Linear, arc-shaped Painted Desert[edit]

(the region is (mostly)-visible on the shaded relief map)-I was not planning on editing this article today, but the 146 Mi sq, had to go. A quick google of some refs, came to the 7500 mi sq, others are out there, and are more incorrect. I used a pencil and paper and got to about 120 mi wide by 62 mi., which concurs with the distance from Cameron–Tuba City, to past Holbrook and the Petrified Forest National Park. My comment is this, If you are NOT from Arizona, then I can understand letting 146 sq mi get by for some length of time... but please, 146 sq mi is only 10 X 10, (12 X 12), and ANY, QUICK, DEDUCTIVE reasoning, can find one's brain to see that is an error. It is why I had to edit it. (I don't plan on finding out how long the error has been there, but please.... (let us carry on.)
[Aside: there is a Tonopah Desert, west of Phoenix, (and NOT a desert, per se, but everything out there is a desert, (and it is wider than 10 x 10 mi)] ----(From the HOT-SonoranDesert, (southwest)ArizonaUSA), Mmcannis (talk) 16:37, 5 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: Not moved. Consensus is against moving. (non-admin closure) Natg 19 (talk) 07:40, 29 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Painted Desert (Arizona)Painted Desert – This is the primary topic. It was viewed 1866 times in November, compared to 214 for its Australian rival. The 1931 film gets a surprising 877 visits, but those are mostly clumped around Clark Gable's birthday, so atypical. The 1938 remake only gets 58 looks (and many of those are people looking for the Gable version apparently, because most are on his birthday). There are no other articles with this name. • NOTE this is in effect a multimove, since the nominator displaced the disambiguation page from the base location before making this move request. A failure of this request should result in returning the dab page back to the base location -- 70.51.44.60 (talk) 10:10, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, put the dab back at baseline Painted Desert (South Australia) is the main subject for those in Australia, and so on. In ictu oculi (talk) 10:50, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose and return to previous status quo: While the Arizonan desert has the largest number of views, the amount of hits for the other articles, especially the 1931 film, are not trivial. It doesn't matter that time of year the reader attention comes, just the fact that it does. Lankiveil (speak to me) 11:45, 19 November 2015 (UTC).[reply]
  • That makes no sense to me. If you go back to October, the film gets a more reasonable 88 views. A blip is a blip. Clarityfiend (talk) 01:50, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. There is no reason not to leave the dab page at the shorter name, and have all links be precise about which article they intend to link to. It is much easier to find and fix "wrong" links to a dab page than to an article about something else. --Scott Davis Talk 11:50, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose the current disambiguation page provides sufficient guidance without given one subject primacy. Leave current status quo. Dan arndt (talk) 10:56, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. No primary topic. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 13:09, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Is this because of a homework assignment? If so, that's not what wikipedia is here for. Please see Wikipedia:Do your own homework. - Richfife (talk) 22:32, 10 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
