A reference is needed here. This sentence is another case of calling double-length microgames IQ microgames.
  • "Each microgame is also featured in three difficulty levels: Blue, Yellow and Red. Blue presents the given task in an easier way, while Red presents it in a much harder way. Not all modes of all WarioWare games actually show a color to denote the current level, but most modes start with Blue games, progressing to Yellow upon a "Level Up" (usually achieved after passing a boss microgame), then to Red in similar fashion. Once Red is reached, sequential "Level Up"s will typically be replaced by "Speed Up"s (an increase in BPM)."
    • Uh, when did they ever classify them by colors? There are three difficulty levels for each microgame, but I don't think I've ever heard them described like this before.
  • "For instance, Mona's games in Twisted! were focused around small spins, while in Touched! her games involved small lines drawn with the stylus."
    • Actually, in Touched, they were described as "cutting."

Characters section:

  • "5-Volt lives along with her son and presumably his pet Fronk in a house in Diamond City."
    • Remove the "presumably," as WarioWare Gold seems to confirm this. We do see Fronk in 5-Volt's house.
  • "[5-Volt] watches [5-Volt and 18-Volt] eating."
    • Eating what?
  • "18-Volt is 9-Volt's best friend, (even though his name makes him sound like he is his father or brother) and also a fan of video games."
    • The statement in parenthesis is solely based on opinion.
  • "[18-Volt] is large, but despite his size, he goes to Diamond Elementary School, as does 9-Volt (perhaps that's because he isn't smart)."
    • The reason why he's in elementary school was never described. Let's just leave it at that instead of suggesting ideas why.
  • "Ashley is voiced by Erica Lindbeck in Gold, while Red was voiced by Tyler Shamy."
    • This sentence abruptly switches tense. "Is" is preferred, as that is Red's current voice actor.
  • "...and [Dribble and Spitz's] cab, which was designed by Dr. Crygor..."
    • Source?
  • "[Dr. Crygor] is 103 years old..."
    • While WarioWare Gold's character card for him does say that he's over 100 years old, it never states his exact age. This statement should be referenced, too.
  • "In addition to several varieties of yellow Pixies..."
    • Pixies?
  • "[Jimmy T.] is a disco dancing fanatic to the point that he will sometimes dance involuntarily, claiming that 'the rhythm makes him do it'."
    • This was only mentioned once in Mega Party Game$!, and it's part of his backstory. I don't think it's worth mentioning.
  • "Orbulon is an intelligent alien that has difficulty with the English language."
    • When was this mentioned? He speaks fine in WarioWare Gold.
  • "[Orbulon] is 2003 years old (2018 years in Gold. A reference to the years releasing the Warioware games.)."
    • This should be replaced with something like "The instruction manual for WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! and WarioWare Gold both imply that Orbulon was born in the year 0."
  • "[Penny] is seen in the game to have a part-time job as a cake baker/decorator."
    • The use of the phrase "the game" makes it sound like either Penny was only in one game, or that there is only one WarioWare game. Both statements are false. Specify which game (I think it's Smooth Moves.).
  • "[Young Cricket] practices martial arts and trains with his master, Master Mantis, and the two of them travel all over looking for new forms."
    • Forms of what?
  • "When Vanessa sics The Dinosaurs in their hawk-like plane on Mona when she travels to the Hawt House, they steal Art from Mona's van."
    • Who's Art and who are The Dinosaurs? What's the Hawt House? Unless you've played the game, you won't know.
  • "However, it's likely that Dr Crygor never actually made [Doris 1], and her facial recognition was damaged after being abandoned. So it's possible Dr Crygor was framed for abandoning her."
    • This entire paragraph is missing the period in front of "Dr." and the last two sentences are speculation. This also contradicts Dr. Crygor's summary earlier in the page.
  • "13-Amp is a female teenager who appears in WarioWare Gold who stole a kid's video games then faces 18-Volt into a rap battle with a bet of him giving his games to her if he loses the battle or she gives the kid's games back if she loses. Once defeated, she realized that she had lost to a fourth grader, in which 18-Volt stated to her."
    • This paragraph should be rewritten.
  • "After being defeated by Ashley, [Dark Lord Hum Gree] changes into a different person who hugs people."
    • Red's exact words were, "Yeah! Just look at Hum Gree now!" The only thing he's craving now is a big ol' hug."
  • "Supposedly, Ashley used the wrong spell on [Hum Gree], but didn't really care."
    • Speculation.
  • "'Jimmy's folks' include Papa T., Mama T., Jamie T., James T. and Jimmy P."
    • This is redundant, as they're all mentioned earlier in the page under Jimmy T.'s section.
  • "'Fronk's folks' include Blue Fronk, a Fronk with Glasses and a Surgical mask; Red Fronk, a Fronk with Glasses; Fronk's Mother, a Fronk from the microgame "Hop to the Top" in WarioWare: Twisted!; and Fronk's Monkey, a monkey from the microgame "Hop to the Top" in WarioWare: Twisted!"
    • This could probably be merged into Fronk's section.

Other:

  • "The Space Hares..."
    • This should be changed, as WarioWare Gold calls them "Alien Bunnies."

Overall, a lot of this section needs a rewrite. Scrooge200 (talk) 04:41, 24 September 2018 (UTC)

Wario (series)Wario (franchise)

Proposed by: ArtistScientist (talk · contribs)

This article is about the Wario franchise, not one series. There are two different Wario series: Wario Land and WarioWare. This article is the same as the articles about the Mario franchise and the Donkey Kong franchise, each of which are made up of game series like Mario Kart and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Nintendo applies for WL trademark

Nintendo recently applied for nine trademarks in Japan, with one of them being Wario Land. Remains to be seen if this is a new title or a some port. Source: JapaneseNintendo.com 195.67.78.50 (talk) 08:53, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

French Wikipedia import

Wario series needs to be imported from French Wikipedia.

Linking Page

I'm trying to link the wikipedia page for "WarioWare: Get It Together". I followed the instructions, but for some reason it says the page doesn't exist when it actually does. What am I doing wrong ? Emister2000 (talk) 13:29, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Using a video game as a source for an opinion

Using the videogame as a source for the statement that the word "KATANA" is said in the game is fine (if WP:UNDUE, but that's another matter). Taking that and extrapolating that Kat and Ana get their names from that is WP:SYNTHESIS, and would definitely require a reliable secondary source talking about this. Andrew Englehart (talk) 14:14, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

Would it hurt to include information about WarioWare: Get It Together in the WarioWare section?

Would it be ok to add details about WarioWare: Get It Together in the WarioWare section? For example: Some of the information may include the various playable characters and how they behave in said game. By the way, is it also ok to mention that Mike cannot sing? 13 Amp

I think after WarioWare: Move It releases, we'll have to promote 13 Amp to the Major Characters section due to her being shown along with the main cast of characters in the intro to the game. 74.132.203.31 (talk) 00:16, 8 October 2023 (UTC)
