There appears to be some contradiction between the lowland/highland status of this Clan. This article lists the clan as a lowland clan. However, the main scottish clan article lists the clan as a highland clan (as does the page's map). Accordingly, the two articles are in conflict with each other and one needs changed (or a "border clan" status needs to be adopted). Kirkpatrick 14:15, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Malcolm, Earl of Lennox[edit]

Is Malcolm in this Maol_Choluim_I,_Earl_of_Lennox? That article says he became Earl in 1250, which is 9 years after he supposedly granted lands to Humphrey/Umfridus Kilpatrick in 1241. So a) is the 1241 date wrong or b) was it Maldoven, Earl of Lennox who granted the lands, or c) are the dates in the Earl of Lennox articles incorrect or d) is this lost to history? NOTE that Alexander_II_of_Scotland rein ended in 1249 (before Malcolm came to power) so there seems to be some discrepancy here. Jeff schiller 13:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Colquhoun Low/Highland status[edit]

According to Loch Lomonds website the loch is only 7.9m above sea level. I would,in that case,personally consider the clan lowlanders.Maybe there is confusion because they are near to and often attacked by highland clans like the MacGregors etc.

LOL. Highland/lowland is nothing to do with height above sea level; it's an imaginary line that runs east to west across the country. Above it, Highlanders; below it, Lowlanders. [1] Alex 22:57, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The Colquhoun lands were roughly on the Highland/Lowland border. Though their lands technically were in the Lowlands, the Colquhouns are considered Highlanders because of the strong Gaelic culture of the Lennox up into the seventeenth century.--Celtus 04:20, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Septs of clan Colquhoun[edit]

Several names are listed which are considered to be septs of clan Colhoun - the name Colhoun in not among the list. Is this a mistake or was this done with intention?84.178.7.73 (talk) 13:18, 8 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article re-write[edit]

This article is a complete and utter mess. It has been tagged since 2009 as having a lack of sources and inline citations. The vast majority of the article is comletely unsourced. Most of the links that have been used as sources don't even work. Radom users have just come a long and added unsourced rubbish as they please. There is even a large section of what appears to be someone's personal genealogy of a completely different surname. The opening lines of the article are a complete mess. Allied clans?[edit]

Surely the Colquhouns had at least one ally during the course of their clan history? I've inferred that the Grants may have been allies, but given that Sir Humphrey Colquhoun, 5th Bt. insisted that their respective estates were never to be united when Grant succeeded to his Baronetcy maybe they weren't... We are not supposed to be adding allied or rival clans unless there is information in one of the two clan's Wikipedia articles to show that that they were either allied or rival.
