the threatened NYC strike[edit]

The article asks for a citation. While I can't fully answer, I suspect this claim refers to the threat of a strike by the NYC Transit Authority ("NYCTA") electricians and their colleagues in the power plants. Back then, the TA owned and operated its own electrical generators and a chunk of the transmission lines to the subway system (plus the internal cables alongside the tracks). So yes, a couple of dozen people could have shut down the subway system. NOTE: While I recall family discussions of this event (big union family, I had...) I wasn't able to find any specific documentation. Hopefully this clue will let someone else have some luck... wiki-ny-2007 (talk) 18:25, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
