Misunderstanding[edit]

India After Gandhi[edit]

gbooks is wrong when it says the book has only 300 pages. The 2008 paperback edition is over 900 pages. Also before redirecting articles like "Madrasi", don't decide unilaterally. For big changes like that it is better to begin a discussion and ask for opinion of others. (i have added three more sources for it being considered a "slur" now).--Sodabottle (talk) 15:26, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Thank you for your recent contributions. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft version first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, without the risk of speedy deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. (talk) 12:49, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

February 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Enthiran. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. (talk) 14:54, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I warn you not to play warning games with me. --Wangond (talk) 14:56, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Rather than making statements in edit comments or making vague threats, please use a Dispute resolution process. Thanks (talk) 14:58, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will book you for editwarring and ignoring discussion progress at talk pages and ignoring edit summaries. --Wangond (talk) 15:00, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you feel you have a case then by all means go ahead and seek advice (presumably that's what you mean by "book you"). I have already pointed out that removing a maintenance template which points to an ongoing dispute is clearly against the guidelines and putting it back is neither edit warring or ignoring discussions. (talk) 15:06, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You have not responded to my arguments. And now you're putting the damn template back without any clear answer or point. And even more worse, you don't bother about other articles in this case. You just come here and disrupt a Tamil article. All Indian movie articles would have no box office section anymore, if you're point would be accepted. There will be no lists of Box offices for Indian movies. If you want to go to dispute resolution, I'm ready to face the whole consequences, but I'm not sure, whether this will be the case for other users, too. This will be a ground-breaking dispute resolution process. I'm seriously interested in the outcome. So open a dispute resolution process, since you are the only one here, who sees a dispute here. I will revert your template until you open the process, since this is the only way you can proof your good faith in this case.--Wangond (talk) 15:17, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is not required for contributors to prove their good faith, the guideline is for it to be assumed, see WP:AGF. I have addressed your points on the article talk page and here. Your behaviour of repeatedly deleting a maintenance template does not meet the guidelines of BOLD. (talk) 15:30, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at how you misuse these guidelines for disruptive editing, I seriously doubt you should talk about it!--Wangond (talk) 15:37, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Enthiran. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue.

In particular, the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Editors violating the rule will usually be blocked for 24 hours for a first incident.
  3. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes. Work towards wording, and content that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. (talk) 17:49, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You have been reported for editwarring.--Wangond (talk) 18:55, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ponniyin Selvan (2012 film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Per WP:NFF (the notability guideline for future films), articles on films may not be created until principal filming has begun, and then only when the production itself has received significant coverage.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:28, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ponniyin Selvan (2012 film), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:30, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification[edit]

Let me just clarify what happened: I prodded the article first as an uncontroversial deletion. However, after doing that, I saw that the article had recently been deleted under the AfD process. As such, I removed the prod and requested the article be speedily deleted. Please note that this article can not exist until principal filming has begun. Note that being "confirmed" essentially means nothing in the movie industry--numerous films are confirmed, budgeted, and cast, but then canceled prior to filming. This is why WP:NFF explicitly states that we may not have articles on films until such time as principal filming has started, and then only when the production itself has received multiple sources of significant coverage. Otherwise, we wait until the film is much closer to completion for an article. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Otherwise, please do not recreate this article until it meets our notability guidelines. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:34, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know the filming part. --Wangond (talk) 09:13, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rice and curry[edit]

Hi Wangond, do you have any sources calling rice and curry a "National dish" of south India? Salih (talk) 17:42, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Salih, the national part doesn´t need sources. It´s an integral part of the English language. Don´t be country-centric, as this obviously doesn´t apply here, since South India doesn´t form a nation. Be bold.--Wangond (talk) 17:48, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
We have to be precise here, calling something a "national dish" is exaggerating, not being bold.--Sodabottle (talk) 18:01, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Are you forming an allice against me? It doesn´t say Indias national dish. It precisely says AP,KN,KL,TN.--Wangond (talk) 18:05, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

want to call it national dish of india instead?--Wangond (talk) 18:07, 25 March 2011 (UTC) http://books.google.com/books?id=LtQqAAAAMAAJ&q=national+dish+of+kerala&dq=national+dish+of+kerala&hl=en&ei=otmMTYGsKorg4gaziPGrCw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CEEQ6AEwAg[reply]

No one is forming an alliance against you. Discuss the edit, not the editor. The link you provided doesnt produce a snippet to support the "national dish" claim. In such case, it is always better to be precise and avoid exaggeration. If the dish is widespread and popular, say it is so, dont use something like "national dish" which can always be construed as something else.--Sodabottle (talk) 18:10, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
so what about this source? http://books.google.com/books?id=3IUfAAAAIAAJ&q=%22national+dish+of+india%22&dq=%22national+dish+of+india%22&hl=en&ei=atyMTee-NcuN4Aae4-3cCw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CD8Q6AEwBA --Wangond (talk) 18:19, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
and this? http://books.google.com/books?id=wnpLAAAAIAAJ&q=%22national+dish+of+india%22&dq=%22national+dish+of+india%22&hl=en&ei=atyMTee-NcuN4Aae4-3cCw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=9&ved=0CE8Q6AEwCA --Wangond (talk) 18:20, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I confirm nobody is forming an alliance against you. The rice and curry is the most commonly used food in South India, so let' just call it staple food. Salih (talk) 18:16, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't want politics in this article. And that's why, I want to term it "national". Do you get it people? --Wangond (talk) 18:21, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I dont know how you are connecting this with politics. The links you provided are good. They prove some travel writers have labelled it "national dish of india". But to term it as such in a wikipedia article without context will mislead the reader. It will be taken something like "national animal of india is tiger". It always pays to be clear about such labels.

Using your sources, we can add "rice and curry has been labeled as national dish of india". You see the difference? pronouncing it as "Rice and curry is de facto national dish of TN/AP/Kerala" is announcing it as a fact. We have to be precise here.--Sodabottle (talk) 18:32, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll tell you how you are connecting it to politics: "calling something a "national dish" is exaggerating", while the national dish article precisely says, that it may also describe a regions staple food, which in our example is AP,... You are only concerned about a very different aspect of the word nation, which is only political.--Wangond (talk) 18:40, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Adding on that, if we use this source, we will have to label rasam as the national dish of india. So it is always better to exercise caution and say someone says so.--Sodabottle (talk) 18:35, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I was cautious, when I labeled the regions staple food as national food of AP, etc. ... --Wangond (talk) 18:40, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The first link you provided earlier is not very accurate, since it defines the curry as rice with sauces, herbs, vegetables. The second link clearly says curryrice is the national food of India. However, look at this, which shows that this usage is extremely rare. If this is the case it may not be proper to call rice and curry a "National dish". Regards Salih (talk) 18:45, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don´t know, whether there should be nations at all. I think, you should revert the edit to national, since my arguments go Beyond "nations".--Wangond (talk) 18:54, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rice and curry is the national dish of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu, sometimes described as the national dish of India.[1][2]

Hello[edit]

Hi Wangond, how are you fellow? why are you constantly reverting my edits. May i know reason for that. and you are trying to tag Nationalism to everything related to dravidian as if south indians are not indian but altogether a different countrymen. i simply added an image of a sculpture from 14th century rajasthan and you removed it. moreover you are trying to show as if only south indian stuff is worth while other regions are not worthy of anything. I made several reverts to yours edits pertaining to elam and dravidian languages just to let you know how it feels when someone tries to push POV as you yourself are trying in known or unknown way. I ask you to consider it again. you are making several changes to longstanding articles and even removing properly sourced information like you did to Dravida nadu. moreover, you accuse me of pushing POV while you yourself are indulged in it. --Onef9day Talk! 00:37, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent engagement in an edit war[edit]

Wangond, Rice and curry has been protected for any further edits. There is an issue of serious violation of NPOV and discussion is open to all involved in recent edit war. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Rice and curry. Since you have been involved, you are invited to cooperate in dispute resolution. You are advised to use Rice and curry's Talk Page for constructive cooperation. Do not engage in Personal attacks as you did recently by issuing several baseless warnings to others. --Onef9day Talk! 13:37, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are still relatively new, so I'll just point you to this essay. I've also raised the issue of your warning and edit at WP:NPOVN and pointed out that there may be NPOV problems with some of your other edits. Dougweller (talk) 11:04, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Irony[edit]

Your edit summary is very ironic. I'm not making a change, I'm reverting it. You however have come to make a change, so why don't you take your own advice and discuss on talk, something you still haven't done on Malaysia. If you're going to follow around my edits and revert them, do try to have better reasoning than that. In addition, please read WP:3RR. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 11:35, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have talked to you about the matter. I doubt, you have understood anything I wrote. --Wangond (talk) 11:36, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You haven't talked to me, you gave an opinion and a snippet view source. Anyway, my talkpage is fairly irrelevant. Discussion about specific articles should take place on the talkpages of those articles. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 11:48, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
How is your talk page irrelevant? You need to be stopped personally. --Wangond (talk) 11:53, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Talkpages are more for discussions about wikipedia matters, asking for input into other discussion, and behavioural issues. A tag has been placed on Chennai International Film Festival requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
