Transom knot[edit]

Thanks for your recent additions to the transom knot article. I have identified some references that can be used to clarify the article. In particular that, as generally shown, it is based on a strangle knot but has the appearance/arrangement of a constrictor in relation to the upper spar.

Regarding the comment that Ashley illustrated it "various ways" I was only able to see that he changed the handedness of the knots in the four entries I was able to find, but didn't base any on an actual constrictor. (#385, #1255 are based on left-handed (S) strangle knots and #1182, #3372 are based on right (Z)) Although you removed this comment from the article in your recent edits, I'd be curious if you are aware of any other entries that show or discuss the transom in ABOK. If so, please feel free to add them to the infobox! --Dfred (talk) 16:29, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. The transom knot article is better off for the references and the edit. You are correct and I was wrong to have stated that Ashley showed the knot based on both; my confusion, not his.--Umdolofia (talk) 21:02, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
