Constitution

The "Political background" section of the article should be updated, mentioning what effect, if any, the new Serbian Constitution had on the issue. - Regards, Ev 00:38, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
In the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, article 7. states that the Republic of Serbia has a Coat of Arms, Flag (FR: Drapeau) and Anthem.
  • Coat of Arms are used as Great Coat of arms and Lesser Coat of Arms.
  • Flag of the Republic of Serbia exists and is used as Peoples Flag (Flag of the People, National Flag) and as State Flag (Republic Flag).
So why not publish these facts in the article Flag of Serbia. Not the Anthem, Coat of Arms, etc. But Peoples flag is in use, look at the Peoples Assembly of Republic of Serbia there are allways two flags The Flag of the People and The Flag of the State.
If we want to be exact then the title under The Flag of the State cann't be Flag of Serbia, but State Flag of Serbia or Flag of the Republic of Serbia. You cann't write that National flag was in use 2004-2006, because it is still in use to simbolize the difference between the State (eg. Governoment) and the People.
Flag of the People or People of Serbia flag or The Flag of the People of Serbia is in Serbian language (NARODNA ZASTAVA) not (NACIONALNA ZASTAVA) so translation in English language should be appropriate. Imbris 02:54, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Royal crown for a republic?

How come Serbia uses a royal crown on the shield, when the country is a republic? John Anderson 18:44, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Matter of tradition. Compare Coat of arms of Austria, Coat of arms of Russia. Duja 10:49, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, but Austria's crown is not a monarchial crown and the Russian crown is within the shield, which as far as I understand is of heraldic significance. John Anderson 11:25, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
What about Hungary? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.87.198.30 (talk) 16:27, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Why? Because we are Serbia, and we do silly stuff like that. Joking aside, Bulgaria, Georgia, and Montenegro have the same basic style as well. Buttons (talk) 06:09, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Article merg

I suggest we merge the article Coat of arms of the Socialist Republic of Serbia into the main Coat of arms of Serbia article. This article contains information regarding the Socialist CoA anyway. I see no need for its own separate page. Buttons (talk) 21:30, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I think this is the best this way.--Avala (talk) 22:00, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

New CoA

A new Coat of arms was recently adopted. Actualy, it is the same CoA, only standardised. Here it is: [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.246.36.222 (talk) 19:36, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

I suggest we postpone any changes as the issue of the "new" arms is drawing a lot of criticism including from some in the government itself. Let the dust settle until the situation is clarified. Buttons (talk) 03:32, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
The "old" CoA (2004-2010) is to be used from now on, the Republic of Serbia is to revert the change. B92: Država se pokajala, vraća stari grb --92.32.39.189 (talk) 19:21, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
As I suspected it would be, what a waste of time... Buttons (talk) 04:35, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
