Corrections to Quincy TV Series entries as well as External Sites Info not being allowed[edit]

As per The Quincy Examiner, see article listed as Decoding Quincy proper season classification this entire wikipedia guide is based upon inaccurate information found at TVonDVD.com website. This comes from an even earlier error which is compounded by Universal Home Video having released all of Season 1 (1976-1977) wrongly as Season 1 and Season 2... attempts to correct this have resulted in wikipedia editors (User:HalJor) reversing any attempt to correct the content. Until this individual Wiki editor's actions are overridden, changed, or revised, nothing can be done to properly to restore the correct information. User editor seems overly concerned with a flag of WP:FANSITE wrongly unable to contribute corrected information to wikipedia for correction. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:19D:480:380:792E:F0CF:FF04:7ADF (talk) 20:46, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Square TV?[edit]

This is the first time I've ever heard of such a genre (and I don't agree that Equalizer belongs to it was it's described here). Can someone provide a link or a source to back up this claim? If not, as it stands now it's POV. 23skidoo 19:27, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've never heard it before either. --DanielCD 22:03, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Square TV doesn't exist, it's a figment of the author's imagination. If you Google "Square TV" and "Quincy" you only get 2 relevant results; this page and the one linked to by the author. Anyway, just about every cop/crime show of the 70s sensationalised youth culture at some point.172.169.182.119 16:30, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've deleted it. If someone wants to argue that it belongs here, I invite them to state their case in this thread, and provide links or other sources to prove there's any notability to this. I'm going to check The Equalizer and see if a similar reference exists there and removed it too, for now. 23skidoo 19:34, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

what was quincys middle name[edit]

(Reply to above unsigned question). We never heard his first name mentioned. I don't think a middle name was ever mentioned, either. 23skidoo 17:15, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it Frank? Guv2006 20:00, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In one episode, he hands over a card to a woman that has the name "Dr R Quincy" on it - Sam calls him "Quince", as do his subordinates, but he is just referred to as "Quincy" throughout. He calls nearly everybody by their surnames - his boss, he just calls "Asten", not "Dr Asten", Lt Monahan, he mostly calls just "Monahan" - though the restaurateur Danny, he calls "Danny" and other sundry characters he uses their first name.

Arthurvasey (talk) 19:27, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On one epsiode he puts his card in a hippes cereal box while investigating death of a hospital Intern and the "disappearence" of a corpse from the lab. Supposedly the episodes where he leaves his card his name is "Robert"-however the name can't be seen-is "Robert" a urban legend? Also supposedly when Jack Klugman was asked-he replied "Dr"! Wonder it that's a uurban legend as well!

In the episode "The Two Sides of Truth", Dr. Herbert Stone greets Quincy numerous times using the name "Quincy". While closed captioning may detect this as Richie, it is clearly Quincy when you listen to it. I edited the page since it seems to lead people to the false conclusion that Quincy had a first name mentioned on the show. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8806:9082:55F0:9D5:D5BF:FF98:3244 (talk) 05:28, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Quincy Triva and Goofs[edit]

  • Goof-one epsiode has Quincy and Sam trying to stop a funeral of a millionaire who they realize had been frozen; there is a close up shot of Quincy and Sam in their car; then a long shot of Quincy alone in the car; then a close up shot of Quincy & Sam in car!
  • Cut scenes-in one epsiode when Quincy reconstructs a murder from 1 human bone there are cut scenes in syndicated version-such as when Quincy points out the textbooks his students use are out of date and when he uses his "Coroner's Badge" to trys to get the Police to help him in the investigation; in another Quincy discovers the deceased was in Witness Protection program-the cut scene is where Quincy recognizes face of victium from a reconstruction sketch
  • Recycled material-at least 4 times "Quincy" used old material:
    • One epsiode when Quincy finds a bullet and saves a Rookie Policeman career-came from a epsiode of Dragnet {TV Series}!
    • Two epsiodes had airplane crashes.
    • Two Epsiodes had Nazi war criminals.
    • Two epsiodes had dead persons who had been in witness protection program
    • One epsiode had a stock scene of a man falling from a building {which was also used on the 1968 CBS Hawaii Five-O series!

Quincy was okay as long as he stuck to Forensic pathology...sometimes epsiodes dwelt with social issues for example people with tay sacs syndrome...it went on for 7 years too long..in syndication one of the last epsiodes was a man who has to have his arm amputation becuase of an industrial accident....and Quincy helps him.....in another early epsiode Quincy former pathology teacher is a hired gun who disputes autoposy findings for money....yet Quincy actually helps the man!!!

  • Lastly an early epsiode when a hired thug tries to Quincy in Mexico but ends up accidently killing himself...this is not seen in eyndication!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.49.135.90 (talk) 15:59, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Quincy.JPG[edit]

Image:Quincy.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:39, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quotes[edit]

We need to add the episode or something to the quotes. They don't seem to be worded exactly right and some are odd and don't seem to be notable (or understandable) as they stand. I also removed a trivia item that seemed non-notable. --DanielCD 18:08, 12 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Diane Markoff[edit]

The article mentions Eddie Garrett's appearances. Another recurring minor character was Diane, a waitress at Danny's, played by Diane Markoff. Does anyone have details on how many times she appeared? LenF54 (talk) 18:04, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Spinoffs of CSI ?![edit]

NCIS is a spin-off of JAG. Diagnosis Murder predates CSI by quite a bit, I think. The "spin-off" language needs to be replaced with something more accurate. revbart (talk) 03:35, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Opinion[edit]

I removed the following, as it read like an opinion, and had no sources. "Therefore, there understandably appears to be some confusion as to whether the series truly is based upon seven or eight distinct seasons that the series ran on network television. This mistake also appears on the first DVD season box set release which incorrectly sets up the idea of seasons one and two rather than simply season one, causing many to falsely believe the series ran for a total of eight seasons in all." The Cast Section...[edit]

Wrong Episode Dates[edit]

For the episode "Dark Angel," listed as being broadcast on February 15th, 1979, I think that date is wrong. And that would probably throw off the dates for probably at least the 7 episodes just prior to it. My proof is conclusive. I have a roll of film I shot in February 1979 of several different television shows, with my camera, a Minolta XD11 slr, aimed at the tv screen. I would use multiple exposures to capture nine different screens in one negative, sort of a "Viewmaster" reel to encapsulate the episode. Negative numbers 3 and 4 are of the episode "Dark Angel," with Neville Brand, and I know this because he is depicted on one of the frames. The next two negatives, negative numbers 5 and 6 are of an episode of "The Rockford Files," and the episode is named "2 Into 5.56 Won't Go." This was broadcast on "The CBS Late Movie" on Wednesday, February 7th, 1979. The next 3 negatives, numbers 7, 8 and 9 are of the "Hawaii Five-O" episode "The Bark And The Bite," which was first broadcast on Thursday, February 8th, 1979. The next two negatives, negative numbers 10 and 11, are of an episode of "Barnaby Jones" entitled, "Fatal Overture," first broadcast on Thursday, February 8th, 1979 as well. There are two sunset pictures next, negative numbers 12 and 13. Negative number 14 is another shot of the television screen and is of the show "The New Avengers," with the episode being entitled "Emily." Since this was broadcast in first-run in the United States during "The CBS Late Movie," and this particular episode was first broadcast on Friday, February 9th, 1979, that must mean that the episode of "Quincy," entitled "Dark Angel," on my negatives must have been first broadcast on (at least) Wednesday, February 7th, 1979, instead of the one listed for that date, "Aftermath." Who's in charge of this page and the responsibility for correcting errors? I myself don't want to correct this and risk stepping on anybody's toes because it's happened to me too many times. Erroneous information added to the TV series title box for quincy...[edit]

it would appear that someone is tampering around with the information wikipedia about this series..

Both Glen Larson and Stu Phillips are known to have worked on the Quincy theme. In addition, there is no theme song title such as what is stated there now... can someone please edit these out and lock them down.
