Hello there. You seem to have been editing here for some time, so I'm sorry your first message should be a reversion notice. You seem to have taken some trouble to change the English spellings of Roman names in the article Julius Caesar to more "authentic" spellings. Though your effort's appreciated, English wikipedia favours the common Anglicised forms of Latin names whenever possible and whenever useful: the same forms are used overwhelmingly by modern, Anglophone scholarship, and are those most likely familiar to English readers. Thus, we have articles on Sallust, Livy, Julius Caesar, Plutarch, Julia the Younger, etcetera. If a name's immediately recognisable, readers don't have to click on a link to decipher it. Original Latin or Greek orthographies are usually left to the lead paragraph of any subject's main article. You'll find further guidance at WP:MOS and WP:ROMANS. Thank you. Manual of Style seems the core of our business here and is worth reading carefully. It's long - very long in places, and has been developed by wikipedia editors through aeons of debate, with goodwill (mostly), the odd spot of ferocious bickering, and eventual consensus. Just like some articles...

In response to your question - nothing on wikipedia is set in stone, except (maybe) that first and foremost we write for readers... well, that's probably no answer, and you needn't take my say-so for any of this. The encyclopedia has several discussion pages where such matters are thrashed out. You could try Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Classical Greece and Rome or Wikipedia:Reference desk/Humanities. I'm sure there will be other pages relevant to your query, and if I could I'd direct you to them, but after two years here, I still don't know my way around the place that well. Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
