Question: Why are edit summary's so important? It this really required to pass the RFA? King Lopez Contribs 05:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

D.R.A. Computing[edit]

Thank you Useight, I have now read though notability and draw your attention to the line "A subject is presumed to be sufficiently notable if it meets the general notability guideline below, or if it meets an accepted subject specific standard listed in the table to the right." - in the table you will find "Organizations & companies" listed as an accepted subject. Barnstar[edit]

I haven't noticed before, but by looking at your contributions you do an outstanding job on Wikipedia. You are a hard working editor. (A great Admin coach also.) So therefore I am awarding you this "Working Man's Barnstar" put it on your userpage with pride. I will also start using edit summaries on my edits. As you said that they were important. TT RfA[edit]

Kurt Weber? Whoozzat? --Dweller (talk) 17:20, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My reply here
What a pompous reason for opposing people; and what a pompous way of expressing said pomposity. Frankly, if I were running today, I'd not want his support anyway. These one-size-fits-all opposers come every so often. Sometimes, they stir up a hornet's nest. --Dweller (talk) 23:42, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

I have a question: Let's just say that I do meet all the requirements on the Wikipedia spaces, and Wikipedia talk spaces, and use all edit summary's on all my edits as you mention. But will this affect my chances on passing the RFA? I know it has been a year ago, but I am sorry for my previous behavior and I did learn from it. What do you think? Ah, I see. Next time, yes. Hopefully anyway. Rudget. 17:25, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcoming committee[edit]

Hello. I am also a member of the welcoming committee. You placed a welcome temlate on Brucepodge's page. it had no information in the actual template; you signed your name after it. Make sure that when you add a welcome template you post subst: in front of the template name but still inside the brackets. -- 224jeff6 Talk 00:23, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • What kinds of topics are envisioned? History of bowling, famous bowlers, bowling leagues, what? --Lquilter (talk) 16:21, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • My guess would be the existing articles in the Category:Bowling and its subcategories, and any new articles that might be found to meet the extant notability guidelines. John Carter (talk) 17:01, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • The main things I envisioned in the project were, as aforementioned, improvement and expansion of articles in the category, as well as the creation of new articles with expanded coverage of current and previous professional bowlers and related topics. – Alex43223 T | C | E 07:10, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About 71.61.6.190[edit]

I read this, and thought you should know of the ip's activity: from what I've seen, it generally vandalises or does unexplained edits and immediately contributes in good faith, then repeats the irritating behaviour. What to if a person dodges a block in this manner? Please reply below, as I'm watching this page. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 05:27, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let me admit that going through a disruptive user's history of edits is really a pain. Could you, perhaps, give the anon a severe last warning (what have you) and we'll call it a day? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 05:36, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the welcome. I chose to deleted the complicated and confusing bulk of information included in that welcome. No offense to you. I hope you understand. I'm reading some of the pages from the links on the welcome block to help guide me. Again, thank you.-The Smoking Nun (talk) 23:05, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Useight, I reverted your suggestion on the reference desk that someone scratch his Seborrhoeic dermatitis. It’s not a very good idea to give people advice like this where medical questions are involved. Even if it’s a non critical condition and the advise is not likely to harm the OP, at the very least replies like this often cause a furor on the talk page! It’s always better to be safe than sorry in any case. Thanks, --S.dedalus (talk) 06:47, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:BioLuigi1.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BioLuigi1.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:30, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In a recent edit to the page 2008, you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, you can ask me on my talk page or you can visit the help desk. Thank you. Jons63 (talk) 17:17, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize if you think I am talking down to you, it was not my intention. I thought status as an admin was no big deal and that they were just regular editors like me who were entrusted with, if not used properly, very harmful tools. If you have a problem with the template language I used to let you know what I did and why I did it then please work to get the language of the standard template changed. Redirect of Neopets Faeries[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Neopets Faeries, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Neopets Faeries is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Neopets Faeries, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Ryan Higa[edit]

You recently deleted my stub on Ryan Higa. My guess is that I presented it in a poor manner, but the reason listed was that this was insignificant. I disagree completely. For proof google nigahiga (his youtube profile name since that is where he garnered fame) and you get 337,000 hits. I fail to see how something that big is irrelevant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kkbb087 (talkcontribs) 22:58, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
