Welcome[edit]

Hello, Vegetarian, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. If you are looking for help, please do any of the following:

There are a lot of standards and policies here, but as long as you are editing in good faith, you are encouraged to be bold in updating pages. Here are a few links you might find useful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. Also, it would be a huge help if you could explain each of your edits with an edit summary. Again, welcome!

I noticed that you made an unusually large edit to the Cedarville University wiki page. While new users are encouraged to be bold, please make sure in the future that when you intend to make a large edit you discuss it on the talk page before making large changes to an article; that way, we can make changes more smoothly. Thanks for your edit, though!

Wasn't this properly cited AS a reference from the College's website?

In your edit, you copied the entire article and directly pasted it onto the page. You did not say in your entry that the text was a direct quote (which it was). Even if the quotation had been referenced the quotation would still have been a copyright violation because the entire article was copied. (Unless you obtained reprint permission from the original author, which I didn't see that you did.)

In order to avoid copyright lawsuits, Wikipedia asks that all contributions fit under the fair use justifiability. This means that quoted text needs to be designated as such, and that there needs to be justification for quoting the text. Please make sure in borrowing material from other websites that your contributions don't violate the fair use clause.

Thanks!

Copyright violation[edit]

Vegetarian, I deleted your recent addition to the Cedarville University Wikipedia page because it was a direct copy of material from the Cedarville University website. Unless you have permission from Cedarville, this is a copyright violation. If I have acted in error, I apologize. I advise you to read the Wikipedia policy on copyrights.

Copyright[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Sterling Speirn, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a direct copy from http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070220/cltu124.html?.v=13/, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.

If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Sterling Speirn and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Sterling Speirn with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Sterling Speirn.

It is also important that the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and that it follows Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at Talk:Sterling Speirn/Temp. Adoption[edit]

Hi there! Regarding your comments on my page, you can find links to userboxes on this page. You already seem to have the general idea of it down, just copy and paste the nowiki text beside the graphic. If there are any other things you are interested in, such as editing, page creating, etc., please ask away! Kntrabssi 21:06, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, if you take a look here, this should clear up any problems you are having. If not, shoot me off another message and I'll look in a little further. I hope all is going well!  :) Kntrabssi 17:20, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think Dr. Carl V. Phillips deserves an entry because, beyond his professional work, he has historical import for a decisive shift that is curently taking place within a growing segment of the human population in the West. Being oblivious to his contributions will not make Phillips any less significant historically. Maynard S. Clarkvegetarian

Note[edit]

A tag has been placed on "Carl V. Phillips", requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. EVula // talk // // 06:47, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Onechectomy[edit]

I saw you are in the Animal Rights WP and was wondering if you are against Declawing animals or Onychectomy? The userbox is located at {{User:PatPeter/User nocatdeclaw}}

User:PatPeter/User nocatdeclaw

So just copy the title as you are viewing and put it with the {{ }} and w/o the [[ ]] to your userpage. -PatPeter 18:36, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MaynardClark[edit]

Is this the same person as user:MaynardClark? If so, please read and follow our policy on using mulitple accounts. WP:SOCKS. In general, it's best to just use one account. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 20:59, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/MaynardClark, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
