Wikipedia:Merge All

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is a proposed policy.

Merge All is the process by which all pages can be merged into one page to aid organization and get rid of messy links.

Description[edit]

Merge All, when implemented, will start the merging of all articles in main space into one article whose name will be chosen by consensus. This article will be tabled, with each article having a title, a subject, and content (which would be hidden using {{hidden}} and created by copying and pasting from the article it was merged from). The table will be sortable for allowing articles with the same subject to be close to each other or for ease of access of finding any given title.

A bot would then go through and replace each redirect with a "see (name)" link and would unlink regular links per WP:Avoid_using_wikilinks.

Advantages[edit]

  1. No need to mess around with redirects.
  2. No messy wikilinks.
  3. Page can be protected to stop vandalism EVERYWHERE at once!

Disadvantages[edit]

None.

Possible Modifications[edit]

  1. Other namespaces could also be merged together.
