  28. Animalparty (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I've made over 25,000 edits and created over 200 articles since 2013. Lately I've been using historic newspaper sources to expand biographies of notable scientists and artists (examples include Ralph Vary Chamberlin, Richard M. Eakin), as news of the day provides a fascinating contemporary perspective to complement later sources. However, being limited to public domain sources or scattered scans restricts the scope and time period I can access. I have no institutional access to a similar newspaper archive, especially one as vast in scope as Newspaperarchive.com, and a Wikilibrary account would enable me to "fill in the gaps" and bring more biographies to light. --Animalparty! Numerous contributions in areas of film, television, history and politics. My subscription to Newspaperarchive.com recently lapsed and I continually feel its absence, particularly when a film review or an obituary proves difficult to find in other resources, such as Google archive. I'm currently using Newspapers.com through the Wikipedia Library, and I'm sure that this tool could further expand my reach to newspaper sources that Newspaper.com from time to time seems to lack (papers from some American cities are not available, least to say, from other parts of the world.)--GDuwenTell me! 17:27, 24 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Nikkimaria:::Not very active at the moment, but I take from time to time a short break like I'm doing. I always come back when I find the perfect project. My subscription through the Wikipedia Library to Newspapers.com proved useful so far. My only doubt is the amount of available sources comparing both websites. If Newspaperarchive.com offers compelling complementary access to papers not available on Newspaper.com I would say I could make a good use of it. If it is more or less the same, I would definitely say that it is not necessary. If my current absence does not convince you to grant me the use, I also would understand it. I tend to look for that project that inspires me to write a nicely detailed article and put me free time on it.--GDuwenTell me! 02:53, 12 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  63. Dovid (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I have been editing WP for a decade and have over 2,000 edits. My editing interests are eclectic, but often include historical subjects from the 1600s through the 1900s. As an example of where access would be useful, I recently worked on articles relating to Hog Island (New York), and had to rely on tertiary sources, such as a recent newspaper account that itself referenced an inaccessible old newspaper account of a hurricane in the late 1800s. Having direct access to that source would make this sort of editing much easier, and allow direct reference to the original source instead of indirect referencing. It would also improve article depth and possibly accuracy. Older records are often less precise than those made today, and it is beneficial to have easy access to multiple contemporaneous sources. 76. allixpeeke (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email)), I have been active on Wikipedia for over ten years (with over 5,000 edits), on Wikiquote for over twenty-one months (with almost 14,000 edits), and on Wikidata for over twenty-one months (with over 1,000 edits).  I also edit Commons and Wikisource from time to time (and I've been known to irregularly edit Wikinews, Wiktionary, Simple, and Wikibooks, among others).

My main focus on Wikipedia has been political philosophy, while my focus tends to be broader on Wikiquote, where I've done the majority of my editing.  As an example of something I'm currently working on on Wikiquote, I've been recently focused on figures from Colonial America.  Although I've started with Maryland, I've designs eventually cover all of the major figures of that era from all of the America colonies.  Thus, so far, I've created pages for Lord Baltimores George Calvert and Cecil Calvert; governors Leonard Calvert, Thomas Greene, William Stone, Josias Fendall, and Thomas Notley; and rebels William Davyes and John Pate.  (This is by no means to imply that Colonial America is my sole focus on Wikiquote, of course; I've created pages as diverse as the Fibonacci sequence, Jefferson in Paris, honey (the food), Honey (the band), Lady Godiva, Monday, Mother Nature, and police state, just to name only a very few.)

Currently, I use a combination of the books I've accumulated over the years and the (free) Internet in order to conduct research, both for Wikipedia and for Wikiquote, although I often find myself wishing I could access news articles from various eras in order to shed further light on how the topics at hand were viewed in their respective time periods.  Access to this archive would certainly prove useful for my various endeavours on the various Wiki projects.

    Thanks for the consideration,

Some of the players I write on had local or regional reputations rather than national ones, so coverage of them in national newspapers of the time, books, etc is limited. 106. Lawikitejana (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) in the several years I have been editing Wikipedia, I have previously used this resource a great deal back when I was employed and had the money to subscribe. I've used it for various historical figures from business and entertainment, such as Stanley Marcus and Charo because it enabled me to look up articles from the first half of the 20th century that aren't covered by newspaper archives to which I presently have access through my local library (e.g., NewsBank). While these days I'm not able to edit quite as often as I used to, I do edit periodically and it contributed to a wide variety of articles, including those on various diplomatic rescuers during the Holocaust, as well as several related to El Salvador and its 12-year civil war, much of which is not covered by some of the other archives due to copyright issues that rule out access to articles from 1977-1984.
