Ford & Conrad[edit]

One of the things clearly missing from this piece is a discussion of Ford's collaboration with Conrad, and their joint/parallel creation of the unreliable narrator -- a founding element of modern fiction.

Ford with the Royal Welch?[edit]

That's part of the problem: there is no outline of Ford's life. Btw the entry on No More Parades says that Ford was an officer with the Royal Welch Fusiliers, which does not sound correct to me. As far as I know Ford was not in service on the western front, but worked in the British military propaganda.--213.140.21.227 19:38, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually Ford himself, in his memoir It was the Nightingale, says he was with the Royal Welch Fusiliers (p. 21, Ecco edition). Also the entry of the Royal Welch Fusiliers on the Wikipedia lists Ford among the members. Says Ford in his memoir: "I had been for the whole period of the war on the Western front with my nose so close to the grindstone of affairs that, as soon as I had any leisure, I really thirsted to knoe something about the events of war and the world outside my own three inches on the map." Now the issue of propaganda and participation to the war has been cleared, as you can see in the article. First he wrote war propaganda, then he went to the Flanders fields. Yes, some dates would be welcome. From one biography, I calculated that he was only in the front line for ten days (but these were ten days of the Somme), and his nervous breakdown took him out of the action after that. Valetude (talk) 15:46, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Change of name[edit]

Can someone please explain to me how changing his last name to Ford honours a relative whose last name was Brown, given that his first name was already "Ford" as per that relative. Sounds clear enough to me. In the English scheme of things, one can change their name almost instantly and at low cost by Deed Poll. Ford just rearranged the names he liked, 'Ford Madox' for the first and middle names of his grandfather and repeating the 'Ford' from his original first name.--TGC55 (talk) 10:58, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Evidently, he also wrote music: Sondra J. Stang and Carl Smith "Music for a while": Ford's Compositions for Voice and Piano Contemporary Literature, Vol. 30, No. 2, Ford Madox Ford and the Arts (Summer, 1989), pp. 183-223.
