Wikproject Bioware

Yo hi Jade, yes hi it's me, 'shock and horror' and all that crap I'm am back (yet again). As the title says this here thread is about the good ol' wikiproject we created...then did shit all with. We now have a amazing nine members and as far as I can see you haven't done anything with the page at all since I was last here. And since you probably must have completed Mass Effect 2 five times now I was expecting some more work being put into it but there isn't (maybe the whole ME2 thing is still going on, is it?). Sorry about that small rant but as we have new peps we must show them that we are doing something. If I can do something I will but I seriously doubt I can, the last time I did serious editing was last autumn. See ya, and oh yeah, the email is still freakin' broken. 'The Ninjalemming' 11:55, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi Jade and Ninja; I'm assuming most of you are dealing with real life instead of spending much time editing and such (as am I)? The Mass Effect 2 page is, in my opinion, not as well written as it was last year. I'll get editing on that article sometime soon.
As for Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening, I have edited the article and added a Plot section to it; I will work on a Characters (companions) list as well. If any of you can get that started, that would be great.
-- Kilkia123 (talk) 02:54, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
nice job, keep it up. I haven't checked the Mass Effect 2 page at all yet, so I'm gonna have to trust you on that one; make sure it gets that the good ol' featured status =P And yes about the real life stuff. (Although I reckon you could argue Wikipedia is part of real life in some way, but then again I would still disagree probably, I donno). 'The Ninjalemming' 13:07, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

Dashboard

Just coming to check as you like to have everything to kill vandals's with (don't forget about the thread above!) but do you have the user dashboard? Well it's not really a user thing as admin's use it but Xeno said it was fine. It looks like this, it really helps, though I always forget it is there. Maybe you could also checkout this, another admin based thing I stole with the consent of Xeno. Knowing you, you already have them. 'The Ninjalemming' 14:20, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

Excuse me

Please may you help me create a new account, i've got no clue on what to do or even where to start! so if it wouldn't be too much if you gave me a bit help, please?--78.144.106.72 (talk) 18:16, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Passing through Wikipedia to do some research. I'll help you out, but the simplicity of this question, the fact that you came to me specifically for help and the similarity of your IP address to a known sockmaster's IPs means I'm going to request an admin take a look at this, see what they make of it. My sincere apologies if I'm being overly suspicious. As for your question, simply click on the "Log in/sign-up" button in the top right hand corner of any page on the site. Also, every edit you make as an IP has a box above the edit window giving you a link to creating an account and I can't see how you could miss that, hence my suspicion. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:31, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Possible sock?

{{adminhelp}} See the above post for my reasoning. Is it a sock account? I don't have the time right now to find an active checkuser (if one's even needed (the other Doughnuthead socks didn't need one)) and I don't want to file a sockpuppet report directly as that would be biting harshly if this genuinely is a confused newbie. Thanks for the assistance. /retreats back into research --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:31, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

IP's on this range have posted on your talk page before; sockpuppetry appears obvious. I have rangeblocked the set of IPs for a month. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 18:46, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Note to everyone

Hopefully I'm nearly finished with that pesky thing known as real life, so I'll be able to edit more frequently and get around to answering everyone's posts here rather than the odd one or two. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 18:31, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Yay! I was wondering why you were not editing as much recently.....--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 23:35, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
And by 'nearly' he means nowhere near. *tumbleweed blows by* look, this page is so deserted it's turned into one awesome western 'The Ninjalemming' 20:17, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Adopting SkywalkerX2

I joined Wikipedia in 2009 of June and my articles have constantly been rejected so I would like to know if you would consider in adopting me.I would like to learn how to defeat vandalism and to brush up on my article skills, and how to make my user name a link. ((SkywalkerX2}}

Just as a note to you, User:Thejadefalcon is currently inactive. You may wish to seek another user during this time, as we have little idea of whether this inactivity is short or long term. Hope this helps, I will drop by on your talk page for a few little tips though! --Taelus (talk) 23:43, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Reviewer granted

You have been granted the 'reviewer' userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. –xenotalk 13:32, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.

We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.

We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.

If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 22:56, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Missing?

Just noted that you are on the Missing Wikipedians page. At the very least "made their last edit on August 25, 2010" is out of date. Regards, 220 of Borg 17:57, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Heh. That's really kind of sweet. I do pop in from time to time, but my only editing is when I see things that need it while searching for my own thing. I simply don't have the time to deal with the site any more, unfortunately. Combined with a depression that's gotten steadily worse since a few months before I stopped being active, I never even got around to actually making a mention of what happened to me. I've considered coming back from time to time, but with my impending promotion to moderator of [SteamGifts http://www.steamgifts.com/], I don't think I'll ever be as active as I once was. If I do, it may even be under a different username, to get away from the garbage I found myself subjected to on a regular basis, like the people using this site like Facebook but I couldn't get away from because I was too kind to tell them to sod off. Heh. Give me some time. I'll let you know if I should be kept on that list or not. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 21:41, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Hello there, now I know that your not entirely active here anymore, I was letting you know there is currently a ban discussion for Doughnuthead over at the Administrators noticeboard. I was wondering if you wanted to have a say seeing your run ins with him. I'll update you if you don't reply in the next 2 days. Cheers.--RedBullWarrior (talk) 15:38, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Questions from...

Season's greetings! Okay, so I went absent for a long time I hope this hasn't phased you in any way. I'm looking for something to do is there any areas where you can direct me (such as a list of articles for clean up) in the anime and video games projects?? I'm usually bored and looking for something to do here ever since I finished DKC2 Also how do I create a template? I want one for my userpage. NarSakSasLee (talk) 12:23, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

Nope, I'm fine. In fact, it's probably a good thing that you didn't show up for a while. My life got a bit of an upheaval and it's messed up my editing abilities for a short time. Mostly fine now though. Anyway, hi! If you want, I can search for the anime WikiProject, but since I know where it is, here's the video games lists so far. This category contains pages marked for clean-up. This page, on the other hand, allows you to click on any of the importance or quality rating and be given links to all of them (though, as far as I can see, it's sadly impossible to pick both the importance and quality, so if you want to work on High-importance stubs, you'll need to search around for them). Secondly, exactly what sort of template are you looking for? Are you looking for a userbox, a page to transclude to the userpage (meaning that all of the coding is on a different page, thus tidying up the page a bit) or do you mean you want something like my new userpage? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 12:43, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi, well, i just hope your okay now with your life. As for the template I was think something like those at the bottom of articles. I want shortcuts, personalised of course, so I can quickly navigate to other articles, wikiprojects and clean up lists or catagories or even people. I didn't realise that userboxes were proper templates too. As for your userpage -- its far too complex for me because there is probably so much code that my brain may get frazzled. Yeah and I probably want them "transcluded" (such big words for a simple task!) how do I go about doing it?. NarSakSasLee (talk) 13:07, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
What the...? Damn it! Sorry about the wait. I had responded about an hour or two after your question but the edit clearly didn't go through for some reason. (grumbling) Okay, let me see if I can remember what I'd said... First off, it's just a simple matter of doing this ("{{uaa|nb}}"). That's the most simple way to add a template. However, transcluding does have a few problems. If an alteration is made to the page being transcluded, that alteration will appear on all the pages it is being transcluded to. This is sometimes helpful (e.g. it allows me to see your responses here on my talk page). However, if a vandal attacks the page, it you may end up with a swear word on a couple of thousand pages, say. Hence, substition is sometimes used, like so ("{{subst:uaa|nb}}"). Depending on what the template is, you may want to transclude, you may want to substitute. It's complex, but you'll probably get the hang of it quickly enough. Anyway, as for the template, I'll create it for you and then tell you what I did (that'd be the easiest thing to do). Give me a bullet point list of everything you want in the template (and if you want them in any particular grouping or if that's left up to my judgement). I... err... think that's everything I'd said... --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 01:40, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Update: "This page, on the other hand, allows you to click on any of the importance or quality rating and be given links to all of them (though, as far as I can see, it's sadly impossible to pick both the importance and quality, so if you want to work on High-importance stubs, you'll need to search around for them)." All WikiProject using this system have been updated and you now can crossreference quality and importance (though it takes you outside of Wikipedia to do so). --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:29, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I have a few Qs I was hoping to get help with:

  • what template should I use for adding references to articles? In real life, I am most familiar with APA style and want to use that if possible
  • what gallery template do you recommend?
  • what templates should I use to add "citation/source/reference is needed" to a claim I think doesn't make sense?

Thanks, --The.Filsouf (talk) 20:41, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

To answer in order:
  • It depends on where the information comes from. For online content, the most common, it is {{cite web}}. The second most common (in the articles I edit, anyway) is {{cite journal}}. A full list can be found here. Let me know if you have any trouble with them.
  • Gallery template? I don't generally have much to do with pictures, but I can bludgeon problems better well. What context is it in? What article is it for?
  • If you need a citation for a specific statement, use {{citation needed|date=December 2009}}. If it's an entire article at issue rather than a sentence here or there, see here for the list of them. Again, if you have any trouble with them, simply ask. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 20:50, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Alright, since it's still January 7th where i'm at, i'll start it here. My first question is how can I get a name change? Since, this name i'm currently using is a joke. Thanks. -- Larry MacDuff (talk) 22:50, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Go here. If you need any help with the policy, tell me. I'm not too familiar with how this process works, but I think it'll fairly simple for me to understand and explain to someone else if necessary. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 00:09, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
