It was one I listened to, and enjoyed tremendously, - Rheingau Musik Festival, presenting Voces8 a week later. The encore was Dona nobis pacem, to the music of Bach's Air, and I thought how wise, but then found that Biller had made that arrangement, - so not only a comment to a current war but also a bow to the predecessor. - Good to see your tenor on the Main page today. Thank you for the link. Glad you have enjoyed the concerts and bike tours. I am in the north of England, so we have had more rain here than in the south (which is where I come from). The weather here is quite pleasantly cool at the moment. However, where I am, we are expecting water rationing at the end of this month, and electricity cuts during the winter. I remember that from the 1970s, and it was not a problem, but then I had a hearth in the house. Today, many people don't have a hearth, and non-smokeless fuel is not permitted anyway. Wrong image[edit]

Someone has called conflated two different John Jolliffes. The picture has been changed to the wrong person and the John Jolliffe who was Bodley’s librarian has nothing to do with the Asquiths. He has born in Hastings in 1929, parents Willam Benjamin Jolliffe and Gwendolen Ada Mary Gadd. He was my father and I am going to undo the edits that have conflated his entry with someone else MaryPercival (talk) 18:42, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@MaryPercival: Is this John Jolliffe, Bodley's librarian here? If so, I can add a thumbnail of the face part of the image to the article, using a particular licence in accordance with WP policy. If that is the wrong picture, then can you give me a link to an online picture of the correct John Jolliffe (librarian)?
Meanwhile, please note that as the daughter of John Jolliffe (librarian) you have a conflict of interest when editing the article, and that needs to be declared in accordance with WP policy. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. I note that you have added his parents' names, which may not appear in the existing citations. If you are unable to confirm with citations that your added facts appear in the existing citations, then your edits are not verifiable and may be deleted. I had 4 music items on 11 Sep, DYK, singing in church and Verdi rehearsal, and listening to a mezzo in a synagogue, and a choir in Unionskirche, both pictured, - Tag des offenen Denkmals? Thank you! More if you like. The rose pic was taken on 11 Sep 2021, and this year was full of music that day, Tag des offenen Denkmals, not only singing in church and rehearsals for Verdi's Requiem, but two concerts at special places pictured, one a synagogue (pictured on its wall). Today three DYK: a piece we'll perform on Sunday, a violinist we heard in June playing the Berg Concerto, and a Youth Orchestra shaped by a conductor who recently died. Today is Erntedank in Germany, thanksgiving, and we celebrated our village's 650th anniversary, and had the dress rehearsal for Verdi's Requiem with an interesting band of marimba, piano, horn, bass, timpani and drum, - concert tomorrow, our national holiday. Thank you. I nominate Silvia Hauer now, a day late, so will need mercy that a certain reviewer would not grant, and help with what the critic wrote. Mr. Stern went into great detail about the conductor's bravery, and the politics of the piece, but wrote little about the soloists, + it's in German and a paywall. He wrote: Über dem Chor "leuchtet ein starkes Solistenquartett", then giving the names. Is there a better word for a vocal "leuchten" than "shine"? He also wrote, now about the women only: "... überstrahlt von den Stimmen ..."! What would that be in English when meant positively? ... something with radiance? Anyway, I wasn't happy with the reviewer's lack of giving each of four wonderful singers with personal character a specific credit. The article was there, just many refs dead. Would you find where the La Scala archives went? Memorial Chapel, Hastings[edit]

The story of this short-lived chapel, the façade of which still exists, is fascinating: I've been researching it recently in connection with the various works of Thomas Elworthy. There's too much in the way of "original research" needed for it to be suitable for Wikipedia, so I'm intending to write a study for possible external publication.
