The article[edit]

Sorry about the way this article looks right now - I have to go to sleep. Feel free to fix it up before I get around to it. --DLand 08:32, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Know how you feel... "been there, done that" hundreds of times on Wikipedia. I edited it now. It still needs work, but it looks better. IZAK 08:11, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As a reader I am disgusted by the banner here with the "weasel words" in bold. Somebody went to the trouble to write this article and somebody else, who knows nothing about it, puts it down. Jane Peppler (talk) 13:24, 30 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

sources[edit]

Can anyone find a source for an obligation to recite a kiddush at seuda shlishi? I have never seen such a thing and both for my own edification and for the article Ithink we ought to have a source for that. Avraham 06:08, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Rambam (Mishneh Torah, Shabbat 29:9) says that you should be kove'a every meal on bread and wine. Most people (I believe) do not make kiddush or drink wine at all at seudah shlishit, in accordance with the psak of the Shulchan Aruch (following the Rosh) that this is not necessary. Even within the position of the Rambam, most commentators (eg. Beit Yosef) hold that he is not referring to kiddush, but merely that one should drink wine. The only place where it is brought down that one should make kiddush is in the siddur of the Shelah ("Sha'ar HaShamayim"), a kabbalistic source. I guess you have some homework to do now... :) --DLandTALK 22:35, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
