ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]

Hello, Thomas Mulligan. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for December 15[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of years in film, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Cannonball Run (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:23, 15 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you remove the category from the article? MartinezMD (talk) 00:45, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Because "Best Makeup Academy Award winners" doesn't belong in the Categories page of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", that's why. --Thomas Mulligan (talk) 01:05, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Because it didn't win or because it's not a category? I don't understand.MartinezMD (talk) 01:14, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The latter. --Thomas Mulligan (talk) 01:18, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I see now, Category:Best Makeup Academy Award winners vs Category:Films that won the Academy Award for Best Makeup. Both were listed. MartinezMD (talk) 01:30, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

So, will Category:Best Makeup Academy Award winners be deleted? --Thomas Mulligan (talk) 01:33, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted my revert, so it's out of Button. I don't know if anyone has it on another article. MartinezMD (talk) 01:48, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Academy Award for Best Directing[edit]

I see you seem to be on a mission to change this everywhere. Is there a conversation on the talk page of Wikiproject Film relevant to this move? The correct name is "Academy Award for Best Directing" not "Best Director Academy Award". It's just not its official name, more over: Wikipedia:If it ain't broke, don't fix it -- you're making a lot of busywork for something that doesn't need to be done. If there's no current discussion about this change I'll be happy to start one. Cheers. JesseRafe (talk) 17:37, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Haven't you seen the Academy Award for Best Director page? --Thomas Mulligan (talk) 17:40, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
At that article it clearly states "officially known as the Academy Award for Best Directing" which is why the articles that you are changing used that term. You are welcome to add your input at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film#Best Directing Academy Award and related changes. OTOH you should stop changing the term at any new articles as that can be seen as WP:DISRUPTIVE editing. Your cooperation in this will be appreciated. MarnetteD|Talk 17:50, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I second MarnetteD’s warning regarding your edits, which also seem disruptive to me. I strongly suggest you discuss and gain consensus before unilaterally embarking on mass changes. I also note many are in the process of being reverted. Jusdafax (talk) 15:35, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely agree with MarnetteD's comments above. Please stop changing "Directing" now, it is WP:DISRUPTIVE. Thank you, David J Johnson (talk) 16:10, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely disruptive editing. Making changes like this will be reverted and cause other editors more work. If you want to contribute please take your arguments to the discussion page suggested above. Robynthehode (talk) 22:52, 3 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not Broken[edit]

When I reverted you on the Take 6 article, I mentioned WP:NOTBROKEN. Did you read it? Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:26, 3 March 2018 (UTC) I know they're not broken. I just don't want them to go to the Academy Award page, because it might be redirected to the Academy Awards page.[reply]

Hi. On two occasions, you have gone against a long-held consensus used in the above page - namely, that piping cannot be used to divert a person's name to another Wikipedia entry. Piping in the Deaths pages is used for disambiguation purposes only. The correct procedure is already in place; the Patrick Doyle (drummer) link already redirects to Veronica Falls, and that's the way it's been done in Deaths pages for a long time. If you believe this is not right, please see my section on the Deaths Talk page referring to this. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 18:28, 7 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

March 2018[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at The Quiet Man. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Please read your Talk page on this subject and stop adding incorrect titles. Thank you David J Johnson (talk) 12:14, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Thomas, I saw your edit removing the category for Kobe Bryant. I wanted to make you aware of a discussion I started here regarding your rational for the removal. You have a point, but I don't know which category would be more appropriate for Kobe. He certainly deserves to be included in one since he did win an Oscar for that category, but he doesn't belong in the directors category either. Anyway, I wanted to let you know and hopefully we can come up with an appropriate solution. - PaulT+/C 00:23, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe Kobe produced it. --Thomas Mulligan (talk) 10:52, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Redlinks[edit]

Please read WP:REDLINK. Redlinks are fine if they are valid possible articles (i.e. articles that don't exist yet, but should). They help other editors identify missing potential articles and encourage the creation of these missing articles. Also, if the articles do get created in the future, then the relevant links are already in place, such that other editors don't need to go around finding these relevant articles to link to the new article. Please don't remove all these valid redlinks. Bennv3771 (talk) 18:10, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at The Quiet Man, you may be blocked from editing. You have been warned multiple times that you are adding incorrect Academy Award titles and also overlinking. Please stop now. Thank you. David J Johnson (talk) 13:30, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You are still adding unnecessary links, such as in the Saul Bass article. Please take note of the comments here and on the reversions to your changes. Thank you, David J Johnson (talk) 14:14, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

July 2018[edit]

This is another warnings regarding WP:NOTBROKEN. Stop making unnecessary changes. It is not helping the articles. - Gothicfilm (talk) 22:12, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

August 2018[edit]

Despite all the previous warnings about WP:NOTBROKEN, you are now making more needless changes, Academy Award to Academy Awards. Stop. Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 14:30, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for September 7[edit]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Christian Cooke (sound engineer), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Lindsay (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

October 2018[edit]

You are still adding incorrect names to a multitude of film articles, as you recently did to The Wild Bunch, amongst numerous others. Please read the comments above relating to WP:NOTBROKEN and stop these unnecessary changes. Thank you, David J Johnson (talk) 19:32, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Begging on my knees[edit]

I'm so sorry about that! I want another chance at Wikipedia! Please! --Thomas Mulligan (talk) 23:08, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas Mulligan. You need to be specific if you wish to be unblocked. "I'm so sorry about that" is not a reason to be unblocked. You need to address questions such as: If you are unblocked, what would you do the same or differently in your editing and communication? What are your thoughts about the warnings that your fellow editors have left on your talk page? (See Wikipedia:Guide to appealing blocks if you would like more detailed guidance.) Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 23:20, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know disruptive editing was getting on everyone's nerves! I promise to obey the rules from now on! --Thomas Mulligan (talk) 23:22, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly, that is not a good enough reason. You have been warned multiple times about your disruptive editing, which will take editors some time to put right, and have not answered the host of warnings on your Talk page. Wikipedia operates by consensus and you have totally ignored this. I would urge the community to uphold Paul Erik's actions. David J Johnson (talk) 11:05, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
