A proposition

I have a proposition:
how about adding this userbox (or replacing the other one ) : {{User WP Abkhasia}} :

By the way : nice work with this project ;) --Leitz 20:26, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks ) You know, this is the coat of arms of the Republic of Abkhazia. That's why a more neutral image (map) is used in the userbox. It wouldn't be very wise to alienate potential members imho. Alæxis¿question? 21:50, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Sorry , I didnt know that , thank for telling me --Leitz 15:40, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm not really a userbox person so I don't really care either way but I think the flag and coat of arms are part of Abkhazia like it or not and they should be part of the wikiproject. There should be at least two sets of userboxes, one with the flag or coat of arms and a neutral one with the map. Similar to WP:Palestine. Pocopocopocopoco (talk) 00:35, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
If someone wants to have an alternative ub at his page he/she can do it, I suppose. We won't even banish him/her from the project for that :)) Alæxis¿question? 12:29, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Google maps

Google has added high-resolution maps of Sukhum, Gagra, Gudauta and Gali (there had already been high-res maps of Ochamchira and its vicinity for some time). Enjoy looking at Abkhazia from above :)

ps. Any help with geocoding these images would be appreciated. Alæxis¿question? 08:26, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Cheers, I've been waiting for this for some time! sephia karta 16:03, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

An ongoing discussion that is taking place, might have an affect on Abkhazian articles. VartanM (talk) 01:33, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Transliteration

There's no universal method of transliterating Abkhaz language in WP currently. In fact there's no widely accepted transliteration scheme of Abkhaz in scientific literature as well. Here some of the proposed variants are presented in a nice table. Do you think that we should adopt one these schemes and use it throughout WP? Or should we make double transliteration - from Abkhaz to Russian (this is easy) and then use WP:RUS? Alæxis¿question? 17:12, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Ongoing discussion

How should Abkhazia's administrative division be reflected in WP and some naming issues - User_talk:Dinamik#Ochamchire_district. Alæxis¿question? 21:08, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

I think the first question is whether the districts of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, which exist only de jure, not de facto, are interesting enough to deserve their own Wikipedia article. If the answer to this is yes, then the second question is what name their articles should have. In respect to the first question, I would intuitively say no, but I am an inclusionist, so I don't mind to their existing if someone created them, as short descriptive articles. sephia karta | di mi 20:53, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
