Reorganization of article, taking account of new related articles.[edit]

I've reorganized the articles about lockers (and created two more articles) in order to arrange the information a little more logically, and to expand on some of it.

Referring to the removal of the reference to bicycle lockers from the present article: since a bicycle locker is a particular form of the more general use of "locker" covered by the description "cabinet", I have removed the mention of it from the current article. I have not deleted it, but transferred it to a new article, "Locker (cabinet)", which I think more suitably covers bicycle lockers as one usage of the more general usage of lockers in the storage sense. The new article also covers various other kinds of storage lockers. M.J.E. 22:48, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would semi-protecting this article be justified?[edit]

I'm not sure if this is the place to raise it - but I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to semi-protect this article at least for some time, because of a possible vandal who seems to think that "Locker" also means "penis", and who persistently puts in a comment to this effect.

Does semi-protection need to be justified by more than one persistent vandal?

To the person who does this - if you have a reference that "locker" means "penis" in some context, please include that also, and explain a bit of context for this (to whom, or in what culture or context, does the word mean this?); otherwise your repetitive edits about penises just look like vandalism.

Thanks. M.J.E. (talk) 03:16, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It was just vandalism. Semi protections is not really necessary. I will keep on eye on it though, if it gets worse I will semi protect. Garion96 (talk) 08:39, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, yes, it's obvious it's vandalism; but I raised it because a look at the history for this article shows that this particular vandalism has been remarkably persistent, occurring maybe a dozen times over some months. Who knows what the person in question has in mind! M.J.E. (talk) 19:13, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Semi protection is only used when the article is subject to heavy and persistent vandalism. A dozen times in some months is not considered that heavy. In this case you just revert the vandalism and perhaps block the editor. If it gets really bad I will semi protect it, but so far it is not needed. I've warned him 4 times, three of which were about vandalism, the other being an attack on me. It is this IP. Please take the appropriate action. Cheers. Imperat§ r(Talk) 01:37, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple people have said on here that locker speak is notable enough to be on the locker page. It is popular at high schools. Unfortunately, someone decides that it is "vandalism" to talk on the talk page... This doesn't seem right to me... 98.228.60.27 (talk) 19:57, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps WP:NEO is worthy of pointing out here. Dismas|(talk) 20:25, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replying to previous-but-one comment: If you are referring to the "Locker also means penis" edits that have been done repeatedly, it may (for all I know) be a fact that the word does mean this in high-school slang in some location - I don't know. But if so, the comment needs to be worded in a way that gives some credibility to this, and explains where or in what context this usage is found, and a reference given if it can be found. But to just put "Locker also means penis" at an apparently random point within an article, apropos of nothing, *looks* like vandalism, and will thus likely be reverted. (I still believe it *is* vandalism, but decided to respond to the defence of this on its face value.) M.J.E. (talk) 12:33, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Move discussion in progress[edit]

Storage locker[edit]

storage lockers are also called "lockers" so should be listed here -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 07:26, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
