Speedy deletion[edit]

Hi Stiggs64! Please note that established articles with sources very rarely meet the criteria for speedy deletion on Wikipedia. If you think the article Patrick Dixon should be deleted, please use the Articles for deletion process. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 22:10, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your comments are mostly true, but speedy deletion isn't for this kind of article, especially the A7 criterion (non-notable). It's hard to explain in short and simple terms exactly what does and what does not qualify for A7, but basically something the intended use is for articles saying something like "John Doe is a 14-year-old High School student from New York, New York". For almost anything beyond that, a different process should be used. The fact that the article was written by the subject himself is certainly not helpful, but it doesn't automatically qualify the articles for speedy deletion. Please don't be discouraged by this—you can still delete the article if you believe it should be deleted. The first step could be to propose a deletion, although if you don't think that will work, you can immediately take the article to the articles for deletion process, which will get external input from more editors who will read and consider your comments, and from my experience, an article like this is likely to be deleted in AfD.
