Photo of Putin in Schoeps article[edit]

Hello. You've recently added a news photo of Putin using Schoeps microphones to the "Schoeps" articles in English and German. In the English-language version, the photo that you added is the only one in the article. This has the very painful effect, when one sees it, of implying guilt by association for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Maybe you intended that effect and maybe you didn't--I could understand it either way. Any and all protests against the invasion are justified in my opinion. But Schoeps has no control over who uses their products--and like many other companies around the world, the company has suspended all business in or with Russia in response to the invasion. So this association is really not warranted, and in this case actually misleading.

On a less emotional level, the choice of that photo also creates another false impression: that speech transmission is the most characteristic application for Schoeps microphones. (In the German article, the only other photo is one from the German parliament.) While microphones for film and video sound, broadcasting, conferences and public address systems have always been an important secondary market for Schoeps, the most representative photo would probably be the Three Tenors or Pavarotti using Colette microphones with RC extension tubes and B 5 D pop screens, or any of the many orchestras that use Schoeps microphones for broadcasting, streaming and recording.

Also, just as a technical point I don't think that the microphones in the photo are actually from Schoeps' Colette series as you say. I think they are CCMs (a series not covered in the article), which use the transducers of the Colette series but are non-modular as far as capsules and amplifiers are concerned.

I would really ask you to reconsider your editing choice and possibly to revert it. Other, more representative and less "charged" photos can surely be found. I promise to spend some time looking for something more suitable in the near future.

Sounds (German magazine) moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Sounds (German magazine). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Mattdaviesfsic (talk) 01:32, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Mattdaviesfsic, thanks for the notice. I have added sources to establish notability. Is that enough? I would not like to write more than a stub, since the article had to be created due to a disambiguation problem, related to my moving of the page Sounds (UK magazine). ChickSR (talk) 11:19, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looks alright, thanks. I don't like stubs personally (not that I have a hatred of them - I just like an article to be comprehensive!) but that should be fine. About me, talk to me; to notify me, type [[User|Mattdaviesfsic]]. Thanks! 13:11, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't like stubs either. But since I don't have the time and interest in the subject and there is already an extensive German-language article, this was the only thing I could quickly do to solve the issue. ChickSR (talk) 14:52, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Mattdaviesfsic, can it be removed from the draftspace now? Thanks for helping out. ChickSR (talk) 10:45, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
