General

Twas reading about Doug, and other classic Nicktoons, feeling all nostalgic, and read that Doug's middle name was Yancy. Because I'm also in part a Futurama Geek, I know that Fry's brother's name is Yancy. Does Billy West like the name, or know someone close with the name? Or is this just a case where I'm making connections where there really aren't any? (For instance, Lincoln and JFK were assasinated for political reasons that would make Hideo Kojima's idea of the Patriots likely. Those people have tons of "Evidence" to prove their clames...) But I digress, to extreme points. So, Billy West knows a Yancy, or not? 65.96.98.74 02:59, 9 February 2006 (UTC)

Birthday

www.billywest.com cites Billy West's date of birth as 1952, but this article says 1950. I guess this is the one that's incorrect? -- Supermorff 15:17, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

It used to say 1952, but was changed when someone noticed that imdb.com lists his birthyear as 1950 [1]. So the question is which of the two sources are more credible: imdb or billywest.com. Haakon 23:11, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
i think billy west knows his own birthday and he has control over the site since he posts on the forums, ill e-mail billy and see if i can get this solved Kingpomba 12:13, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup

How does one tag this for clean-up? I'll bookmark this one myself for later purusal but this page really blows. I know what you're thinking then do something about it yourself. Sveden 14:55, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Totally agree, often you'll find an article in need of surgery but you don't have time to deal with it at the moment. The tag is {{cleanup}}. "Cleanup" is pretty vague, so if there are more specific problems, list them here. 12.22.250.4 23:24, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

his work

Why aren't his roles alphabetized? It's kind of useless as is. ABart26 06:28, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

See above, the article needs a lot of help. The list could also be organized better, maybe nested lists with the productions at the top level and the individual roles subtending from them. This will make a really long list, but something must be done. 12.22.250.4 23:26, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Phil Hartman and Futurama

"West's roles in Futurama include Philip J. Fry, Professor Hubert Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg and Zapp Brannigan (all of which, except Zoidberg, were set to be played by Phil Hartman)."

Where is this from?? I am pretty sure only Zapp Brannigan was going to be played by Phil Hartman.

I'm not an avid Billy West fan, so I can't comment to be sure, but if you think that's true then I recommend editing it to be so. It would also help to have a cite or reference to this trivia. SGreenwell 01:54, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
This made me react as well. I've never heard anyone involved in the show suggest Fry and Farnsworth were to be voiced by Hartman, so claiming this without sourcing it won't do. Pjalne 11:51, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
"Billy West states that the voice itself of Zapp Brannigan was an imitation of Phil Hartman, but that the actual vocalizations of the character were based on old-time radio announcers." This makes absolutely no sense to me, I recall West saying on a commentary that he was NOT doing an impersonation and had come in with his own thoughts on the character, and that the voice of Brannigan was more along the lines of a "DJ that loves the sound of his own voice." This may or may not be true, I require some more time to research this.JohnnyRush10 07:04, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
I, being a big fan of Billy West, pay attention to all the interviews and such that he does. He has been asked about this in nearly every interview. His answer has changed a bit a couple times. In my opinion, I believe the sound of the character's voice was intentionally close to Phil Hartman's voice, and the actual way the character speaks and acts and his persona were based on DJs/radio announcers. In the interview linked, though, West says (verbatim) "I was imitating Phil Hartman". So, given the apparent contradiction, it is unknown. Since the current information is sourced with an interview of the man himself, it should be taken as reliable. Chickenmonkey 20:20, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

Hartman as Fry Part Two

Okay, after having seen it reverted back and forth several times, I've come to the conclusion that the information about Hartman originally being pegged to play Fry must be sourced somehow. Where is this assertion coming from? Pointing toward the character Fry's Wikipedia page isn't helpful, since it is also unsourced on THAT page as well.

If nobody can find a credible source for this "fact," then I think we should remove it. I'd consider a credible source either an episode transcript, a commentary from one of the DVDs, an interview with one of the show's creators or something in an established news outlet (New York Times, etc). Ren & Stimpy Lost Episodes

Say, is there any info on why Billy West did not do work on the "Lost Episodes" of Ren & Stimpy (besides the obvious reason that they weren't that good)? I'd like to know if there were any official statements from Mr. West regarding his absence. Twineball 00:00, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

In at least one of the interviews that are linked in the article now, Billy talks about that. Basically, he knew they were gonna suck, because he knew they'd all just be focused on the characters being gay. Chickenmonkey 09:13, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
It wasn't the homosexual content, it was just lousy material: "I knew what they were up and I didn't want to have anything to do with it. I don't mind the homo hijinks, but it wasn't funny. Everyone was offended that they were gay but it doesn't matter if it wasn't funny. It would have damaged my career. It was one of the worst things I ever saw. Kricfalusi called me, and I told him I wished him all the luck in the world but I wasn't interested." UGO.com interview: http://www.ugo.com/channels/dvd/features/billywest/default.asp Xot (talk) 07:56, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Also according to Billy on his website's old forum which is now defunct and an interview he did on Howard Stern, John Kricfalusi had asked Billy not to continue to work on Ren and Stimpy or work for Bob Camp who Kricfalusi felt had betrayed him when he left Spumco to take over the reigns at Game Animations which was Nickelodeon's startup animation studio, Billy smartly declined Kricfalusi's request and Mr. Kricfalusi took that as an insult that Billy would not back him. I mean honestly I don't blame Billy, If I had a choice of getting voice-over work at ever available chance or back someone up for the principal and not get any work or make any money then I'd choose getting voice-over work and as User:Xot did point out Billy did try to be cordial and wish John K. the best of luck. Brandy and Mr. Whiskers

What is the basis of thought of Billy West voicing Whiskers on Brandy and Mr. Whiskers? The Brandy and Mr. Whiskers article even has a contradiction of this fact. Billy West isn't listed on the Brandy and Mr. Whiskers IMDB page (which doesn't really mean much as IMDB has been known to be incorrect). I've only seen Brandy and Mr. Whiskers once and that one viewing was clearly Charlie Adler voicing the character of Mr. Whiskers. I won't remove it, but I'd just like to know where this thought comes from.Chickenmonkey 06:30, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

I tagged the page as contradicting that page although upon closer inspection it does seem to indicate that the VA changed at some point. I've inquired at that talk page for more details. Stardust8212 00:37, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
I noticed that in the infobox it indicates Billy West took over for Andre Sogliuzzo, but not Charlie Adler. Then in the article it says West took over for both of them. I, personally, would take the word of those who are fans of the show, but I haven't been able to find anything other than their word that says West joined the show. Chickenmonkey 01:08, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Disambiguation Page

Does this need a disambiguation page? I would argue that the other Billy West is not prominent enough to cause confusion. There is not even any article linked for him, and the Primrose article is pretty minor.--DrewSears 07:11, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

First, I moved this to the bottom of the page because that's where people usually expect new material to be. This way people looking will be more likely to see this question, no biggie. To answer your question; no, I don't think this really needs a disambiguation page for the same reasons that you listed. Chickenmonkey 11:44, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree, I was very confused by it when it was created as well but now I think most of the links have been corrected so I'm not sure if it is necessary to remove it. Stardust8212 15:40, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

I nuked the dab page as pointless. (At one point, there were two blue links and three entries but no longer so it's gone). —Wknight94 (talk) 00:19, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Aqua Teen Hunger Force

Billy West DOES NOT do the voice of Master Shake, Dana Snyder is the voice of Master Shake. Who ever got the idea that its Billy West. I am deleting all ATHF and Master Shake references.

The old days

Billy did a great Larry Fine on 'BCN. You just can't beat a good Stooges impression. MarkinBoston 04:43, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Would you like to ask Billy West a question?

I am interviewing Billy West, voice of Philip J. Fry, Professor Hubert Farnsworth, Dr. Zoidberg and Zapp Brannigan, next Thursday, November 15. If you have questions for West, leave them on my talk page. --David Shankbone 22:22, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

veagan?

why is it tagged "American vegans"? I see nothing in the article that says he is. So I am removing. No offense to Billy, if he is, he is, but I haven't read anything about it. Iamanadam (talk) 04:24, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Display picture

He says he hates the picture here. Is there any way we can get a new one? One that maybe doesn't make him look like he's going to punch a rabid fan? Like me?

Billy, feel free to upload your own picture. Nobody's going to dispute that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bloodwarp (talkcontribs) 02:05, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

I tried sending him an email requesting a new image (through the email address he gives on his website) but I did not receive a response. The only way to get a better picture is for someone who owns a picture of him (as in they had to have taken it themselves, it can't be a copyrighted picture off the net) to upload it. Stardust8212 01:28, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

For all the fuss about the bad picture before it's hilarious that the current pic is 100 times as bad. Could we please get a picture that accurately represents how this man looks? 216.165.95.72 (talk) 06:52, 18 July 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.165.95.72 (talk) 06:50, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Contributions to Repo! The Genetic Opera Stageplay?

http://www.repoopera.com/tier_playbill/main5.asp If you scroll down some, it says that Billy West was a co producer during some of the stageplays of Repo! The Genetic Opera. Does anyone have any more information on this/is it relevant enough to be added to the article? 76.117.207.184 (talk) 06:33, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia quotes

  1. "I hate the picture of myself on my Wikipedia page. Looks like I'm angry or something. Yes, I do regularly read my own Wikipedia article."[15]
  2. "I frequently add irrevelant information and quotes to my Wikipedia page."[15]

I checked the citation for these [2] and didn't see any mention of Wikipedia. I searched the entire blog and found no mention of Wikipedia. I wonder if these quotes are made up? At the very least, they aren't correctly sourced. I'll remove the quotes as unreferenced if there are no objections within a day or so. -kotra (talk) 22:27, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Considering that the article was posted in 2006 and that picture, was uploaded in 2007, I think it's safe to say it's not in the interview. Also, "I frequently add irrevelant information and quotes to my Wikipedia page" seems to be a dead giveaway. -- Scorpion0422 22:38, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Nicktoons MLB

It says under Video Games taht he voiced Yak in Nicktoons MLB, but the credits of that game don't mention who voices Yak. Can someone find out if he really is the voice actor of Yak? 58.165.138.73 (talk) 02:11, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

Adventure Time!

Billy West also does the voice of "Jake the Dog" on the series "Adventure Time! With Finn & Jake" on Cartoon Network. There is no mention of this in the article & I'm not %100 sure how to edit the charts. If someone who knows more sees this please update. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.9.60.97 (talk) 22:35, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your interest in improving Wikipedia. However, Jake on Adventure Time is actually voiced by John DiMaggio.  Chickenmonkey  05:58, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Is Billy West doing Mickey Mouse?

I was at the entry for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It said Billy West as Mickey Mouse (TBA). I think Disney must had hired Billy West to the voice for Mickey Mouse, Since Wayne Allwine passed away. Is it true, or not? I am just wondering. ~User:BuddyBoy600 —Preceding undated comment added 02:24, 21 June 2009 (UTC).

I just marked it for citation needed. - Jasonbres (talk) 17:57, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
No the voice of Mickey Mouse is now performed by Bret Iwan. 108.9.214.161 (talk) 11:19, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
