Early Life[edit]

I edited her early life, someone has said she is of mixed heritage Afro/Cuban and referenced the bio on her official website. I read through the bio and it says nothing about mixed heritage only that she is Cuban. If she is Afro/Cuban could someone reference an article on official bio that states. I know there is some debate about this point.--69.158.97.193 (talk) 07:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Cm2.jpg[edit]

Image:Cm2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 18:06, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fansites[edit]

I'm afraid I have had to remove the three fansites that were in the EL section - they all contained copyright violations, which is against the guideline published at WP:EL. They either contain copyrighted lyrics published without express permission, or links to videos or music which were not from the publisher's website. -- Alucard (Dr.) | Talk 11:55, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If one of those sites was [1], it should have stayed, as that's her official fan site. Christina even has a personal blog on the site, now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Goten X (talkcontribs) 17:08, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Milian and Dre[edit]

I think a picture of the couple would be great under personal life. Can anyone upload one? ЩіκіRocкs talκ 06:28, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I’ve added some information to the infobox, but this revision makes my addition invisible. A user in idwiki is convinced that such information is to be deleted at all. To my mind, the disappearance (or deletion) of my addition contradicts the very idea of an infobox. What Is To Be Done? Shall I do something like this? --Sir Gossip (talk) 19:14, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I reworked the page and added some references, but it really needs a copyedit. Please feel free to do so, and please contact me on my talk page if you have any queries. Corn.u.co.pia ŢĐЌ Disc.us.sion 06:54, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pseudonym[edit]

Does no one know, why she changed her name into Christina and chose Milian for her new surname? --Robbit (talk) 21:08, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. See this article for more information. Actually, I think that I will include it in the article. Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 13:36, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Cornucopia, thank you very much. At least the origin of "Milian" is now revealed, though the article says nothing, why she expects it more helpful for her career than "Flores" (does it sound more successish?). But the Christina-change is still obscure. Bye --Robbit (talk) 17:06, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

True. I have not found any information that can explain why, although I guess what we have already is alright. Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 02:23, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Christina Milian was in the movie, Man of the House with Tommy Lee Jones in 2005. I didn't see this listed anywhereAjjvaughan (talk) 20:55, 24 January 2010 (UTC) Ajjvaughan (talkcontribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic. [reply]

Self Promotion[edit]

This article is blatant self promotion and should be dramatically reduced in size. I had never heard of this person until I by chance, saw the film 'Be Cool'. For example, this article is larger than Uma Thurman's and equal to John Travolta's in size in Wikipedia (both are in said film). This person is not even thirty and does not warrant so much material. 1812ahill (talk) 00:25, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The problem we have here on Wikipedia is that it is all too easy to keep up with current news, despite that we are meant to be objective about these things; what may appear important today may, in the fullness of time, become irrelevant. Only retrospect can judge that. Meanwhile, Christina Milian is undoubtedly a person in whom there is some short-term interest, at least; only time will tell whether the level of detail is appropriate. In five years' time, this article will either be an historical account, or act as a springboard to greater things. But so far, it seems to be a current fad. Rodhullandemu 00:40, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Accepted. I suppose it is always possible she may become president one day, in which case all this detail would be highly relevant. Hmmmm... An article about myself is pending... Just kidding ;)1812ahill (talk) 01:58, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
To 1812ahill: Although I'm not a particular fan of the artist, I would not call the article "blatant self promotion" or say that the article should be "dramatically reduced in size." If this artist just so happens to have fans that are good with structuring articles on Wikipedia, should she be blamed for it? And if you think the Uma Thurman/John Travolta articles are much shorter, shouldn't it be your job to fix that problem by working on their articles yourself? Just stating my opinion. WikiGuy86 (talk) 23:02, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
@1812ahill: ¡Hola! Your John Travolta is a man. Nothing interesting. In opposition to him, Christina Milian is a beautiful woman (WP:reliable source: "Гаряча штучка Кристина Милиан" [The hottie Christina Milian]. TV Guide.ua (in Ukrainian). 2009-02-27. Retrieved 23 September 2019. ми її любити ніколи не перестанемо), with the consequence that her presence in our Wikipedia should be dramatically drastically expanded. Do you know other foreign languages for adding to d:Q230501? --Cubanoid de Castro (talk) 18:51, 23 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Changes[edit]

Regarding the changes made by the IP, I have the following reasoning for reverting:

  • The associated acts section is for "Other acts with which this act has collaborated on multiple occasions, or on an album, or toured with as a single collaboration act playing together", per here. Appearing on an album does not qualify.
  • Per here, "Because the lead will usually repeat information also in the body, editors should balance the desire to avoid redundant citations in the lead with the desire to aid readers in locating sources for challengeable material. Leads are usually written at a greater level of generality than the body, and information in the lead section of non-controversial subjects is less likely to be challenged and less likely to require a source." All that personal life info is sourced in the body, and I doubt anyone would find the engagement and pregnancy info "controversial".
  • Milian is Afro-Cuban, but I have been unable to find a reliable ref to support it. If you could find one, that would be great.
  • The first section is about her early life, not her whole life. That's why I used "early life" and not "biography" as the heading. The Darkchild info is sourced in the next sentence if you have a look, and you need a reference for her sisters' names, but you should be able to find one.
  • Also, if you have a look at every single article, you'll see that refs go after punctuation.

I hope all that info helps. Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 06:28, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

@Cornucopia: "Milian is Afro-Cuban". Yes, this "wikification" was wrong. It is a mistake to suppose that the words "Cuban" and "Kuban" are nothing but two tantamount variants of spelling (like disc and disk). The word "Cuban" refers to Cuba, Kuban referring to Nogai Horde. But Christina Milian has nothing in common with Mongols and Mongoloids (judging from her images). --Cubanoid de Castro (talk) 19:05, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Cornucopia: "Milian is Afro-Cuban". I've just added a number of sources, but it seems to me that your assertion is nothing but WP:OR. It's possible that she is partly of African descent, but it ain't necessarily so. It is well known that many Cubans have swarthy skin, let alone dark (black or brown) hair. The same can be said of the Southern Italians, but nobody thinks that they are Negroids. Do you know the song "The Dark Girl"? Being a part of Latin peoples, many Moldovans are swarthy, too. So what? Does this mean that they are of "Afro-Romance" ancestry? To my mind, Milian is merely Smuglyanka (like Moldavan girls) and this has nothing to do with African origin. That is why (I suppose) you can't find reliable sources which confirm your opinion. BTW, a picture of her father can be seen here. Is he of Negroid heritage? --Sir Gossip (talk) 14:55, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

M(ilian) as love (Polish: M jak miłość), or Milian's humility (Polish: pokora), has already become a historical fact. It would be therefore highly unhistorical to underestimate the significance of the relationship between Milian and her semi-Polish boyfriend for a biographical article. There is no doubt about WP:NOTTABLOID, but this must not, of course, be treated as an unforgivable belittling of WP:Reliable sources. Recognition of WP:NOTTABLOID has nothing in common with justification of the non-encyclopaedic assumption of the possibility of rejecting the latest news, which is incompatible with WP:Reliable sources. The sole basis of Steam5's revision can be found in the weakness of evidence. As Prof. Ian Christian Mill has rightly remarked, this sensation idle talk in gossip magazines is no more than metaphysical speculations about the real place of the above-mentioned guy (AmE) Jack the lad (Br. slang) fellow (normal BrE) in Christina Milian's personal life, because these photos are by no means evidence that "busty Christina Milian" is so frivolous as to become involved in a serious relationship with one of the amorous and volatile Frenchmen (as Valh07 is alleged to demonstrate). Our inquiry into these photos reliable sources, it goes without saying, should fully allow for the possibility of Christina Milian's passing fad. --Sir Gossip (talk) 10:51, 5 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately this "passing fad" has already entailed serious consequences. Nevertheless this stupid revision by an anonymous user who eventually ascribes to Milian comes into contradiction with the rules of our encyclopaedia because the second child has not been born yet. Reverted. --Cubanoid de Castro (talk) 13:43, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Christina and Lil Wayne[edit]

The article states: “On February 12, 2012, Lil' Wayne said that Christina Milian had joined Young Money, they later had a child together...” Why is the child thing never cleared up later in that section? Her three children come from her two husbands. Jhurley85 (talk) 12:20, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
