Twitter source for birthdate[edit]

This https://twitter.com/TheBillyWest/status/1515374551152046083 twitter message is being used to support birth month and day. It has two problems per WP:TWITTER. It is not a verified account so "4 - there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity" is not met and "2 - it does not involve claims about third parties" is dubious as he is basically thanking other people for congratulating him on his birthday. He isn't directly stating the information himself. This isn't sufficient as a reliable source per WP:BLPPRIVACY. We have a source for birth year. That is generally sufficient for bio articles, no need for more if it isn't very well sourced. Geraldo Perez (talk) 22:23, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Twitter is not considered a reliable source. You need something that is posted on an official source like his website or a genealogy record. YborCityJohn (talk) 22:32, 16 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:TWITTER and WP:BLPPRIVACY, Twitter messages from verified accounts that give information about the account owner can be used in that person's article with some caveats. Birth info is one of the things that can be used if clearly stated by the subject. The issue here is it is not clearly stated and is in an unverified account. Wasnt planning on actually changing this, just wanted help understanding this Wikipedia policy. Would Maurice Lamarche’s (who is verified) Twitter post here https://twitter.com/mauricelamarche/status/1515406150849597440?s=21&t=Kqq35sHOyLysfRkb-D9jng be considered as a source for the date itself or does it have to be from Billy himself? Like I said I wouldn’t change it without consensus, was just wondering!Windyshadow32 (talk) 08:12, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm on Windyshadow's track. I can't see what more you could possibly need! Scratchu90 (talk) 14:42, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A little blue checkmark next to his name saying verified by Twitter is the basic requirement for using any Twitter account as a reference - too many posers to just trust a name and an assertion "it's me". See https://help.twitter.com/en/managing-your-account/about-twitter-verified-accounts for what that means. A reliable source stating it is his account would also work. Also a clearer statement than "Here's to me...yah i'm old." Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:44, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Now, can this edit war finally end and this source be added? Scratchu90 (talk) 20:51, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Or the source excluded as it doesn't meet WP:RS and WP:BLPPRIVACY requirements. You could bring it up at WP:BLPN and see what they say. I expect they'll reject it too. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:09, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
https://twitter.com/TheBillyWest/status/1515896492501872640 This was also sent by Billy West. I'm aware about the problem with there being a lack of a verified checkmark, but I found this, sent by Maurice LaMarche, who is close friends with Billy West: https://twitter.com/mauricelamarche/status/900169225896996864?lang=ca. I apologize if I seem annoying, I don't really do this sort of stuff on Wikipedia. Scratchu90 (talk) 12:14, 18 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Strictly speaking we can't use even a verified twitter account to give information about other people, only about themselves, so LaMarche's verification of West's account isn't strictly permitted. However, "4 - there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity" in WP:TWITTER seems to be met by common sense if nothing else, there is really no doubt that that is West's account. West's first message on his birth date is ambiguous, his second message the next day clarifies what his first message meant so we do have a set of messages that support the data. We would have to include all 3 plus the original source of the year to support a birth date. Suggest we create one reference that lists all 4 sources. LaMarche's message to support West's account being controlled by West and thus a valid source, the other 3 gives the date. Still a bit of WP:SYNTHESIS so could be still challenged.
