Speedy deletion nomination of Ian Henderson (retired Govt official)[edit]

Hello Zayed7,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ian Henderson (retired Govt official) for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Travelbird (talk) 08:05, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one of your recent edits has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Ian Henderson's birthplace[edit]

Hi Zai. Thanks for the message. There's every chance that you're actually a relative, in which case sorry for your loss, and that you're right. Unfortunately that doesn't count. Even if I set you a test, like what was Joy's husband's name (and even if I knew the answer :) ), it wouldn't matter. WP can only use published sources; that does include some personal stuff, like Twitter, but only when there's a good level of comfort that the information is correct. In this particular case I actually believe you, but nothing we can do unless there's something published (even offline) that you can point to. Bromley86 (talk) 20:26, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re. Times or Telegraph. Unfortunately the Times is paywalled. That doesn't mean it can't be used to cite (just as one can use an offline book to provide support for a point/fact), but it does mean that papers without a paywall (like the Guardian) or with a partial paywall (like the Telegraph) are increasingly being used. So unless the Times actually contradicts the Telegraph re. his place of birth, the Telegraph remains the "best" source. I've removed the Telegraph from the External Links, for what that's worth.
