I'd like to thank you Ugur Basak for either supporting, opposing, commenting, nominating, reading, editing, promoting and/or anything else that you may have done for my successful request for adminship (I've broken the one thousand sysop barrier!); I'm thanking you for getting involved, and for this I am very grateful. I hope to be able to serve Wikipedia more effectively with my new tools and that we can continue to build our free encyclopedia, for knowledge is power, but only wisdom is liberty. Please do feel free to get in touch if you feel you can improve me in any way; I will be glad to listen to all comments. Again, thanks 8)             —Xyrael / 12:09, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Winhunter's RfA thanks[edit]

Hi Ugur_Basak, thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which was closed as successful today with a finaly tally of (56/0/3). I will be very careful at first to avoid any mistakes. Please feel free to leave a message in my talk page if you have any comments/suggestions about me in the future. Once again, thank you! --WinHunter (talk) 09:15, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Burak18/82.168.59.236[edit]

Hi there. This "Burak 18" who also obviously signs in as "82.168.59.236" should have his IP blocked again. He always presents incorrect information into articles and makes no positive contribution. Rigobert Song

Hi Rigobert, i want to be more good faithed, but i guess you are correct. As far as we do not prove he is using this, actually those, ip(s) we can not be sure. In wikipedia sometimes procedures work slowly, but that's the policy and also more accurate thing. I started a case before your message already, they'll respond today or tomarrow. By the way, i've an advice there is WP:3RR rule on wikipedia. While trying to turn the page to the un-vandalised version don't get in trouble with that 3RR thing. I also report this user on 3RR page. Cheers and happy editing --Ugur Basak 20:05, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there and thanks for the news. I hate having to do this to somebody but its just frustrating fixing what he does all the time. Normally, it wouldn't bother me as much but the Wikipedia articles for Galatasaray, the Milli Takim, and other Turkish football articles are high hits in search engines and I hate the idea of people coming across inaccurate information. Thanks again. Rigobert Song
Actually i didn't want to get in this Galatasaray and especially Suat Kaya problems, but Burak18 is trying to add inaccurate information as you say. Adding rumoured transfers and suat will be the galataasaray coach will misinformate peoples. Take care --Ugur Basak 20:20, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no i'm not[edit]

Hi Amoruso, can you check this 3RR problem. Cheers --Ugur Basak 12:34, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, i guess that you are an admin:) --Ugur Basak 12:38, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
but i put something to help you nevertheless :) one helps another. Amoruso 12:40, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Amoruso thanks anyway:) I report that user 4 or 5 times, and i give-up reverting his vandal-edits already, currently article is vandalised and reverted to an older version:) Thanks again --Ugur Basak 12:44, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Reviewed. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 12:47, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I thank you Samir, but this is his 4th 3rr in a week check this case :) Thanks again --Ugur Basak 12:51, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wasn't aware of that one. Might I suggest that, if his editing is grossly not in keeping with consensus, and if he does not discuss at all on the talk page, a better strategy would be a WP:RfC as opposed to 3RR. This would allow more definitive decisions on article content and editing. Thanks -- Samir धर्म 13:02, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Samir, thanks for your advice. As you say it may be better. I've a question, i guess you mean Request comment on users part. It'll cause some work for me, but i hope it'l be the solution. Thanks --Ugur Basak 18:45, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

JPD's RfA[edit]

RE: Move request[edit]

Hi Xyrael, some users are trying to move a Turkish-biograpy article to a different name. After first move i've write a message and revert back but then another user moved it back and also make this change to make impossible for a user to revert it back:) can you move back Ferhat Cokmus to Ferhat Çökmüş Cheers --Ugur Basak 08:37, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can understand your situation, but I think it's probably best if you discuss it with the person who moved it before taking forceful action. Perhaps you should leave a message on their talk page? Please feel free to contact me again if you need any more help; thanks. —Xyrael / 16:47, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

Hi Khoikhoi, some users are love moving article names to funny anglicized names not knowing some become funny in their native languages. I've seen that you revert some of them:) As a respect, i write a message to that guy but he doesn't seem to respond :) And today i checked it's already reverted by another user. Cheers --Ugur Basak 08:32, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Selam Uğur...or shall I say, "Ugur". ;-) Yes, I've indeed been reverting. :) In this case it looks like we might have to go to requested moves. Personally, I think people take this "Use English" policy a bit too far. For example, one of the reasons to move Gökçeada and Bozcaada to "Imbros and Tenedos" was because the Turkish letters are "undesirable in a title in english Wikipedia", but from who's point of view? Anyways, good luck on getting the page moved back. Please let me know when you start the survey. Kolay gelsin! —Khoikhoi 02:43, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Selam Khoikhoi, i was too lazy to start a survey, but an admin has already reverted without a request. May be he saw my messages, i don't know, but there is no problem now. Actually Gökçeada and Bozcaada is more accurate names because they are in Turkey's terriotary, anyway it's a different case. When i see "Kolay gelsin" i remember a turkish saying about "Kolay gelsin", if someone says you "Kolay gelsin" in a difficult situation, otherone says "Kolaysa başına gelsin" literally "if it's easy it come upon your head" means "if it's easy it come upon yourself". Kolay gelsin --Ugur Basak 13:28, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad there's no more problem. I agree that Gökçeada and Bozcaada is better too. Wait, I don't understand...what does "if it's easy it come upon yourself" mean? Besides that, your English is excellent. :) Take it easy. —Khoikhoi 01:16, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What kind of excellent is it, do you mean good or bad:) Ok, "Kolaysa, başına gelsin": baş means head and sometimes used as yourself, himself etc., "başına gel-mek" is "to encounter a bad situation" or "to undertake a task" and all this sentence means "If it's easy, you encounter that bad situation". Cheers --Ugur Basak 08:27, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, now I get it! BTW, there is no "bad excellent" in English. :p —Khoikhoi 08:32, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiprojectTurkey[edit]

I was just wondering how one can become part of the 'wikiproject' of a particular country (or a subject).. Is there some kind of a process or an approval thing? I want to join WikiprojectTurkey and wondering if you can help me show how (maybe it is very simple, I don't know:)).. I can particularly help with copy-editing, just check out my user page.. I am new to Wikipedia (couple of weeks), so I am just trying to feel my way around... Baristarim 04:12, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Barış, there is no procedure for approving membership:) just add your name to this list. Currently, project is like a dead project. We need more, editors willing to help:) Take care --Ugur Basak 09:38, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Turkish Airlines Flight 1476[edit]

Thanks for all the hard work you have put into Turkish Airlines Flight 1476. It is refreshing to see such a well-cited article, especially when its mentioned on the current events portal. Keep up the excellent work, DRK 22:41, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks DRK, event is really complicated. There are a few teories about hijacker(s), i'll try to birng it to a level before i sleep:) --Ugur Basak 22:46, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

3RR/Sock user[edit]

To be honest, I don't think there is much that can be done if he is repeatedly creating new accounts, of has access to lots of IPs. The best I can say is that we repeatedly block any new cases and hope he gets bored. If they're accounts, we can block indefinately; with ip addresses I'm less keen on doing so, but happy to put in month long ones if it stops all this.

I don't suppose his IP's have got similar numbers? If they do, we could put in a 'range block' that would stop all ip's within a certain set of numbers. --Robdurbar 09:51, 4 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, its an annoying one. There isn't really enough going on for semi-protection, though if content disoutes continue then full protection is a decent option for the Galatasary page.
IP range blocks appear to be more complex than I realised and are a little beyond me I think; my only suggestion at the moment is that I could keep on blocking the socks until it stops (tho at the moment my internet appears to be very slow!) Alternatively, you could post all the relevant info (with diffs etc) at the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard and see if anyone else has any ideas on how to help. --Robdurbar 09:04, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well I've gone through and blocked all the IP addresses that he has used up to date for 6 months. Let's see how many he's got... --Robdurbar 11:15, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ugur Basak, unfortunately difficult situation. I'd agree with Rob's strategy that reversion may be the easiest solution until he gets bored? Sprotection if it picks up? Perhaps a better idea will come up on ANI, wish I had better suggestions. Cheers -- Samir धर्म 01:06, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Very well, I'm happy action has been taken :) CanbekEsen 01:19, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the puppetmaster's block to indefinite, and sprotected the page again. Apart from that I don't know what else can be done to stop the troll. He seems to have no problem with IPs.--Konst.able 07:21, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have put his pages on the watchlist of User:VoABot II, and on the watchlist of the counter-vandal IRC channel that is used by a lot of WP:RC patrollers as well as User:Tawkerbot2 and User:AntiVandalBot. Hopefully that will help out.--Konst.able 07:51, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked him yet again, he seems to be bored enough to actually create accounts 4 days early. He'll get sick of the trolling eventually.--Konst.able 20:55, 12 October 2006 (UTC) (not logged in)[reply]

Re your message in el:wiki, I'll do it with pleasure. Kindly tell me which syllable is stressed (accented) in Safranbolu to rename/move the page. I suspect it is in the end (Safranbolú)? Also, it's -bolou, not -volou, right? In that case I'll have to move it to Σαφρανμπολού (notice accent in the end and composite b-sound with mp).•NikoSilver 20:54, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help Niko:) b-sound is really interesting. I try to find it but couldn't. Does that sound's usage low on Greek language? What is the difference of ú. Is it some effect to lengthen u sound? --Ugur Basak 21:23, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ha! Greek language doesn't specialise in what it calls barbaric (hard) sounds. (Actually, etymologically, Barbarian is someone who's tongue makes an incomprehensible to Greeks bar-bar sound!) We don't have B, we don't differentiate it from MP or MB or plain B sounds either. The same we don't have D, (we write NT) and do not differentiate it from NT or ND or plain D. Every Greek word can be pronounced either way, but usually it is the softest (mp and nt) sounds that prevail.
For stress, no it's not lengthened or somthing. I'll give you an example: The English word democrátic versus the French pronounciation democratíque. The first has a stress in A and the second in I. Greek language needs that accent where the stress is, to show the reader where to stress, because we generally use more vowels and less consonants. •NikoSilver 21:52, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your brief explanation on Greek language. İyi geceler(καλή νύχτα [i can see stresses]). --Ugur Basak 22:21, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Burak18[edit]

Hi Aecis, that Turkey football vandal seems to be your new interest:) (S)He is really highly motivated on this vandalising thing, he has been vandalising for about 6 months. Btw, thanks for your interest. --Ugur Basak 11:19, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies for my late reply. I came across Burak18 some time ago, via Ajax Amsterdam and Netherlands national football team, which are both in my watchlist. It took a while before the thought of widespread vandalism dawned on me, and it was Konst.able who first mentioned the name of Burak18 to me. I now try to keep track of his sockpuppets as much as possible on Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Burak18. If you come across a new sock, could you add that to the category as well? Thanks a lot for reverting the vandalism :) Aecis Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984. 00:02, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No problem Aecis:) He seems to revert these pages everyday, here is his last sock User:Rickysdjunk, i've added it to sock category. You can block it. Actually there is a new, sock user he is working on a different Turkey football club article. Do you want me to show you evidences, if it's necessary. He is revert warring with a user with different user names:) --Ugur Basak 11:51, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please do. Banned users have lost their right to edit wikipedia, so their socks should be indefinitely blocked as well. Aecis Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984. 13:48, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone through Fenerbahçe S.K. (thanks for the heads up), but I don't see a clear link with Burak18. How about a Request for CheckUser? Aecis Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984. 23:42, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Indon, i need your advice on a GA candidate about referencing. I've been contributing to Turkish Airlines Flight 1476, and add it to GA candidate. A user has reviewed it, and written that MLA style referencing. Do you think it's better to use MLA style, or don't change them. Btw, all references are from news articles and 3 of them goes dead. What can i do, try to replace them or don't change them too, because it's difficult to replace all of them. I've read Wikipedia:Citing sources What to do when a reference link "goes dead", part but i'm not sure. --Ugur Basak 09:58, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll help you that in the article. — Indon (reply) — 10:19, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your comment Indon:) --Ugur Basak 11:20, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Your welcome. However, I think the lead section is too thin. Expand a little bit, or add only 1 paragraph to summarize the article. Perhaps you can add possible motives or about the hijacker there. — Indon (reply) — 11:32, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Indon, although article's reviewer has passed the article as GA. I've expanded the lead, and write a more define explanation to image of route. Thanks for your interest.--Ugur Basak 22:51, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your request on Wikiproject architecture[edit]

I left a reply to your request on the project page - do you have a photograph of the interior of the mosque's dome and vaults - it will be easier to say what type of vault it is then. Also, if you create any other architecture articles, you might consider adding them to Portal:Architecture/New article announcements. Cheers. --Mcginnly | Natter 12:58, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Mcginnly, unfortunately i don't have any other photos. I've taken it in my home town, whenever i go there i will take interior parts photos:) I like taking architectural photos and writing about them but sometimes it's difficult to find exact terms in English. I've written a few articles, in 1-2 months. Can i add them to new article announcements. Thanks again for your interest. --Ugur Basak 13:09, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'd include any that you have added since the 21st October. --Mcginnly | Natter 13:34, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cooperation board launched[edit]

A new (and overdue) Greek and Turkish cooperation and notification board has been launched here. Stop by, have a look and sound off! Cheers! Baristarim 07:19, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, what's up.. I also created the board above to make more progress on resolving disputes and to concentrate efforts to do so. That way there will at least be a some sort of "reference point" for a range of contentious issues. As for WP Turkey, I am working on completely overhauling it, I put a major edit tag on the project page. When I first joined Wiki you had told me that it was no longer functioning, or at least not fulfilling its potential. That sucks, since most efforts are individual, even though there is nothing wrong with that, many articles lack neccessary uniformization. So hopefully all of those will be addressed. It will take some time though, I first started with templates, hopefully the new WPTR will be up and running in a few days.. I was also thinking of an Armenian-Turkish Coop Board for sometime in the future, but first I will see how GR-TR Board will work :)) Baristarim 20:04, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, maybe you are right.. I have nominated the big articles and I don't think I will nominate anything else for now. I just thought that it would be easier to get GA than FA, and at least it would be beneficial to have an input from outsiders of what they think about those articles.. But maybe you are right.. Baristarim 00:21, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking about peer review too, but it also apperead to me that it wasn't working very good. I am just trying to get an idea of how the GA system works, hopefully some of them will be good enough to get GA, or at least to be put on hold long enough to be able to address any concerns. But if they delist them, it's ok, we will try again later :) Baristarim 00:47, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
U were right, most of the nominations didn't go through.. But at least now I have an idea what to expect.. Baristarim 12:36, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question about a Turkish text[edit]

Hi, Ugur! Could you help me out? I have just reverted two edits by an IP, here and here. From what I could make out (merhaba istanbul da yasiyorum, 31 yasindayim kendime ... 180 cm 80 kg ... Sex ... sex ... "sex", the phone number and the e-mail address), it seems as though someone was desperately looking for sex, so I wanted to drop a note about this on his user talk page. But my skills in Turkish aren't what they used to be (i.e. non-existent ;), so I'm not sure if it was really a request for sex. Could you help me out on this one? Aecis Dancing to electro-pop like a robot from 1984. 19:50, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aecis, i'm sorry for this late reply. I'll translate it: "hi i live in Istanbul, i'm 31 year old. I look for ... 180 cm 80 kg ... Sex ... Sex" I guess he is just a pervert looking for a girl:) Cheers --Ugur Basak 11:35, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:AnkaragucuLogo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AnkaragucuLogo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:36, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:AnkaragucuLogo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AnkaragucuLogo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Unspecified source for Image:AnkaragucuLogo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AnkaragucuLogo.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

Fair use rationale for Image:DiyarbakirsporLogo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DiyarbakirsporLogo.gif.

Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 19:10, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:DiyarbakirsporLogo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DiyarbakirsporLogo.gif.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. Orphaned non-free image (Image:GaziantepsporLogo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GaziantepsporLogo.gif. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Sukur Hakan's ancestry[edit]

I have noticed that long ago there was a refference concerning Sukur´s Albanian parents or relatives. I have also dealt with this tipe of information in soccer forums in the net. In Hakan Sukur discussion page there are refferences regarding his given name and family name. As far as I understand the name Hakan is certainly Turk and as per his family name Şükür/ Shyqiri, I guess that is more related to Islam than to Turkishness. Arabs and Berbers have the word "shukry" or "chukry" which means "cherished" and "shokran /shukran" for "thanks". Albanians were one of the prominent people under the Ottomite Empire and most Muslim Albanians bear Turkish names and even family names seem Turkish, although ethnic Albanian. I remember that once, in the Italian RAI TV, after a game clash with Igli Tare, the Albanian stricker, the Italian journalists seeking for tabloid news were pointing that a sort of "Balkanic War" had erupted between these two players. Here is where Hakan commented his Albano-kossovar ancestry, dennying any sort of animosity. I also remember that in Hakan Sukur Wikipedia´s article there was a source in Turkish (or Albanian, I am not really sure ...) that pointed out Şükür´s Kossovar descent, but it was erased. I assume that Turkish fanatics do not like very much when Albanians claim the best player in all Turkish Soccer History to be one of them. Personally, I do not see this as something wrong. Lefter Küçükandoniŷadi was of Greek descent but proudly defended the Turkish colours with honor, the same way Hakan did.Periptero (talk) 00:45, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Support for deleting the Category:Anti-Armenianism[edit]

Will you support my arguement for the deletion of the Category:Anti-Armenianism that I put forward on May 1, 2009?

It is very subjective and even racist as it puts every person who questions the Armenian genocide, such as prominent academicians, who are not racist or personally against Armenian people or Armenia as an entity, along with assasins and militants.

Thank you

Turkish Airlines Flight 1476 GA Sweeps: On Hold[edit]

I have reviewed Turkish Airlines Flight 1476 for GA Sweeps to determine if it still qualifies as a Good Article. In reviewing the article I have found several issues, which I have detailed here. AfD nomination of Cihan Can[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Cihan Can. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cihan Can. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:03, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:VestelmanisasporLogo.gif[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:VestelmanisasporLogo.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:27, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Turkish Airlines Flight 1476 for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Turkish Airlines Flight 1476 is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Turkish Airlines Flight 1476 until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Jetstreamer Talk 19:18, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Cihan Can has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Hi. I was wondering if you'd be interested in setting up Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey), based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). Now it's not a contest in itself, it's designed to motivate people to inspire others to improve content and build something which demonstrates the hard work going into the country which is visible. The focus is more on quality improvements but new articles are welcome too. Eventually a Turkish National Contest could be created to fuel it, like Wikipedia:Awaken the Dragon, in which contestants can choose to keep the Amazon vouchers themselves to buy their own books for more articles or put them into book fund to help editors further improve Turkish-related topics by giving them the books they want. It will begin though as purely an improvement drive. If interested, or you think anybody else might be interested, alert them and sign up on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey talk page at the bottom. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:48, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
