January 2010[edit]

This is the only warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing their websites from appearing on Wikipedia. ALI nom nom 01:39, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not you again. Just as well- spam accounts can be blocked on sight. Sockpuppet accounts too. ALI nom nom 01:40, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for spam, advertising, or promotion. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Thanks for the help. As soon as we are unblocked I will edit the pages as you have noted.}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

Spamming pages is never appropriate, and no matter how much you feel your website should be spread around, Wikipedia is not the place to do it. The website is being blacklisted and any addition of links to it will be reverted immediately by some of Wikipedia's automated bots. ALI nom nom 02:03, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sheesh... Wikipedia is not about competition over external links. The breed standards for the CFA and TICA appear to be posted next to each other on each page. Other than that, the decision whether to include a link boils down to the info it contains. And spamming links doesn't exactly help your case.
But I've thought of another solution. It would be perfectly fine if you took the information in your pages and incorporated it into the main article, then referenced the page. That way the information and the link are both included for the reader. Would you agree to that? I can promise you won't be doing the work alone. :) ALI nom nom

Ah! So you're saying you were try to add the standard and update the links there? I see... the problem was you weren't working in the normal area for the standards, you were adding it to the "External links" section, which is where spam is regularly posted. Take a look at this edit summary to see how I arrived at the wrong conclusion. Gah! Sorry!

I'll drop User:Mentifisto a message asking for your unblock. In the meanwhile, please let me help you with the editing!

If you click the "edit this page" tab at the top of an article, you'll see the syntax laid out before you. Around the top of articles about cat breeds you should see an infobox like this: (this is the one for Birman)

  • {{Infobox cat breed
  • | name = Birman
  • | image = Birmanstrofe.jpg
  • | imagecaption = A sealpoint Birman's face
  • | altname = Sacred Birman, Sacred Cat Of Burma
  • | country = Thought to be [[Burma]]
  • | cfastd = http://www.cfainc.org/breeds/profiles/birman.html
  • | acfastd = http://www.acfacat.com/breeds/standards/birmanstd.html
  • | ticastd = http://www.tica.org/pdf/standards/bistd.pdf
  • | ccastd = http://www.cca-afc.com/en/files/Birman.pdf
  • | acfstd = http://www.acf.asn.au/Standards/Birman.htm
  • | fifestd = http://www.fifeweb.org/wp/breeds/std/sbi_std.html
  • }}

The "cfastd" through "fifestd" rows are the links to the breed standards on different sites. So what you want to do is replace the old link in the "ticastd" row with the current one. Hope that helps, you should be unblocked soon. Sorry! ALI nom nom 03:02, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've lifted the block, per ALI's request. Cheers. -GTBacchus(talk) 03:14, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ooh. Yeah, you want to be careful- edits like this really do lean to the spamming side. ALI nom nom 00:34, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
