Reason: This image provides a relatively rare look at a submerged submarine from an aerial source. This is only possible in certain portions of the world and in certain weather conditions. The image is especially helpful in the Los Angeles class submarine article, as it provides a good look at certain features of the class.

Creator: Image was uploaded to commons by Protonk (talk), but I am not the image creator. The image was created by a military member and forwarded to us (I was stationed on the Key West at the time) via ComSubPac (our bosses). The image was reduced in size in photoshop so it could be emailed (note the meta-data).

Oppose too small, unsharp also not too keen on the angle/framing. As far as the size goes, the full size version could easily have been emailed in jpeg format, most email limits around 10MB - that translates to a sizeable jpeg - around 15MP at 80% quality. Oppose That's a nice photo, but I don't think that it meets the FP criteria. Submarines can be spotted from aircraft when they're operating at a shallow depth pretty much anywhere where the water is clear (which is why they generally stay bellow periscope depth) so this is isn't all that rare.
