Request for comment on Biographies of living people

Hello Wikiproject! Currently there is a discussion which will decide whether wikipedia will delete 49,000 articles about a living person without references, here:

Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Biographies of living people

Since biographies of living people covers so many topics, nearly all wikiproject topics will be affected.

The two opposing positions which have the most support is:

  1. supports the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, User:Jehochman
  2. opposes the deletion of unreferenced articles about a living person, except in limited circumstances, User:Collect

Comments are welcome. Keep in mind that by default, editor's comments are hidden. Simply press edit next to the section to add your comment.

Please keep in mind that at this point, it seems that editors support deleting unreferenced article if they are not sourced, so your project may want to pursue the projects below. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ikip (talkcontribs) 02:18, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Repurposing?

What would folks think about repurposing this Wikiproject to include other Joss Whedon works, like Dr. Horrible, Dollhouse, Firefly and the like? Jclemens (talk) 02:10, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

I don't think anybody would mind, especially because it seems there isn't anybody else here (see the above discussion). And if it brings some activity to those articles, then I personally would be glad about it. Svick (talk) 10:11, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

natural causes

I deleted from four articles a statement that only four characters ever died of "non-supernatural" causes: Joyce (The Body), Katrina (Dead Things), Tara (Seeing Red), Cassie (Help). This omits Alan Finch (Bad Girls) and some Byzantines (Spiral), but a greater problem is that several mundane deaths occur offscreen, including Daryl Epps and at least one of the girls in "Some Assembly Required"; the zombies in "The Zeppo"; Ted's wives — I'm likely forgetting some. ... And if a demon breaks your neck, is that a supernatural cause?

What language will make the intended point more accurately? —Tamfang (talk) 00:29, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

If a demon breaks your neck, it's a supernatural agency but not a supernatural cause. —Tamfang (talk) 02:55, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
"Natural causes" in traditional parlance excludes dying from violence. "Medical causes" covers Joyce and Cassie, and is probably the only distinction that really has merit. Finch, et. al. died of violence, and there's not a bright line--Faith killed Finch, and she's supernaturally powered, but Warren isn't, so does Katrina go in a different category? Jclemens (talk) 04:12, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
Giles described a road accident as 'natural causes' in "Some Assembly Required" – reminding me of a repeated line in a Mad (or similar) parody of some gangster movie: "Around here, that's natural causes." —Tamfang (talk) 05:18, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Updates to TV#MOS

I'm not sure how many people monitor WP:MOSTV or even WP:TV (the basic WikiProject for all of us), but we've been trying to get some feedback on additions to the TV Manual of Style. It largely has to do with the inclusion of "Overview" tables at the start of the page, the order in which season lists are presented (currently, there is no concrete order), and what is considered too much info for DVDs (i.e. should we be placing every detail about the box set in the article, from each interview to the aspect ratio, or should be keep it more generalized). Please see discussion at WT:MOSTV#Updates to the MOS. Thank you.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:12, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
