First shopping mall[edit]

The lead in to this List contradicts other articles or is ambiguous. The Norgate shopping centre in Montreal is not Canada's first shopping mall. Rather the Park Royal Shopping Centre in West Vancouver, BC officially holds that distinction. While Norgate opened one year before Park Royal did, Norgate is a strip mall while Park Royal is a covered roof mall, in the traditional mall sense. Thus, I believe the lead should be changed accordingly. If no one has any objections of the sort, I will ammend it shortly. Luke! 22:27, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1949 is earlier than 1950, and a mall is a mall. Park Royal clearly is not the first mall, it's the first enclosed shopping mall. The article on strip malls calls them shopping centres. The article on shopping centres calls them a category of shopping centre. 132.205.44.5 22:54, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

See also Woodward's "History". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Peter Horn (talkcontribs) 22:47, 6 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

What do you mean, what is what? They are two malls located in different municipalities. Luke! 22:57, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you check the "History" of Woodward's (before I revised it) you'll see that it read *New Westminster (Royal City Centre). So the question is: In which shopping centre (municipality) was that former Woodward's store located? Peter Horn 23:29, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My apologies. I did not understand correctly what you were trying to convey originally. Luke! 23:31, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And after looking at the Woodwards' history. It is the Royal City Centre Shopping Centre in New Westminster that the former Woodward's was located at. New Westminster's Wikipedia article indicates and supports this. Hope this clears it up. Luke! 23:37, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So when I made the educated guess when I made the revision of "History" of Woodward's it proved to be the right move. Peter Horn 17:08, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Refs[edit]

The list is looking much better. Question -- there are a smattering of entries that are red links, without independent RS refs -- but which have non-independent RS refs. Is that sufficient? Thoughts would be welcome. --Epeefleche (talk) 17:09, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
