Sandbox

Quite allright. Easy mistake to make. So why did you delete the whole page? WQUlrich (talk) 22:36, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Do be careful. Many users would have a major hissy-fit about something like this. WQUlrich (talk) 22:40, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

My apologies, when I get a red flag on my IRC bot for a large removal, it does not tell me the page name. I have changed it back. Rider ranger47 (talk) 23:07, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Well, actually, my point was, you didn't change it back, you deleted the entire sandbox. Just click on "undo" when you make a mistake. Don't worry, it's okay now...nothing is forever on Wikipedia. WQUlrich (talk) 23:51, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Rollbacker

I have granted rollback rights to your account. After a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. Good luck and thanks. 15:24, 23 January 2015 (UTC)– Gilliam (talk)

Unexplained change to Powerlifting article

Hello, thank you for following up on my unexplained deletion of a section in the article on Powerlifting. I deleted the content because it failed NPOV (being based on the views of "myself and my training partner" per original text) and was not encyclopedic (the original version of the section included a reference to getting the reader "swole af"). I will be sure to note reasons for edits in the future. Thanks again. 75.180.52.108 (talk) 15:58, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Electric Würms

Hello Rider ranger47. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Electric Würms, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 09:14, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi again, Rider ranger47. This is actually me, not the automatic message. Turns out there were good versions in the article history, that had been replaced by vandalism. I restored the good version, and revision-deleted the vandalism. It wasn't however, unreasonable to quess that with a potentially problematic topic the vandalism was all there was. DGG ( talk ) 21:07, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Seriously did you read the encyclopedic rubbish I removed from the article on Faustin Twagiramungu? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.195.97 (talk) 21:59, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

My god. It was apparent that it had no citations backing it up and that the content in question came from one user (User: Habimana Rukundo) who made the edits in November 2012, as the history page of the article states. (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Faustin_Twagiramungu&action=history). The user stated in the edit summary that: "I managed to have a one on conversation with Mr. Twagiramungu Faustin and this are his own PHRASES from him to the world".

A1 tags

Why are you tagging place articles pursuant to WP:CSD#A1 (e.g., Khatodra)? The tag clearly doesn't apply.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:41, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Yes, A1 , no context, is for articles where you cannot even determine what the article is about. DGG ( talk ) 20:06, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Mass deletion of information from terrorist incident articles

Good afternoon Rider_ranger47, sorry if this message seems bothersome, but from what I could see you have dealt with mass information deletion by the user 209.211.131.181 on the terrorist incident page for 2000. However, said person has also done this with numerous other related articles (1). I work on this particular page (2) and noticed many entries were removed. I'm not terribly well-versed with the reference requirements, but I know the simple dos and donts list says to tag insufficiently-sourced material. Unfortunately, with the page I work on I can't undo the removal because other edits were made since, so I'm doing it manually. Is it possible to prevent further deletion on these groups of pages from said person? Thank you for your time and help. (EG90 (talk) 05:17, 5 March 2015 (UTC))

reliable references for Mon Niye Kackakachi

This page should not be speedily deleted because... the article sites reliable resources for every information that is there on the page. Newspaper reports on the soap (from the national newspaper The Times of India and the Bengali newspaper Ei Samay) have been cited. Moreover, it is a very renowned television serial . Other television serials airing on Hindi language, Tamil language and other channels have articles on them. In fact the Tamil remake of the soap Yeh Hai Mohabbatein (another remake of which is Mon Niye Kachakachi) only has an article on Wikipedia but it cites only 4 references. Apart from resources available on yhe internet, many other famous weekly Bengali magazines like Bartaman and Sukhi Grihokon have brought out articles on the soap. Such articles have not been uploaded on the internet. But I can upload photocopies of such articles for further verification. It is an important venture of the Tollywood film industry. So. please do not delete it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tanns.25630 (talkcontribs) 06:43, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Re addition to song "Blackbird"

I'm not a regular editor of Wikipedia. While reading the entry, I considered it *constructive* within the context of the entry to point out that Crosby, Stills and Nash performed the song at Woodstock, thus I added it. Nothing was removed.

With all due respect, why would it not be constructive to point out that this Beatles song was performed at the most celebrated rock concert in American history? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.200.227.98 (talk) 03:48, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

"Only warning" messages

Hi Rider ranger47,

I'd like to remind you that the "only warning" feature in STiki is only to be used in exceptional circumstances. I notice that you have used it a number of times recently. I think that several of these uses don't warant the "only warning" message. e.g. when you reverted this edit or this edit.

Yaris678 (talk) 16:32, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia:STiki#Using STiki says just "In exceptional cases, the small 4im button can be used to give a more severe warning." Wikipedia:Vandalism#Warnings says just "for severe or grotesque vandalism only" I have never had cause to use this warning. Yaris678 (talk) 09:20, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

How do you reckon? There are exhibits of Soviet nonconformist art out there; the Rutgers University Voorhees Art Museum has long had such an exhibit. Soviet art still decorates the walls of Pripyat in the Ukraine, and it has hardly been touched due to radioactivity. Moreover, there are numerous other examples of Soviet art still extant, in various locations. 69.142.222.250 (talk) 15:59, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Example of Soviet art still extant in 2013.

Dear Ranger rider47, I noticed that you removed my explanation of the general formula relating numbers of teeth and angular velocities; the reason being "vandalism". Did you in fact read my contribution? Or was this qualification only suggested by the tool you use? What was the real motive for the removal?

The reasons for my addition were the following. The article itself (that is rather confused on the issue of gear ratios) only hints at an argument based on two other formulas. These formulas involve the planet gears themselves (nr of teeth and angular velocity) and, in contrast with what the article seems to suggest, in virtually all situations these are completely irrelevant. (By the way, angular velocity of a planet seems ill-defined.) Some contributors in the talk of the article have asked for better math and illuminating intuition. I think that my contribution offered both. Surprisingly, I haven't been able to find an equally simple explanation elsewhere.

I hope these explanations make you reconsider, and I would be very much obliged if you withdraw the vandalism accusation. Best, KeesDoe (talk) 19:23, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Thank for you the quick reply. I appreciate your efforts to keep wikipedia accurate and honest, however we disagree on this issue. I do not see how adding casting information to the video is not constructive. I respectfully request for you to reconsider your position and advise what the next steps would be if we can not come to an agreement. Thank you!

Best, Mikecortese (talk) 01:21, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

Be careful when patrolling recent changes

Hi Rider ranger47,

Please be careful when patrolling recent changes, especially when using tools like STiki that let you see a lot of edits quickly. If you are unsure about an edit, I recommend that you Google it. If you are still unsure then in STiki there is the "pass" option.

STiki does warn against over-use of the pass option. This is because the developer doesn't want to create a big backlog of edits that no one can classify. If you think no one would be able to classify a particular edit, press "innocent". Judging by the number of comments on this page, you should probably use the "pass" option more than you have been doing recently.

Yaris678 (talk) 09:14, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

P.S. I am not saying that you were wrong to revert in the all the cases above, but to attract to much attention so quickly suggests you should be more careful. If your revert is a good-faith revert, use that STiki button and change the edit summary to explain why you are doing the revert. Yaris678 (talk) 09:19, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi Rider ranger47 ,

Thank you for reviewing the page. When I created it, I noticed that there was already a page for Pristine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pristine) that had Pristine references, so I made the page name Pristine.io Do you have any advice on how to change this? Should I change the name of the page, resubmit a new page with that name, or take another approach.

Again, thanks for your help! Adam — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahelsinger (talkcontribs) 16:51, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

Rider ranger 47, "wrong title" is not a valid reason to decline a draft, particularly not since accepting it requires a page move anyway - you could have easily fixed the title if that were the only problem. However, the draft's sources largely are not reliable third-party sources but press releases, talks by the company's CEO or the like; that would have been more helpful feedback for the author, who in general will find it much more difficult to change a page title than the reviewer. Your recent DRN closing

I've changed your close on the People's party case from a "fail" to a "general close" because we don't usually call something a failure unless mediation has started and then failed. A failure to just get going is more like a "did not qualify" rather than a failure and only deserves a general close. I've left Guy Macon's failure–close just above yours because, first, I'm keeping my hands off of that one for the reasons I've stated on the DRN talk page (now in a collapsed discussion there), but also because there was a little bit of ongoing discussion there in trying to get it going. If it had been my case (or if I hadn't recused myself as coordinator), I probably would've made it a general close, too, but I didn't for those reasons. I just wanted to explain what might be an apparent discrepancy between your case and that case and, also, to thank you for volunteering to work at DRN. Best regards, TransporterMan (TALK) 21:03, 11 May 2015 (UTC) (current DRN coordinator)

Most people seem to be telling me this is not a behavioral issue. Haven't seen you in a while, Rider. What, do you have some kind of life outside Wikipedia? :-) Hope everything is okay. Closure warning at DRN

Hi RiderRanger and thanks for your participation at DRN. I did, however, want to caution you about being overzealous in closing cases. Recently you posted a 24 hr closuring notice on a case that hadn't had any activity in 2 days. That was premature as not everyone is on WP daily and it is common for a two day gap. It would have been better to put a note on the DRN talk page or the moderator's talk page asking what is the status of the case and offering assistance. We try to support the moderator and the participants to continue the case rather than a premature close. Thanks again for your help there. Let me know if you have any questions. Best, --KeithbobTalk 16:37, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Ah as fate would have it, I just noticed that you have a case in progress but you haven't been on WP since 5/21. I'm sure you'll return soon. Meanwhile I've asked the participants of the DRN case to patiently await your return. Cheers! --KeithbobTalk 19:02, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Help needed at DRN

You are receiving this message because you are signed up as a volunteer at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard. We have a number of pending requests which need a volunteer to address them. Unless you are an inexperienced volunteer who is currently just watching DRN to learn our processes, please take a case. If you do not see yourself taking cases in the foreseeable future, please remove yourself from the volunteer list so that we can have a better idea of the size of our pool of volunteers; if you do see yourself taking cases, please watchlist the DRN page and keep an eye out to see if there are cases which are ready for a volunteer. We have recently had to refuse a number of cases because they were listed for days with no volunteer willing to take them, despite there being almost 150 volunteers listed on the volunteer page. Confused

I received a message from you... "Hello, I'm Rider ranger47. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Consumer Bill of Rights because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Rider ranger47 Talk 17:13, 5 November 2015 (UTC)".

I have no idea whatsoever what this is about. I'm not even logged in to Wikipedia at present (nor was I when i received this message) so not sure how this could even be routed to me. Nor have I ever edited anything on Wikipedia.

Something wrong in the system I am afraid. Either you have the wrong person or something else is messed up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 166.175.63.2 (talk) 17:43, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. DRN help needed and volunteer roll call

You are receiving this message because you have listed yourself on the list of volunteers at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/Volunteering#List of the DRN volunteers.

First, assistance is needed at DRN. We have recently closed a number of cases without any services being provided for lack of a volunteer willing to take the case. There are at least three cases awaiting a volunteer at this moment. Please consider taking one.

Second, this is a volunteer roll call. If you remain interested in helping at DRN and are willing to actively do so by taking at least one case (and seeing it through) or helping with administrative matters at least once per calendar month, please add your name to this roll call list. Individuals currently on the principal volunteer list who do not add their name on the roll call list will be removed from the principal volunteer list after June 30, 2016 unless the DRN Coordinator chooses to retain their name for the best interest of DRN or the encyclopedia. Individuals whose names are removed after June 30, 2016, should feel free to re-add their names to the principal volunteer list, but are respectfully requested not to do so unless they are willing to take part at DRN at least one time per month as noted above. No one is going to be monitoring to see if you live up to that commitment, but we respectfully ask that you either live up to it or remove your name from the principal volunteer list.
