Hi, while working on NPP I've come across Herb Plenty, an RAAF officer. The article seems to have been created by an editor with a COI, and is lacking many citations. I wondered whether you might be able to pass any judgement on it? Thanks, Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 20:48, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will take a look and leave some comments on the talk page. Pinging @Ian Rose:, given his expertise in RAAF subjects. Zawed (talk) 10:06, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for leaving those comments. Acknowledging that the article needs a lot of work, would you say that Plenty is at least notable? Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 16:58, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks guys for bringing this one up. I'd say Plenty is on the margin of notability -- I recall without looking at the article that he makes it into at least a couple of reference works beyond the official history of Australia in World War II; his leadership after the Red Sales disaster is described in some detail in Alan Stephens Going Solo, the official post-war history, for instance. I think we could make something of this, although I might take some time getting to it... Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) 18:03, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Mick Ensor you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. I have linked a discussion on the Dunkirk movie talk page regarding as to whether Al Deere was the inspiration for Farrier, as you maintain that’s it is not confirmed. 92.17.199.182 (talk) 09:56, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Zawed, thank you for your help in the Manekshaw awards inclusion dispute. I want to take INS Shakti (A57) to FA class, and have a question on a potential issue. Is it necessary to include the ship class for every ship mentioned? I've done so sparingly and not for every instance. When I looked through the current FA class naval ships, most of them are WW1/2 or Cold War era ships which saw combat, so they don't have a lot of other ships named. What do you think? Matarisvan (talk) 09:00, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I think that you will probably want to name the ship type (destroyer, cruiser etc...) but not necessarily the ship class (Deepak class, Adiyta class). I generally don't do ship articles though so am not a specialist. For what its worth, I'm not sure that this is the best ship article to go to FA with, partly due to it being on active service. The article would need to be kept updated to maintain its FA standard. Zawed (talk) 03:49, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, apologies for my delayed response. In hindsight, you are right, the article would be eligible for FA only if the subject ship is retired. That said, could you please close the ACR if possible, I tagged Ian Rose to withdraw but he may have missed it. The review hasn't got any comments and will not get them probably ever, perhaps because active topics aren't eligible for ACR/FAC. I will renominate once the ship is no longer active, which won't be anytime soon, so I will've to work on other articles. Matarisvan (talk) 19:18, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Kia ora Zawed, hope life's treating you well. Paora and I spent some time turning a sad-looking stub into something more decent. It's got an empty section on his military campaign, though. I thought you might be tempted tackling that. The Evening Post obituary can give you a taste of what he was like as an officer. Schwede66 03:42, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Schwede66, apologies for the delayed response, just got back from a holiday in Rarotonga. I will take a look at the Buckley article and see what I can do. As I have some books on Antarctic exploration, I review these too see if anything useful can be added. Cheers, Zawed (talk) 23:19, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hope you had a great holiday! Schwede66 23:22, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
