Forestry-related lists: peer review request

Hello all,

Bit by bit, I've been working on several lists of interest to this WikiProject, including:

With these lists now at a decent initial level, I'd like to see one or more of them developed intofeatured lists. Please make suggestions (either here, or even better, on the respective list's talk page) for how these lists may be further improved Other contributions to these list-articles welcome, too! Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 15:05, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

P.S. An additional forestry-related list that I started a while back, List of forestry journals, also could use help. Not necessarily so much on the list itself, but there are quite a few redlinked items on it -- many key forestry journals lack articles on them in en:Wikipedia (some may exist in other languages). Select a favorite, notable but redlinked forestry journal & start an article on it! Thanks & Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 15:42, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Forestry on Wikimedia Commons

Also, I've recently been trying to better organize material on Wikimedia Commons related to forestry (seealt = Category:Forestry). Along the way, I noticed that many items in the Commons related to forestry have yet to be cataloged as such. E.g. there are many images of Japanese schools of agriculture and forestry that remain unlinked to the Commons' Category:Forestry. Further contributions welcome there, too! Article alerts

Please note the new article alerts section on the home page of this Wikiproject. At this time, for example, there is an 'Articles for deletion' proposal, posted for comment. Registered users can add these alerts on their watchlists at Wikipedia:WikiProject Forestry/Article alerts. Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 18:26, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

... started in May 2012. Additional input welcome! Regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 02:51, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Forestry navigation box

I've been working on the Template:Forestry navigation box, a key template for this WikiProject. I think it is close to where it needs to be/ can be for now, but would appreciate input especially from more scientifically-oriented forestry perspectives. Certainly room for further development, refinement. Thanks,DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 14:46, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Proposed merge of REDD articles

Hello, I've proposed a merge of two, overlapping articles on REDD, including also the United Nations REDD Programme article. WP:Forestry member comments on this proposal (at Talk:REDD would be most welcome. Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 14:35, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

WP:Forestry task - tagging stub articles

Hello, There are several stub tags designed to help identify and organize forestry-related articles needing further development:

Any WP:Forestry editor who would like to help tag such articles is most welcome to do so. By convention, the stub tags are placed below the category tags, at the bottom of the article. Thanks & Kind regards,DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 13:29, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Copse - put under "Coppicing"?

While studying a map of central England, I noticed lots of woodland areas named ___ Copse, but couldn't find anything in Wikipedia about what a copse is. I found it in Wiktionary, but I'm wondering if the Coppicing article could use this. The etymology shows a relation, but if copses aren't necessarily coppiced woods, then perhaps a separate forestry article on copses would be warranted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by128.187.97.20 (talk) 20:05, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

The first sentence says Basal Area is at the tree "base'..... clearly the formula indicates it is cross-sectional area of the tree at "DBH" as is common practice for foresters. [See the followingreference.]

Peer review request

Hello, I've initiated a peer review request for the List of historic schools of forestry article, and would appreciate comments from WP:Forestry editors on ways it can be improved. Ultimately, I would like to nominate it for Featured List status. Please add your suggestions atthis link. Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 22:09, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I've started a new, high-level forestry-related list, List of forestry ministries. It is incomplete (more countries to add, esp. as there are relevant articles to add), and needs documentation and verification. Contributions welcome! Kind regards, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 12:44, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Two new navigation boxes

Hello, I've spun off two, new navigation boxes from Template:Forestry, which has probably max'd out in useful size:

I'm an expert in neither area (though found both interesting to put together) and would welcome input from other editors who are knowledgeable on the respective topics. Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld(talk) 14:23, 28 May 2013 (UTC)
