Pls have a glance at this news, it states memorandum to the CM on some issues, and one of the issue being consideration of Urdu as the second official language in Andhra Pradesh. So, at present there is no second officio language based on this. Your say?--Vin09 (talk) 16:03, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

You are actually strongly encouraged to use words like As of 2011 or As of 2014 instead of recently etc.....words like recently become outdated and no longer refer to the time they originally were intended to be. So go ahead and extensively use As of

Kadapa district name

The district name is written as Cuddapah in this page. In this page it is written as Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy District (Cuddapah). As per wiki naming conventions more familiar and usable name is taken into consideration. A user moved the page entirely to some different name which is written as Kadapa District (Cuddapah district). Can you guide this.--Vin09 (talk) 13:16, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

btw have you noticed that this pic's description is wrong ? if you look closely you will notice that there is a sea harrier on the stern. the aircraft on deck from right to left are 1x alize 1x seaking 2x seahawk and 1x harrier. clearly the pic was taken in the 80's and not during the 71 war. i dont know if we should change the description, the source only mentions dunking sonar being deployed. i dont intend to change it but you should probably decide since you are the original uploader. im fine either way. yea easy to miss details on those old scanned photos. but i happen to be intimately familiar with the sea hawk and spotted one that looked different right away ;) (hint : the vertical stabilizer shape is different. also too small to be sea hawk ;) ) and yes i agree, the time frame is after acquisition of harrier but before retirement of seahawk and refit with skijump. anyways you guys decide. like i said im fine either way. guys have a look at this link P15 kolkata apparently p15 carries only 2x16 cell barack 8 for a total of 32 and not 64 as originally thought. i had been hearing rumors about this once the pictures had been released, but no confirmation until now. Pvpoodle (talk) 06:02, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

@Pvpoodle....it presumably carries 32 X Barak-8 and 32 X Barak-1....if you observe the livefist images carefully, there are 32 vls in the front and another 32 at the stern. there are not 32 vls in front. there are 16 and another 16 in the back. this has been confirmed by Vishnu Som (who incidentally stood on the deck and counted the Barak vls cells) and other journalists. if you look at all the latest news reports they all say 32 b8 and no b1. here is another report by ajai shukla link. there is an assumption that more SAM will be added either matri point defense or more barak 8 since there is a lot of available space. also you may find this an interesting debate link Pvpoodle (talk) 07:19, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

list of decommissioned ships

hi, i would appreciate if you and Anir1uph could help me clean up and expand List of ships of the Indian Navy. We have had a lot of ships right from pre independence days but no single place to find them all, so i have been trying to expand the decommissioned ships section on this page. i have also started work on listing everything in a table. any help with the tabulation, finding more ships or just linking to other pages would be very much appreciated. thanks and regards Pvpoodle (talk) 15:09, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

why are we removing all the INS and HMIS prefixs? ships are always known by the full name including the prefix in the navy. even the '{ { 'ship' } }' template lists the full name. Pvpoodle (talk) 18:13, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

the lapses in fitting out is due to unavailability of missiles and radars it seems....the Directorate of Naval Design thinks too futuristic and includes equipment that's not yet ready...thereby delaying the ships..hope this changes.. Cheers, ƬheStrike Σagle 09:26, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Too bad, the video is down now, cause "they" dont want the truth to get out!! ;) Journalistic ethics are at an all time low in this country, with all the paid media going around. which coincidentally was one of the things discussed in the video. The Dhowan thing is just not true. some people keep making up that false claim because his first name Robin sounds christian (he actually isn't), and so is sonia / ak anthony / some random person from the west. By all accounts he is a very good officer and more importantly a competent one. We have had both good and bad officers and service chiefs who were christian / hindu / Muslim / Sikh, i mean we have even had Jews(gen jacob from 71) , Zoroastrian (gen manekshaw), Buddhists , jains , and who knows what else. i think its time some A**H***s give up trying to slander someone just because he/she holds different or no religious views due to their own personal prejudiced, rather than accept the fact that they are all Indian, and blood loyalties come first for many especially those in the armed forces. not angry with you, i am angry that this same old sh*t still gets pull up where religion or cast or "im north indian / im south indian" or "im one shade of complexion lighter skinned than you, so that must mean im better than you", is given a lot more weight age than it needs to be. PSLV C26

btw, did you catch the launch last night? i got an amazing show last from my balcony with the naked eye. (i currently live in chennai) caught the first stage separation, bright flash and a streak of flames a couple of inches across the sky , followed by this very bright yellow dot moving pretty fast for about a minute till it was out of sight behind a cloud bank. it was a completely last minute hunch to run from in front of the live telecast to the balcony because it was a night launch, im glad i made that decision but i am still kicking myself for not having time to get hold of the pretty good pair of binoculars i have or making a recording :( Pvpoodle (talk) 18:15, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

SHAR is actually about 60 km as the crow flies, a little less when you take into account the flight path taken by the launch vehicle. I actually have a pretty good pair of binoculars, just didn't plan things out and didn't have the 1 minute it would have taken to find them.
