Wikipedia:School and university projects/Nature Conservation Foundation - Improvement drive on articles on Indian wildlife/forests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Starting with a wiki-workshop being coordinated by User:Prashanthns during their Annual Refresher on February 28, 2011 at BR Hills in South India, scientists and students at Nature Conservation Foundation plan to improve articles on Indian Wildlife through better referencing, improving and updating information, adding distribution maps and uploading photographs from their fieldwork onto Wikimedia Commons. This will be an ongoing event through 2011. If participation is good and articles do get improved, it is likely to be continued.

Background[edit]

Wildlife researchers generate a huge amount of photographs, videos and other media in course of their field work. A lot of these lie within the dark hinterlands of their own computers. They have immense educational value in illustrating articles on wikipedia. Similarly, several scientific reports and assignments prepared by students, literature reviews done by them for projects etc all have immense scope for improving articles on wikipedia.

Scope of project[edit]

Project being coordinated by User:Prashanthns. Event being a follow-up of the discussion during [Valparai Wiki TEN

Resources[edit]

A number of wikiprojects may be associated with the articles being taken up by this group. (Include names of projects that could be consulted)
